The heroes that Elidibus summons at the half way point in the trial are the main cast of Final Fantasy 4. You can even see Palom and Porom twincasting through the rest of the fight.

One thing i found interesting. The first Spectral Hero, the Spectral Swordsman, has the hairstyle AND the armor set that are references/homages to the FF1 Warrior design. Well the sprite design anyway. those gloves and the chest piece are very specific after all. And considering how in ff1 you name your characters it makes it a touch amusing that Thancred asks who he is and gets no answer.
@pmuean

In my opinion, all of them are warriors of lights. And the concept of 'beyond the rift' could represents a distinct type of multiverse, not the 14 shards that emerged after the sundering.

It's a fair callback for the Spectral Heroes in that dungeon. The Spectral Thief would take offense on being called such, he prefers 'Treasure Hunter'. He very closely resembles the Amano artwork for Locke. The Spectral Necromancer is a callback to Lena Charlotte Tycoon in her Necromancer job outfit. In FFV, the four heroes you control are from the World of Light and are actual Warriors of Light. The Spectral Barbarian is the one that people are still the most confused about who that may be. :) But it is fair to say that each of them, in their own way, are likely Warriors of Light from other reflections(titles).

Also, to note on Lena, she was the only party member that was posed by Melusine, which was a demon of the void in FFV. So that could be the reason for being tainted, while still being a Warrior of Light.

The main reason these 3 jobs for the boss were chosen was because they were previously rejected for use in the game as actual jobs due to being too "tainted" in nature. Its why rogue is a rogue rather than Thief. Same for why necro wasn't developed. Of course, this was all the design directions we had before now. Recent classes have been veering closer to ambigious Dark Knight with its darkness fueled powers motivated by live and dedication, and reapers who do good by attaching themselves to a void sent.

if the spectral necromancer foreshadowing and your theory end up being true, and we end up getting a necromancer caster job for 7.0, i will explode out of excitement although i would also be really happy about getting to talk to some of the other reflection's warriors of light in a less deadly scenario, would be really cool to hear their stories, their problems and how we could potentially help them

I can't imagine getting Necromancer for lore reasons Necromancy in FF14 is achieved by torturing a soul and tethering it to a corpse It's by definition an unfathomable evil and just cannot be justified from a heroic perspective

@simj202 Год назад
@@NuclearNecro But none of these are evil, just dark. Reaper has the WoL offering a trade with their Avatar, a working relationship. They use the power of darkness for justice, as did the Reapers of old. Dark Knight channels negative emotions to fuel their strength and uses it against tyrants and despots and the evils of the world, and it's also mentioned that love is technically the strongest emotion that a Dark Knight can channel.

I don't think the Necromancer is a voidsent hero. The powers of the 13th seemed somewhat tame, and mostly "normal." With the way a certain "friend" tells us the nature of the other reflections could surprise us, I have a deep feeling that the Necromancer comes from one of the remaining reflections. I also think that what we know as Warrior of Light isn't the exact same, or may have different connotations. Look at how the WoL title is viewed on the 1st. Imagine a reflection that views it almost religiously, and that they are held up as scions of righteousness and nobility. Then imagine you are a skilled necromancer, and then found to be a WoL. Changed world view galore. Or look at the "Warriors of Light" in the 13th itself. I would like to see the tale of the aftermath of that situation caused by Elidibus to play out over not just 7.0, but also 8.0. Hints and clues in 7.0, but actually addressed by going to a new reflection in 8.0. I just don't see much reflection hopping outside of the 13th and 1st, until 8.0. I think Mericydia and/or the New World will be the base locations for 7.0, to keep the adventurer feel going, with the trial/side story based around Yshtola finding the safe way to traverse the Reflections, and goes to the 1st. It makes sense to do the more grounded, easier to hand over to the intern stories, while doing an update to graphics and other things systemically.
@WyrmLimion
@WyrmLimion Год назад
I fully agree. I think Y'shtola's discovery will get to us The Thirteenth and for them to revisit The First. I could see it playing out towards the end of the next expansion, maybe Patch 7.4 and beyond. I agree with you that New World and Meracydia would likely be our next expansions destination, but I also feel what's happening in the story right now will have a direct effect.

@@WyrmLimion Oh definitely! I honestly don't think it is Ysh that gets the info on how to return to the 13th through study. I think Golbez sends us it, after he partially initiates his plan. I am kinda thinking... that 7.0 will have two Kugane like locations, Garlemald and the 13th, but the 13th will be a bit more in-depth and make use of the Cute Couple and the 13th Warriors (Gaia and Ryne and Unkulkhai, the Bartender who I forgot her name, and Zero) probably awakening or at least utilizing Eden ex Machina. That will be some of the side content in 7.0, since we know that 6.5 should be "pre-expansion" story.

