Having a super vocal group debuting with a generic hip Kpop song was terrible

People are saying "calm down, it's just their debut" but this is so alarming in this overcompetitive industry full of popular and frequent changes :/ I hope they can fix stuff with a comeback, so that the girls get fame and quality they deserve

I wish they had taken the Kiss of Life route and actually showed us WHY we should think they’re badass in their MV. On top of that Kiss of Life showed the group taking on school bullies, harassment from older men, things that teenage girls and older women alike have to deal with. I wish nothing but good things in their careers and hope that they have a bright future!

Tbh, there are much better groups with better concept and style, this is gonna be a real failure if YG doesn’t step up :(((

i’m new to kpop but it strikes me as so weird the group they’re clearly trying to make big isn’t being promoted on music shows?? is that normal?? how i got into kpop is from stage performances but they’re not gonna have any ?!

Don't hate me, guys, but this is my opinion, and every person has their own preferences, but I watch the video and listen to the song. I just don't like the music, and I hope yg give them a new song, but one that fits their voices and also the vibe that the group shows.

If Ahyeon left YG, I think it's good. She deserves much more. ❤ But yeah, I am sorry for other girls 🙁

The only thing I'll say is just to remind people that it's nice to have hope of the "wait and see" mentality since this is their debut. However, we must remember that this is a YG group. YG groups have comebacks every 2 years at the lastest. That's my only concern here. If this is their debut and they're not promoting, and given YG's track record regarding comebacks, what will happen to the group? Just food for thought.

YG is so unpredictable but in a messy way

for me yg is lost from an agency that is number 2 on the korean market (after SM) they fell outside the top 5. as a Blackjack and former Blink i need to say that they screwed up the brand they had created. 1. they are no longer creative and fashionable, their music has been the same for 7 years. They always said about quality but they dont have it. 2. They constantly delay everything, thinking that they are not threatened by competition. Wake up ! you are not the only music label in Korea and no one will wait years for a song or album. 3. is a music label that does not release music and they don't promote groups enough...everywere . 4. you managed to promote BlackPink with minimal involvement. Yes girls are famous yes they have record on spotify and youtube and etc but they don't have songs for which people will remember them for years, they will remember the lack of satisfaction from the most famous group in history. 5. I remember Yg from the days of BigBang and 2ne1 when yg had a soul, now it has lost it to being a bland agency with a big ego

I think using “ wasted potential “ is not yet accurate. It’s just the debut and there is much much more to come. It’s only the debut song and this doesn’t need to define the group. I agree that YG should’ve had a much better concept for babymonster showcasing their abilities . But we should look forward to other songs before making statements about whether the group is actually successful or not . YG seriously needs to work on their promotions if they want the gg to succeed. Let’s also not ignore the immense pressure on girls. All in all the girls have great abilities and i hope YG ups their game and not waste them like bp.

I was so excited for this group the amount of times I danced and listened to babymonsters 2NE1 remix, and after hearing the song I was like what is this, the only reason why I keep listening to batter up atm is because I’ve found this version of AI blackpink singing Batter up and trust me Batter up sounds more suited to BP, hopefully we can see Babymonsters vocal’s showcased in future songs which may take years knowing YG

I genuinely feel like 'Batter Up' was made last minute.😭 And I think they're really waiting for Ahyeon before they perform/promote in music shows. (I hope) It's YG, he's so f predictably unpredictable or whatev, idek anymore 🤦🤦🤷🤷

for the record, I'm a fan of 2nd gen (2ne1) and have been looking forward to baemon since they've said in an announcement that baemon would debut with a strong hiphop concept but this really is not it. I hoped that before they debuted, the company didn't push their hip-hop agenda to these girls. I hoped that they would've tried to find the voice color of these girls first or start with a soft concept first then eventually transition to girl crush when they are READY for the stronger concepts. Not saying they can't do the bad ass but their age really shows in the mv and the way they present themselves. idk but the hiphop side seems forced to them except for the rappers. Or they could've released 2 title tracks like what they did with BP to show another side of these girls. I really feel bad for these girls. YGE should really stop relying on their traditional techniques and try to keep up with the market trends. For a company who is a pioneer of girlcrush in kpop, YGE is lacking right now.

