It's almost like they're living in some sort of simulation; the parameters are set by the people in charge and those with no options are forced to follow those parameters by taking jobs that don't pay enough, and living in areas that they can afford but are harmful to their health. It's a self fulfilling prophecy at that point; no room for growth or change, only a perpetual cycle of poverty and being born into that poverty. All because some greedy bastards value their 7th mansion more than the lives of thousands of people, fantastic.

Amanda P, racism is most assuredly real ...but class is really pushing the agenda now. The wealth gap is getting wider and the people with REAL money are pushing the ones without to blame, hate, and fight the ones in the exact same boat. Even the so-called middle class is barely getting by now: teachers, small business owners, managers, bus drivers, Amazon workers etc. We need to be out fighting for people to have a living wage, lower taxes, and affordable homes.

Vice - My town Riddle, Oregon has one of the most polluted mines in the U.S, 6 miles away EPA Superfund Site that hasn't been cleaned up going on 30 years now. Formosa Mine. Please look into this. Edit - This is from BLM website regarding the Formosa Mine I am talking about. The 76-acre Formosa Mine site is located on Silver Butte in Douglas County, Oregon. This abandoned mine discharges millions of gallons of acid rock drainage (ARD) and toxic metals into the upper reaches of Middle Creek and South Fork Middle Creek every year. These discharges have contaminated surface water, groundwater, soil and sediment with heavy metals.

I live in a city of nearly 1,000,000 people. We have unlined coal ash ponds within our city limits that are within the range of a 100 year flood. We are projected to get more rain and increased floods over the next decades. Those unlined coal ash ponds are a ticking time bomb. One bad flood will have that toxic waste mix with the river and impact tens of thousands of residents and pollute a wellfield protection area just down river. It would be like the Dan River Coal Ash Spill except in a large urban area.

"We want to build coal plants here, dump waste in these ponds." "OK, you need liners for those ponds." "We know, but that'll cost us some time and money." "Um, but you'll still make money, correct?" "Yes." "OK, then put in the liners." "No." "OK." - Georgia 1982

In 1982 everybody knew an impermeable liner was needed in order to prevent leaching into groundwater. This is environmental racism/classism.
