The Warning are exactly what the world needs right now. Down to earth, funny, super talented and all the hard work they have put into this. They are an inspiration.
Considering how young they were and what beautiful music and lyrics they wrote. Incredible, outstanding, epic. Thanks for listening the LP with all of us.
Prodigies. I often wonder why they aren't being hailed as such. This is the most naturally talented siblings since J5. My brain hurts that they still aren't a household name.
Their mv for XXI century blood is an excellent storytelling video. It’s like a tiny lil movie that’ll blow your mind with what the younger warning expresses in it. Hope that makes sense. ✌️
Show me the Light is Dany’s best guitar work, still to this day. The delicacy, melody and emotion in that solo…..as well as her playing the clean melody underneath Pau’s piano. Its perfection.
I know you don't prefer the videos but believe me 21st Century Blood video is just so outanding. I love everything this band does. So enlighten for their ages. Especially Pau!!
Black Holes at Dakota Bar was better than album version because of the maturity in Pau’s voice. Dany gets away with it better on this album because she is almost an adult. Their writing was years ahead of their vocal maturity in general. I think one day we will see a re-recording of their first EP’s and many from this album to better showcase their current ability.
Great reaction, Ash! The thing that triggers most people with Black Holes is the LIVE version , with voice cracks and full passion. And hits you extra hard if yourself or a close one have had addiction problems. Studio version is great, but live is another level ❤
They just can't put out anything that isn't fabulous. To be able to write songs like that so young amazes me. Can't wait to see what they do with the next Album. And "Wildfire" is a hidden Gem. I like that it is inspired by the Hunger Games, which is still one of my favorite Books/Movies.
It is impossible to not fall in love with these amazing young women, their story is a Hollywood movie in real life and they make us all feel like a bunch of proud aunts and uncles! So happy you did this full album reaction!
Great reaction. I will say this about Black Holes. Most of the emotional reactions come from Pau's live performance at the Dakota Bar. My favorite song from this album is Show Me the Light. The guitar solo is in my Dany's top 5 list.👍⚡⚡⚡
Dust to Dust was my introduction to the band, but I decided to give this first album a full listening. Fell in love immediately, these songs were a great ally during November/December of 2020. Since then, my love for the girls only got stronger. I admire this record a lot!
Shattered heart live at the whiskey 2020 is a must watch ! And you must watch all the way to the end for a special surprise ! It would make a great reaction video
Great reaction! I know you said you’ll see XXI CB Music Video , but I’ll recommend it too, is a MUST, especially if you liked the lyrics (it’s an award winning MV) Then also highly recommended SHATTERED HEART live at Whisky A Gogo (mind blowing) and finally the rest of the songs of this album live at Dakota Bar so you can see the passion Pau puts on the songs she sings. Looking forward to more reactions!
This band is so hard to understand, how can one group just keep making music so good? My absolute favorite Warning song is the one I just listened to, and will be stuck in my head all day!!
Always blows me away to listen to this album and then think about how young they were when they made it. Happy that you finally got to hear it and that you liked it. Just saw their VMA appearance and while it was way too short, they killed it! Great exposure for them and maybe next year they will get an award or play a full set on the show. ⚡
Great reaction Ash! My favorite song from this album is Shattered Heart and my favorite version is the 2020 Whiskey A Go Go version that takes this song to another level. They are older in that performance and so much better musicians. The breakdown in that version is magic (yes, even more than the original!) and when they came out of it, well it's just stunning! When you get the chance check out that version, you won't be disappointed. Here it is: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-QgaUuSoSxOw.html this version of this song is still one of my favorite TW songs.
I think Dany said that the solo from "Show me the light" is her favorite to play. It's so tasteful and sweet... Can't wait for my handwritten lyrics of that song, by Ale's hand, on its way to my place right now 🥰 I had "Crimson Queen" by Dany last year...
Excellent reaction and commentary Ashlena! I really love "Show Me the Light" and "Our Mistakes". Released March 27th, 2017... they had just turned 17, 15, and 12 years old... CRAZY! Paulina has said that many of these songs were written around the same time as their EP "ESCAPE THE MIND" two years earlier; released April 14th, 2015. 🗣 MIND-BOGGLING!!! 👊😄
Excellent live videos for *XXI Century Blood* album to watch is from their performance at Dakota Bar, Monterrey, MX. That show is where Pau made men cried listening to Black Holes. Because every guy knew someone who was addicted (drugs, alcohol, gambling) where the person refused any help. Pau reached that spot with this performance. The live show the girls performed in front of their classmates *(LICEO means school in Español)* is the best for *Escape the Mind* EP & other covers of interest.