the girls are very talented, no denying that. the raps were very good with good flow, however, the song just felt a bit bland. it kinda seemed like a blackpink rap unit reject song ngl.. wishing them the best though!

they're trying the same trick they did with blackpink: giving almost nothing to fans and public in hopes of making us curious and wanting more... but this is where they got it wrong: blackpink debuted super strong, with good music (whistle was amazing and SUPER different.. something yg stopped doing) and they had jennie that already had a fanbase, they had lisa that back then was a different face in kpop world compared to today. rose and jisoo gained more popularit as the years when by. they don't have any of that with babymonster. the most popular member is out and the music sucks... theres nothing to wait for after that debut

The song is good. The lyrics are meh, but I don't understand Korean, so it doesn't bother me much. Yes, the song is a definite BP song. I hope they change it up in the future and give them their own sound. My only complaint is the lack of safety shorts for these young girls. Newjeans didn't invent safety shorts, so use them! Edit: I'm not dogging on Newjeans for wearing safety shorts. I highly appreciate it since their fanbase is more male. I'm just saying that Babymonster wouldn't be copying them or any group for wearing them

Whatever you might think of JYP, at least they know how to do a survival show and succesful debut. Have the timing of the broadcast line up so that the girls can release their first pre-debut song right after the survival show final. Get a few more pre-debut songs ready and keep fans engaged with behind the scenes videos. This gives the company time to work on a big debut off screen, while the audience gets content to keep them interested. The formula is right there, so I don't understand why YG dropped the ball this hard with Babymonster.

I think they just made batter up in just 15 days. As the plans they made didn't go like what they thought about as Ahyeon got sick. So they just tried to cover up things as they had already postponed their debut so many times. Let wait for her to come back then we can judge if they are actually wasting their potentials or they just cover it up for Ahyeon.

For me it felt like a B-side song which was pushed to be a debut song. Love the talent on Babymonster but agree this song was NOT a good debut song. They should have had a song similar to the cover of Jennifer Lopes 'Jenny from the block' they did. In my opinion those sound suits them really well.

I just think, the strong points of Blackpink became the weak points of Babymonster. From the 6 girls, there’s no Jennie, no Lisa, no Jisoo, but a bunch of Roseys. The only supposed Jennie version, Ahyeon even left suddenly & quit out of nowhere. And even their center visual Chiquita, Yes she’s pretty, but not charming enough, they trying so hard to push her into a dancing Macaque. Or maybe, the concept just doesnt suit them.

I think YG need BP for the investors, they really need it to renew there contract. BM MV 1st day until today YG stock market dropping, Investors are not happy. But it's to early to predict if they can build YG again. Now newjeans are popular korea and international. Big pressure to them. Even there are very talented BM but the investors are not happy and no income putting inside to YG. This will be failure to them. YG will be bankrupt if there not fixing it.

for girl crush concept within 4th gen and 5th gen (if 5th gen actually exists), still the standard gg for me is everglow. BM's girl crush has no soul and feels empty.

They actually reminded me more of 2NE1 then BP ever has. I don’t know how that will go over in this Gen of Kpop tho. I didn’t like seeing the same thing I saw with BP but more tho which is recycled MV scenes and dance moves (it’s obvious so it’s clearly supposed to be an homage to the other groups but it comes off as cheap). YG probably planned that they will be the group to replace Black Pink since they will be 'maturing out.' That's probably why their music is basically from Teddy's vault. So they are the new Black Pink and when 'Baby' Monster matures out, they'll be replaced again with another group with the same music. They've been doing this since 2NE1. You'll see change in the music if they allow the girls to create their own music, but that won't happen with YG. They're performers for YG not artists.

And it is boring if they stick to one concept from their debut because there is so much talent within the group. And the mindset of these girls are so amazing they know what they want, and they are ready to conquer anything, and they are very professional than the narrator of this channel.
