Love how you title each tracks from specific parts of the game It gives me a chuckle when I see a [*insert Weapon/Magic/Associated Environment here* Mix] while listening to one for the first time For example: Thor's 1st encounter theme says "Mjölnir Mix" simply 'cuz we get to see his hammer in action. Thor's rematch theme has "Ragnarök Mix", obviously takes place at the near end of the game.
The final phase is my fav. Heimdall loses his composure and gives up on dodging, he legit just wildly swings at you and the music goes haywire. It's dope.
It could have been from his mental state. I might be looking too far into it, but Heimdall is quite a perfectionist, he speaks of Asgard without flaws, he moves and fights without flaw up until Kratos lands that 1st punch, Heimdall begins to crack throughout the 2nd phase of just him vs. Kratos as his insults and tone become more frantic and instinctual. Then he loses his arm and he finally snaps, for once he's being bested and that completely breaks his psychy, revealing his true nature of being a psychotic, rabid animal rather than a sophisticated and calculated Watchman of the Aesir, and in the face of that reality coming to light Heimdall goes mad from it.
I am cracking up at "goblin laugh", that's exactly what I thought when I heard Heimdall make that sound while launching himself at me from 100 feet away at a dead goblinesque sprint
For those wondering why this theme is so similar to Magni and Modi, I personally believe that this theme represents the lesser Aesir. Magni, Modi, Heimdall, Forseti. All of them are not as powerful as Baldur, Thor, or Odin. They may be tough, but they're far below the might of the aforementioned 3 Norse gods. The only reason this one is slightly different is because Heimdall is probably the greatest among the lesser Aesir. Just my thoughts
@OrhanDaLegend back in those days strength dictated whether you were a lesser or greater member of a group. Heimdall's only strength was bifrost and his foresight. He had no combat experience nor other elemental powers. Hence why he was a lesser Aesir
Heimdall is not a lesser Aesir he is literally the son of odin and equal to baldur if not stronger, it is said only Odin can truly defeat him and even Thor is gonna have a hard time because he literally can't get hit, if it wasn't for his overconfidence and being cocky and he actually trained he would be the most powerful, also he is one of the few gods that kratos needed a particular and special weapon designed just for HIM, I know if he didn't hold back he could have defeated him without the spear but still that says a lot about heimdall
@samuraigames4125 i can guarantee you now that Heimdall was a pushover. His only troublesome characteristic was his foresight. But remember what Kratos said. "I have killed gods greater than him." During the fight with him, Kratos also says "the spear remains our best chance, " implying that Kratos still had other plans to take him down. The spear just made things easier. Also, Heimdall was literally deterred by Thor when he fought Atreus. The version of Heimdall you are referring to is most likely the actual Heimdall from mythology, who is far better, stronger, and a better fighter than this Heimdall. Thor could easily solo Heimdall with his own strength and speed as well as another factor. Also, remember the fight with Magni and Modi? Both of them were tough. The straight up sons of Thor, but they too were lesser Aesir, because they are not as strong or as important as Odin, Thor, or Baldur. Heimdall's foresight comes from reading the minds of his opponent and using his speed to react. But his speed isn't a big boast. Other characters in the game are faster. And some characters don't think when they fight. Thor especially. Also what I mean by lesser Aesir is that they're Aesir gods but they're not as powerful or on par with the greater Aesir gods, like Thor, Odin, and Baldur
Or the Theme is just the perfect choice for a boss fight that involves Kratos beating the shit out of someone bullyig Atreus. I noticed the Magni & Modi theme plays in one of the Musphelheim trials on 2018 God of War, specifically the one where you have to protect Atreus from getting snatched by enemies 💀
I just noticed: the theme doesn’t start ramping up till the third phase. Throughout all of this, Heimdall is only taking us seriously near the end of the fight, when we actually hit him. Before that, he’s just playing with us
I like how theres a bit of deliverance at the start, as heimdall is also quite depressed, heimdall knows what everyone really thinks of him and knows hes always being lied to so nothing really matters to him anymore, not to mention he has never been hurt either so he has no real challenges. like how baldur just felt nothing all the time because nobody could kill him. I love how they convey that through that music at the start, it could also imply they were close allies once because of how nobody could seemingly kill them, they are such a contrast and yet give off the same energy, how baldur is invincible to everything while heimdall never is able to get hit by anything because he sees it coming a mile away
The music is tense, don’t get me wrong, but it feels like Baldur’s theme made him more of a menace than Heimdall. However, this fight still worked well thanks to Atreus’s chapters in Asgard where we see Heimdall’s attitude towards Kratos’ son. Thanks for the upload!