Watch Shattered Heart at the Whiskey A Go Go and Show Me the Light from at the Dakota Bar - those are the best live versions. Black Holes is also at the Dakota Bar, so you could do a twofer.
I absolutely love this album , it’s a gem that people rarely talk about !!!.. you should check out the official video for XXI Blood .. it’s a banger !!!
Show Me The Light is my favorite song by The Warning. I usually love the hard rockers, but I think this song is sheer pop perfection. The fact that it was written by a 13 year old Pau is mind boggling. You need to check out one of the live versions floating around on You Tube. There are a couple. The lyrics are beautiful. Pau's vocals are amazing. Dany's harmony vocals are amazing. The guitar solo is amazing. The bass line throughout is beautiful. In the live version at the end when Pau goes into her vamping lyrics Ale takes over her main part (Hold Me Please, Never Leave. I need the Daily Poisoning) and Dany continues her harmony vocals. All 3 join in together and it's spine tingling. I think SMTL is their most perfect song. Here is a link to the best live version I could find. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-eOMpbN8wx9Q.htmlsi=2L4ngu1iT7aPex7m Sorry if I posted this twice. 😁
@@booradley8895 yes, I've heard her talk about it. She mentioned that she had a friend who gave her a word for the lyrics when she was stuck, but the friend isn't credited so it must have been a minor bit of help. I think she was stuck for one word. Pau is the main song writer also so it's fine to give her the credit where it's due. But clearly they all have a major part in how the songs turn out. It's a team effort for sure. Pau certainly isn't writing leads for Dany or bass parts for Ale. If she was writing by herself I'm sure lots of the songs would be different. I agree with you that we need all 3 to get these awesome songs fully finished. Credit to all 3 of them.
Sooo... my top three favorite parts of this album... One, the title track, that song is just pure hard rock, straight up. Two, the breakdown in Shattered Heart, and three, Dany really pours her soul into her soulo (ok, I'm sorry, I'll see myself out) in When I'm Alone, it gives me chills every time. Ok, let's make it my four favorite parts, I have to mention Black Holes, Pau kills it as usual. Oh darn it, let's make it my top five then! Show Me the Light...
You nailed it, Ashlena. 49:00 - 50:05 Sometimes you never know what's going on. Is it Dany playing her low strings, is it a backing track or is it Ale breaking into Dany's realm? These are the moments to stand up, dance, lose some sweat and get happy.
17,15,12. I was playing d&d.😢 These ladies had (and have) a vision for their future. They are getting there on a rocket! Practice, dedication to your craft, relentless work ethic is what some people call "Luck".. Nope. It's the drive to become what you have wanted all of your life.🤟❤️⚡⚡⚡
Just a heads up: If you buy the vinyl of XXI CB, three songs will be missing. Our Mistakes, Exterminated and River's Soul. I knew the last two probably wouldn't be there because they're basically bonus tracks ( they're two of my favorites). I was disappointed Our Mistakes wasn't included. But I also have the CD so it's okay. Also, when you listen to Exterminated and River's Soul, Dany's voice might sound a little different. That's because she was very sick when recording. In fact she had to sing them multiple times to get the best take. Looking forward to your next video.
Wildfire and Show Me The Light, two hidden gems, my favorites from this album. Dany's solo, beautiful, ethereal, a work of art. Wildfire y Show Me The Light, dos gemas escondidas, mis favoritas de este álbum . El solo de Dany precioso, etéreo, una obra de arte.