I hadn't thought about the effect it might have on other shards. I wonder if it would be possible that since Elidibus only summoned a part of their souls and sepcifically their devotion to the warriors of light that the effect to those who were summoned was less pronounced. If G'raha was summoning souls in their entierety which left the scions bodies behind still, I think it would be possible then that if only a fraction of the soul was taken then the majority of it plus the body would remain. Perhaps like a minor sundering, and maybe there was just a mass dizzy spell that afflicted those who were summoned. Far less dramatic of a result but I still know little about what exactly constitutes a soul in game. Comparing our WOL to the People of the first we are 6-7 times rejoined and they are assumidly 1/14 of an amouratine and yet we are corporealy similar enough in the eyes of y'shtola to not make specific note of. Also even though he directly confronted us Elidibus was still acting as emissary and attempting to maintain balance. With that in mind, robbing multiple shards of their heros would run counter to that mission as they would likely all start plummeting away from whatever alignment was un mind for their rejoining.
@moayedalmalki8455

@BlackCap784
@BlackCap784 Год назад
been thinking about it since i've finished up 5.3. personally, i'm still of the opinion "fragments of their soul" mentioned by Elidibus is simply the individuals' wishes, hopes, emotions and ambitions. their will so to speak. their dynamis. in this case, their will to vanquish darkness. it would explain why an unsundered rich in aether like Elidibus could suddenly be able to manipulate dynamis, as he'd taken on, manipulating, the dynamis of others in the other shards. these spectres are apparently Warriors of Light, so if they were in their complete physical forms, they'd be able to push the whole Norvrandt alliance back. but as simply Dynamis, something as aether-rich as any of the "half-men" of the reflections may have a chance of fending the weaker ones off. as for Hildibrand, i'd posit that his dynamis somehow became an anchor to the First the moment he got knocked out, bringing along the rest of his soul from the Rift, giving him physical form in the First. but then again, it's Hildibrand... so we may want to take that with a grain of salt. but maybe i'm being hopeful and wrong. maybe i just rather not think that hundreds of warriors of light among the 13 other shards, through the ages had died, gone mad, or lose their powers after having a chunk of their actual soul plucked away into the First. or maybe once their spectres were "killed" or sent back, it was as if nothing happened, as if they had a short momentary daydream for them or they're mind went blank, dazing at space for a few seconds without any long term detrimental harm done.
@Draylin41
@Draylin41 Год назад
I'm worried the summoned heroes were either killed or changed somehow. It could mean evils that they were keeping at bay took control of the Shards they were from or even Elidibus's influence corrupted them and maybe they try to take up the Ascian's cause and we're forced fight them to stop another rejoining from happening. There's so many possibilities for what they could do with a story centered around one or more of the Shards we haven't visited. I'm excited to see what they have in store for us when we eventually find a safe way to travel to them.

Great topic, and I think back to this "dungeon" often as it is one of my favorite moments of the whole expansion. I like to think that rather than being left totally helpless and fully transported to another dimension, that the warriors who were susceptible to the call entered a form of sleep like a lucid dream state. When their aether was dispersed, their consciousness would be rejoined back to them, much like astral travel might be considered. Not totally safe because that part of their soul or aether may or may not have been restored....just depends on whether "soul" is a restorable resource in this case like aether is. As for the bosses, thats a tough one. Is it possible that they were brought more fully in because they were easier to manipulate for one reason or another? The Berserker and the Necro I can see why they might be, but the "Thief" or Treasure Hunter I'm not so sure.

Spectral Swordsman is a reference to FF1's Fighter sprite. While the Spectral Black Mage looks more akin to FF3's Magus, but that's only because the hat. It's obviously a Black mage. 4:30 - Adventurer's are _NOT_ Warriors of Light, the only one who can be defined as Warrior of Light are the one under the Blessing of Light after they did the retcon. Else, they are Echo-users. This is because FFXIV's lore is a clusterfok and always has been. So in other words, each of these WoL's are from different time periods, each blessed by the Light in turn to do Hydaelyn's bidding. 5:05 - Spectral Thief is based on Locke from FF6. Of course in FF6 the idea of Crystals and WoL was not a thing really but that's beside the part. The spectral Necromancer is probably based on Faris or Lenna from FF5, as that game has the job system and one of the bonus jobs they added were Necromancer. In FF5 as well, there were Crystals that bestowed the job system upon the main cast, thus granting them the title of Warrior of Light. And the Spectral Berserker, ditto. Also FF5 most likely, or FF3. 7:20 - It's just a reference to other FF games. Zero is a reflection of you, Azem. Some day, we will eat her and become even stronger. 8:48 - That's easy. Assuming they died, that can only mean they return to the Aetherial sea and most importantly, being that they *are* Warriors of Light, they will become a part of us and make us stronger. If they are not, then their souls will cause more Echos to happen for others, making other people stronger to perhaps rise up and become fighters in their own rights. Or did the echo stuff only happen if a whole world was ruined... Either way, if they die, they return to the sea to be reborn. If slaying the spirit only sends them back, well, they might wake up with a debuff. Lel. 9:30 - Naah, that'd mean actual competent storytelling. 10:54 - No it's not. As I said, that'd require competent storytelling :3 11:05 - We already have. Zero is us. We are Zero. One will feed the other like Ardbert did.