Phase 4 sounds so unhinged yet so desperately trying to maintain previous composure. Like Heimdall kinda knows he's losing it, and is trying to bring back his facade of arrogance. However he is so filled with anger he just can't.
Funny how I always wished for the final beat of the "Sons of Thunder" to be longer, and Heimdall's version is pretty much the final beat extended and improved 9:49
I'm actually glad they brought back and remixed magni and modi theme because it was my favourite track in 2018 but you can barely hear it during the fight because of all the shouting, trash talk and stuff which is a pity. It fitted more with a quiet but intense battle of wit between kratos and heimdall imo.
The journey lead to this one specific moment.. even crafting a new legendary weapon especially for Heimdall. He was one of the strongest aesir.. and Kratos had to fight him alone. This was such a monumental fight. It really felt like a "you or me" fight. This was one of my favorite battles in gaming so far

@@shaishavpathak It's a motif meant for loyal Aesir gods, I suppose. Magni and Modi were loyal to their uncle, and especially their father. They wanted to impress Thor, they died. Heimdall was loyal to Odin, he wanted to impress Odin, and he too died. That's the most logical explanation for it.
@@sackmm If they reused only the motif that would be fine, but it's literally the exact same soundtrack. Search up "Magni and Modi OST" from God of War 2018. It's the same music copy-pasted.

Would make sense because of the army’s use of the bifrost But this remix makes sense as well because Magni & Modi we’re like the Bully gods interfering with Kratos and threatening Atreus while on their journey in GOW4. Heimdall did Modi’s job of bullying Atreus any chance he had and then Magni’s job with fighting Kratos. He also did Magni’s job by brutally fucking dying at the end of that fight

Its awesome how we can hear bits of Baldur's theme in the beginning section, foreshadowing how Kratos would essentially have Heimdall at his mercy just like Baldur, but this time he would not show mercy.
I enjoyed beating Heimdall's ass while clowning on him to this music, I may have a skill issue with other bosses but his theme was his greatest attack imo, first time I listened to it I got fucking distracted by it and died, I am not ashamed.

You know, i get that mimir was just making sure that kratos wasn't becoming the man that the norns would almost predict. But if i had history of cocky guys, and some dude was openly insulting both me and my son and threatening the son i am trying love, protect, and give proper lessons to survive. Yah, i'd be pretty fucking livid.
I think that was Odin/Thors plan, or atleast one of them. Cause tension in the group by letting/beating out the God Of War out into the open, for everyone to see. Not kratos's strength or tactics or even his rage, but his inability to cooperate or communicate with others, unwillingness to listen or think of others, which may be who Kratos is on the inside. Kratos even says it himself, that he was starting to become himself, secretive and secluded. Even if what Kratos has done is justified (most of it isnt) its still cruel and unusual at best.
Imagine in the third game or in more Ragnarok dlcs Stories the fight against Forseti,Hela,Hermod,Vidar,Vali and Loki/Atreus Adult Now as a villain + The heroes Siegfried/Sigurd & Beowulf and The return of Baldur,Heimdall,Magni and Modi and also Odin and Thor are still alive Imagine what it will be like their theme songs 🤔😎😌👍 like and Bye!