Songwriting was finished in 2016 when they were 16-14-11 but some of the songs were holdovers from the "Escape the Mind" group of homework songs they wrote for Pablo Gonzalez during 2013-14. And, of course, there's a full concert recorded in November 2016 at the local Café Iguana where they debuted all the songs, some which didn't have names yet (see setlist below) - ru-vid.com/group/PLGr8fallFVeZGnha6580VC4TDfnehwqE4 - The gig didn't start until 12:40am and finished at around 2am; Ale said it was the first time she'd ever stayed up that late! ADD: They also played a full album at Nirvana Rock Joint - ru-vid.com/group/PLPBMYwtpX_dvEnN2CHKCuQQ5yFK7aQgGC Setlist at Cafe Iguana: 1 Exterminated 2 Runaway 3 XXI Century Blood 4 Wildfire 5 When I'm Alone 6 River's Soul 7 Free Falling 8 Our Mistakes 9 Black Holes 10 Shattered Heart 11 Survive 12 Copper Bullets 13 Unmendable 14 Show Me the Light
If you do buy The Warning XXI Century Blood Vinyl that Album has only 10 song but CD has 13 songs The Vinyl is missing "Our Mistakes" "River's Soul" and "Exterminated"
Hi Ashlena! It's really great to see you as enamored with The Warning as I am. I can't say which album is the best because they are all good. I love them and their songs and especially their live performances. Sure, all the studio versions are great, but I still like that the girls are better live.
If you're in need of a good cry - try Black Holes Live at the Dakota bar - so much emotion and passion. Such a great album from musicians at any age but the ages when they wrote and recorded this - just insane. I'll never get over how lucky we all are to have these young women in our lives.
I’m glad you picked up the vibe from shattered heart I feel like the music displays the emotion of a broken relationship, starts with a hard angry sound, then the beautiful slow break is where reality sets in, I’m alone I don’t know how to deal or how to be heart broken, then the happy sound when you are on the other side and realize you will be ok. To almost in your face for what you did to me. Their music always seems to reinforces the lyrics.
Unmendable and Exterminated. So damn hardcore in your face rock n roll. Their 2 independent records are my absolute favorites. Love love love that part of the meteoric rise.
Show me the Light, just written by 13 year old Pau just to see if she could write a love song. I think she succeeded. It is a pity they don't do this any more, although there is a recent recording of this with Pau singing it at a Montreal Radio station. It could easily be in a movie sound track. One of my favourites as well. It is interesting that Survive is still a live favourite.
Shattered Heart has a total 70s/80s rock vibe that I adore. Parts of it feel like they could have been a Kansas song. Like, some of those guitar riffs sound very reminiscent of Carry On, Wayward Son. The emotion of Black Holes is amazing, love a Pau ballad. When I'm alone is the perfect song for teenage me. If it had been around back then, I'd have listened to it a thousand times. It's a punk rock/pop punk nostalgia hit directly into my veins.
Best “Pau” songs? My list: (Leaving out Disciple and Sinister Smiles because they are more of duets) 1. 23 2. Dust To Dust 3. Survive 4. Narcisista 5. Black Holes 6. Fade Away 7. The End 8. Breathe 9. Show Me The Light 10. Revenant
If you could manage to finish the remaining two songs, then River's Soul would become your new favourite :D "Show Me the Light" was on top of my most streamed list for a long time. I love that song. Then it became Survive I guess. This is a great reaction all the way. Now there are live materials ahead of you and again mindblowing Escape The Mind. Exciting. :)
Your comments on 21st Century Blood lyrics about everyone being depressed hit me hard. It brought back a favourite lyric I had almost forgotten. I never really got why we're here Just look at all we build in our lives and we all disappear A few of us are born with so much While most of us just chasing down a dream that we just can't touch So why we try so hard in this place? *When pain and suffering is a guarantee and happiness is a phase* I wonder if one day we're at peace Or will this whole world just become like the middle east?
Wow. That’s intense. I always believed heaven is above and we’re in hell. Life is honestly so hard. Losing people, sickness, starvation, disease it’s honestly insane what humans go through. There are the beautiful parts of being human but yeah if it wasn’t for my kid I would of given up on this life.
@@ashlenamusic Well, if that door is open, this is why I believe religion is horseshit. What kind of compassionate "god" would put his creations through 80 years of suffering to get a ticket to paradise?
About Dany hitting high notes, I agree, you wouldn't think her range would be so dynamic given the low range she often sings at. However, I would enter into evidence multiple Dany day midnight mini concerts to fully understand her abilities. There's one where she sings "I will always love you" by WH and absolutely nails it, no asterisk required. There are many of these mini concerts where she sings other artists music for her adoring fans that are very up there in the vocal range and I would argue that's actually where her natural voice rests.
They have an amazing body of work, don't they? I have no favorites from this album - They're all great. How does a 13-year-old write a song about addiction? This is genius. *Black Holes* and *Show Me the Light* have made plenty of grown men cry. Play 'em for hubby.
