honestly , drays defense doesnt makeup for the attitude.. if you think about the cavs suspension, making kd leave, and punching poole a case could be made hes cost the warriors more than helped
Yeah, no. They definitely needed Draymond - only until he caused them to no longer need him. He got away with so much because the production was there, but now that it’s not - he in turn isn’t useful. Just a liability.
I would also take Julius Randle over all of them as well. Bully ball slasher who has been efficient as a scorer rebounder and playmaker. Not someone you can leave open too
Draymond green is perhaps an underrated offensive player because anything he does offensively is at best the third thing he’s known for. I envision he could’ve been an efficient about 18 points per game with about 9 assists. But the progression was stopped dead in its tracks by the signing of kd and he never stepped back into that third offensive option role.
I know that outros are kind of bad for the RU-vid algorithm but I honestly appreciate it when you have time to chill after a vid rather than going from 100 to 0 in 1 second
Without either they don’t win 2015, but they probably win both 2017 and 2018 anyway. I’d say they were of equal importance for all three chips. As for 2022, it was pretty obvious that Draymond’s defence on its own contributed significantly more than Klay throughout the postseason. So yeah, Draymond was more important than Klay in 1 of their 4 championships.
I honestly don’t think Nesmith is that far behind Turner. He’s progressing into a good POA defender, he’s a great shooter this year, his athleticism getting to the rim surprises you, and best of all he is 1000% all hustle. I don’t think he’s done getting better either.
I feel like one reason why defense is also kind important on super star is that you don't want the other team to hunt for match up against your superstar, like steph or dame or trae young or harden. This just drain their stamina unnecessarily, and affect their offense. Teams won't hunter to switch against kawhi or Giannis so those super star can "rest" in defense (not defending on ball) if they chose to.... By the way, I'm kinda talking out of my a** right now. I don't actually know how much it matters. I wonder if people have looked up stats on super star with bad defense and see if their offensive production drops when playing against a team who is able to hunt them for matchups.
@konorkaotic9657 I don't coden his actions and I could care less what he does in a basketball court. He is bad part of society and its disgraceful he is allowed to do what he does. He should be banned or we wait until he gets in a fist fight with a fan/teammate/another NBA player. And there is no saying he won't. In fact, he probably will do it again cuz he has done it 6 times or whatever the absurd amount of situations he has put himself into.
Edwards over Haliburton. His leadership and two-way play cannot be understated, and that's not even mentioning the fact that he's turning 23 years old this August.
The game has changed players that are pure defenders without offence production are getting left off the roster for players that can perform on the scoring end without much defence.
Trae has shot 42% from the field the last 2 years while shooting 33 and 36% from 3. Not only that but he shoots at a high volume and is a crappy defender. His assist numbers are great, I’ll give him that, but he also has the ball in his hands longer than any other player. How in the hell would he be considered a possible MVP candidate even if the Hawks had a great record? I don’t understand how so many people see him as such a great player. Could someone please enlighten me? He also just looks annoying af
@@blakeunderwood1075 Lol he averages more than Lebron while LBJ shoots 52% from the field and 40% from 3. 10% and 4% better than Trae respectively. Lebron is also 39 years old while Trae should be entering the prime of his career. Not sure where you’re getting the comparison of Trae and Lebron’s defense, but it is a well known fact Trae is a huge liability on the defensive side of the ball, and while Lebron isn’t a great defender nowadays I guarantee he’s much less of a liability than Trae. Besides, this wasn’t an argument between Lebron and Trae, this was an argument about how Trae is overrated.
Nesmith's career high in points is 26. There's no way the second best player on an all time great offense maxed out at 26 points in his career. I love Nesmith though, as a Boston fan, I knew he was gonna get better with the minutes. He was crazy high energy and lived so fast, but now after a few years it looks like the game slowed down for him and he in turn doesn't fly around as much anymore.
Derrick White should be an all star. He's got the craziest stats when it comes to balanced stats and not just high ppg or rebounds. He probably won't get in, but I have a feeling the coaches are gonna choose him especially if there's an injury (like Haliburton out now).
rusty can you make an in depth video into luka i feel like the media hates on him more than any other player in the sense that they don’t talk about him enough or give him credit hes only 24 and his start in the nba is already historic please lmk your thoughts
Draymond has done some damage to the warriors, sometimes being a liability on offense, emotions running wild, kicking poole and Durant out of GS. However ever since the dynasty has started he has always been the 2nd or 3rd best player on those championship teams. He is the greatest team defender of all time. He goes so well with Steph and is the reason those warrior defenses have been always so good or even average.
