This is always my favorite Hodinkee video of the year! It’s so cool to see the variety of types and price points of watches that Hodinkee staff are wearing. This year for me, it was my DateJust 126200, which my wife gifted me for our 15th anniversary this February.
The watch I wore most was my JLC reverso medium. Bought it at the end of 2020 when my daughter was born. Engraved with her name and DOB. Worn it pretty much ever since. Still get goosebumps when I flip the case to see her name 😀 Love this hodinkee segment and hearing all about other people and their watches.
Loved seeing the Longines 5-star admiral on the list because it was my most worn watch of this year as well(mine is the ufo/lug-less case)! Found it in my grandfather's model-airplane toolbox, and it began ticking right away on my wrist. I didn't want to take it off, and it really has started my love of vintage watches.
My most worn watch this year was my casioak black rubber, its kind of my lucky charm as i managed to write a pretty good maths score. Got exams coming up next year so please wish me luck fellas.
8:42 This is my Speedmaster that MY WIFE Purchased for me last christmas.... Me: Fair Enough Cool Wife 8:50 Im Very Thankful my Wife agreed to allow ME to Purchase this Speedmaster.... Me: UMM Wait A Second!!
Seiko SPB143 all day followed by the Tank. I'm comfortable wearing my Seiko in just about any situation. Love the tank but I'm not wearing it while I'm camping or doing yard work.
Hodinkee has morphed or evolved out of all recognition, in the past couple of years: Crown & Caliber pre-owned business and Insurance. Hardly any of the original writers from a couple of years ago remain. I suspect, as I know one person here wears a Batman Rolex GMT 126710BLNR most of the time and has said it’s his ‘daily driver,’ that there is a bit of a Grand Seiko and also Seiko product placement going on. Like the recent ‘story’ Danny Milton did, ‘advising’ his friend who was peculiarly impecunious, despite having a well paid job, to get, a Seiko, at the same time they were being pushed by Teddy Balldessere on his channel. Ben has cashed his chips in from Hodinkee and moved on from New York and looks like a well dressed guru.
what would you recommend to someone who isnt sure whether theyd actually enjoy a mechanical/automatic watch? obviously it would be something under $1k, as there is the possibility they wont enjoy it. And what is wrong with Seiko? There are people who clearly enjoy them over whatever it is you enjoy.
@@thefallen924 I love Seiko too. Have a bunch. I also have Speedmasters, Rolex, etc. But you can’t beat an 80s turtle. As to Hodinkee changing? Yeah. All companies that grow change. And Ben has looked the same forever. Saw a little grey around the temples. But otherwise his “sweater-wear” appeared about the same to me.
@@Judah.Rosenthal agreed! first automatic i got myself was a seiko 5. have a great friend that gifted me an oris, and just a couple of weeks ago i got myself the speedmaster moonwatch. It's easy to see the jumps in quality at the different price points. I love the artistry and engineering that goes into different brands. I hope to be able to get a Rolex one day without paying a ridiculous inflated scalper price. at the same time, i find it more interesting when someone daily drives a grand seiko over a Batman GMT.
Months ahead of schedule for me, but recently got a longines spirit chronograph back in April of 2022. Bowled my first 300 game in it and I know it's going to be my most worn watch from when I got it to the end of 2022 and beyond.
I really like these year in reviews. Very interesting to see some of the vintage watches that you guys love. Not a lot of obvious choices, that was interesting too.
@@jjmot27 yeah , it's extremely versatile and with the navichron hairspring i can lay it down friday before the weekend and itll still be running on Monday morning. Stays within cosc over the whole powercurve.
EXCELLENT video! We love the variety- Mido, Weiss, Speedy, IWC, Blancpain, etc...such a great site for all things horology! The watch I wore the most in 2021 was a GMT Master II (Coke) I think 2022 will be a Cartier Must tank XL automatic. Yep.
My most worn watch in 2021 was my skx009 on the jubilee. Just replaced the click spring and that bezel is like butter. Blue and red is a strong vibe... Maybe I need a GMT?
Great video, I really enjoyed watching. Although I have more expensive watches, I still wear the most my first automatic watch, the Seiko 5 SNK80? with the sand dial on different nato straps.
“..sweatpants and tank, it’s the new norm” 😀 The best observation came at the end of the year. 👍🏼 I agree with it literally, and if you love the watch you should just wear it. Thanks for a great year in watches, and HAPPY NEW YEAR to everyone! Wish you all a great celebration as midnight strikes around the world 🥳
@hodinkee How much do you pay your Video Producers, that they're able to buy a Cartier as soon as the join! I have been working for 15 years, and still can't buy it in my dreams! Do you have a vacancy? :)
I really appreciate your channel i am a blind person i listen about a lot of talking watches through your channel the real thing is that i am jobless and I can't afford it so I request you to please help me and give me a talking Watch as a gift my all prayers and best wishes for you God bless you please reply to me thank you
Skx009 or my mudmaster with the step tracker. I get just as much enjoyment out of those 2-400 dollar watches as I do from watches 10 and up times their price. The price you pay for what you get with Seiko and Casio rivals any luxuary watch I own and will own, plus most people wear their Seiko's and Casios most of the time anyway. Next year I'll hopefully have a brand new deep-sea and hopefully it will be my most worn watch of 2022. Although my new g shock GM 2100s and gmws will contend for that spot.
The watch I've worn most this year was a unbranded, completely translucent watch that is so light that it doesn't even feel like I'm wearing one(and it doesn't really show the time soo... not so practical, eh) Got myself an Casioak not too long ago and looking forward to wear it next year.
I expected a little bit more variety but ugh sign of the times, zzzzz Roles Rolex Rolex. Seiko SRQ029 guy and Longines Admiral gal gets a huge thumbs up.
The watch I've worn the most is my Rolex Hulk that required the I sale of a 5513 Maxi Lollipop in 2016 and I have never looked back. That and my GS Snowflake that I purchased for my 50th ran a close second to the Hulk.
Grand Seiko Snowflake SBGA211 bought in December 2020, even better with the Jean-Rousseau strap acquired shortly after. Still thinking of the next one(s).