When I'm Alone seems like a slow because of it's context, but it's actually a mid-tempo song. Also, the intro starts faster in this original recording. Dany has extended the intro these days which makes the song seem even slower.
Escape the Mind is their first songs they wrote. Never intended to be recorded. They were just experimenting with lyrics and music arrangements. I found some songs pretty cool.lyrically , but not really my style instrumental wose. Yet I absolutely impressed by the effort. Some song as were written by Pau, some by Many and a couple mainly written by a nine year old Ale. Then at least one group effort in Free Falling. Enjoy it. This whole as album is very impressive to me. The Rivers Soul song was them jumping out and trying new stuff out of the box. Impressive.
After a full listen to this album now u understand why this album is Luna's favorite album ever. Their first album Escape the Mind is amazing as well.. luv ur channel so much. Luna said definitely do a reaction to the first album Escape the Mind...❤❤
On the Song "Wildfire" there was a Fan Made Video that has Disappeared off of RU-vid, it was an Awesome Video because whom ever made the Video used Scenes from the "Hunger Games" movies
Such a great reaction! I love this album. Shattered Heart is one of my favorites. In 2020, I was laid off from a job I had for 21 years. My entire department was eliminated and I think of Shattered Heart as my feelings to management of that place. That's what The Warning do, they write songs that are so relatable to your own life. Spectacular.
@@ashlenamusic did not make it at 5am..😴😴 but managed to join the premiere just before the end of Copper Bullets. Watched the rest of the vid in parts during the day. 🤟 Thanks great reaction and the last song is definitely one of my favorites. Beautiful 😍. Greetings from the Netherlands.
Unfortunately they only sing a few of these songs today. I would love to hear a "more mature" version of Wildfire or Show Me The Light (or Escape The Mind for that matter).
Ashlena - Here is a fun one you probably haven't seen. October, 2017, The Warning opened for Def Leppard in Mexico City. Ale was 12 years old here!!! Survive - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-rMyi69SXTHI.html
Very nice review! This album is great! Maybe the chord progression in the songs is a little simpler than on their later records, it has a more punky and grungy edge for me, that I absolutely love! The album is beautiful, but watch these songs live from the Dakota Bar concert! The best recorded lead and backing vocals I can imagine! This record written and played by young teenagers is oozing with their talents! Thanks, greetings from Germany 👍⚡️🤘
Didn't wanna say I told you, but..... Glad you loved it, there's so many different styles within this album. From double kicks hardcore rock, DreamPop and Shoegaze to Gilmour-ish guitar landscapes. Also, don't feel bad. These young girls write better music than adults in their prime.
My favorite version, hands down, of Survive is their performance from TEDx 2017 :) Great album, and I have a couple of big-time favorites, but Black Holes, Black Holes makes me full on belt along in the car... Such emotion in that one, and though I didn't get it when I first heard it, I just felt it, it has special meaning to me... They do have a way with word, and Our Mistakes is no exception, there's this little detail I quickly noticed when I heard it.. It's called OUR Mistakes, but she sings YOUR mistakes. Knowing them and their lyrics I doubt that's a coincidence, I swear it's 100% on purpose :)
I really like your reactions, real, down to earth and honest! The first 5 songs they wrote are in the EP Escape the Mind and it was homework from one of their music teachers. The songs on this album are the next 13 songs they EVER wrote. So even if you say they wrote other songs that they did not use, we are talking about maybe their best 18 songs from what could be 30-40 songs by the time Dany was ~17, Pau ~15 and Ale ~13. 🤯 The quality of the songwriting so early in their lives/career is 🤯.
It's 3 hours into the VMAs. And be real, TWA are only watching the VMAs because TW are in NYC and performing (recorded) on the expanded stage. Leave the TV on int he background with the sound turned down until you see TW. Kinda like how you used to watch Charlies Angels on TV back in the 70s.
I think Pau and Dany might have done "Show me the light" at the CHOM rock room show, which you'll have to catch up to at some point, because it's awesome.
Love the album, loved the live (despite being publicly flogged😂). You nailed it Ash - what really sets them apart is their dynamics. They are constantly switching things up - Pau with shifting beats, Ale with playing more lead elements & then more supporting, and Dany with everything. Add to that their spectacular vocals & harmonies & infectious hooks. The complete package.