I think if you measure his perceived positive impact with his measurable negative impact, Draymond draws around even. He has cost them at least one, probably two and arguably 3 chips (if you include the punching Poole season). Draymond has a very high basketball IQ and is at least a starting calibre player on many teams. BUT…. He also writes cheques with his mouth that his team has to cash because without the system he plays in and succeeds with, he’s proven to be a relatively useless player on any kind of mid or lesser team. He’s not a bad player, but he’d never even get a whiff of the HOF or championship success without the system he plays in. I usually hate claiming anyone is a “system player” but he couldn’t even average a low percentage double double the year the Warriors sucked. And that exposed him enough that Golden State missed the bust by not seeing it.
About Middleton , he was on mins restriction for like the first third of the season and was out a long time so they have been giving him more and more looks and chances to try and get him back to as full force as he can be. Watch the last 10-15 games Khris has starting to flashes again of just being able to get red hot and also still has the best back and forth with Giannis. His offense looks like it could fully be there still but he will never be the same on defense and that was something he never got the credit for as he was overall a good 2 way player . He has been with The Bucks besides his first year didn't make a ton of money for awhile and has been a legit part of The Bucks success , The right thing to do was maybe overpay a bit , hard enough to get players to Milwaukee without Giannis.
I'M SORRY, no disrespect to Hali, but: Luka Jokic Giannis SGA Ant Wemby - not in that order, but i feel like they all clear easily ... and that is truly no disrespect to Tyrese at all, dude is a point God...
Draymon Green is the Robert Horry of our generation. A rotational player with a decent complementary skillset to get carried by future hall of famers to a bunch of championships.
The Ball brothers are cursed with Injury issues. smh. I really hope Zo's career isn't over. And yeah, Ant's not top 10, but I believe he will be. Give Ant B.I.'s playmaking and he becomes a force!
The warriors can easily replace draymond..but the question is how to get the other team to give up their player for dray..i can pick at least a dozen players who can replace draymond and make the dubs a better team..jokic..embiid..davis..lebron..kd..giannis..tatum..adebayo..kawhi..sabonis...jjj..banchero..
Hot take? OKC won't make much noise in the postseason this year (unlike so many predictions) as the world and their grandma know Chet can be bullied off the court. He's having an awesome rookie season but will be the weakspot come playoffs
Hot Take: The mid to late 80’s West and early 2010’s East are comparable in how top heavy they were. There was one team that consistently dominated with few exceptions (Showtime Lakers and the teams LeBron was on), and otherwise both conferences have been described as weak.
@@thetank5642I could see that as well. The 80’s West had the Lakers, Rockets, and not much else. The 90’s had the Rockets, and Sonics. Jazz were kind of in their own tier right below, and then everyone else. Either way, those were likely your top tiers.
He kinda is though. He anchored the GSW death lineup with his versatility in locking down guards & wings while providing crucial rim protection and provided the most important aspect on defense which is communication
How? He’s prolly the most versatile defender ever, can guard 1-5, led the league in steals, best team defender ever, extremely good defensive communicator, etc
Could Drayton have scored more points, yes, undoubtedly. But he was the engine and the glue that drove the warriors, his defense and playmaker were uber important, especially since steph was not a good defender and the big men were not average at best, and not elite rim protectors.
ant is leading his team to the #1 seed. that alone makes him a top 10 player imo you aren't a top 10 player if you aren't the best player on your team and your team isnt a top seed
I’m pretty sure most if not all of his prime seasons he was among the league’s best in on/off differential. Mainstream audiences won’t ever appreciate his legacy due to his late career antics.
Was he not more trouble than he was worth? People act like if Draymond goes away they can't trade him for another really good player. Maybe KD would have stayed without him
Saying Warriors never needed Draymond is like saying Bulls second three peat never needed Rodman, or Bad Boys did not need him, it's ridiculous. Rings are not happening without either of them, Durant is never coming over - and if the refs did not kick him out, 3-1 would not have happened either.
