Will beach sand screw up the quick connect/release seals, i wonder--
@MADYETIEXPEDITIONS
@MADYETIEXPEDITIONS 3 года назад
It comes with a rubber cap that goes over the quick connect and Adrian from WaterPort told me it will help prevent the seals from drying out in the sun. Ive driven about 7k miles since install and the cap is holding strong and hasn't come off or anything like that. In my opinion it does the job with protecting the seals from the elements.

Love the new tank! Is there a way for me to mount this on or in the bed of my F150? I do not have a roof rack.

I am not sure. It is pretty long so you may need some roof rack type system to safely carry it. I use Prinsu and Prinsu has mounts for the WaterPort.

He has tracks installed on his bed cap, most brands have the option to have them installed from the factory. You can install them afterwards but im pretty sure it voids the warranty. I have a prinsu mounted on my bed cap. It's pretty straight forward

Yes it can, but you'll need to find steel t-slot nuts that fit in the track.

What kind of material is the tank made of and is the water from it safe for human consumption?
@MADYETIEXPEDITIONS
@MADYETIEXPEDITIONS 3 года назад
It is food grade plastic, so yes... it can hold potable / drinking water. I would just suggest you research how long stored water stays safe for. For example, I probably wouldn't store water in it for months and then drink it. But some research would help with learning safe storage times, etc.

Does anyone know how they made it function that the tank pressurize itself through the watervalve?
@dinoolivas6212
@dinoolivas6212 2 года назад
The air that is trapped inside is what causes it to pressurize. As the water fills the tank, the air has nowhere to go. That is how it is pressurized.

I don't work for them so Im not sure. But I know for sure COVID slowed a lot of US production down. For example, if the company that makes the rubber seals wasn't able to get their materials to make the seals to then send to WaterPort, WaterPorts production line would not be able to complete the tanks and ship them to customers. I know of a few other manufacturing companies that are experiencing setbacks due to COVID. Hopefully this gets turned around soon. Another place you could check is CostCo. I know they were selling the WaterPort systems there.

The problem with this is that the water weight is 64 lbs. plus the weight of the waterport, plus the weight of mounting brackets and hardware. Lets call it 70lbs. plus the weight of the rack itself, call it 40lbs That's 110 lbs for just a rack and waterport, etc. This is a lot of weight to be carrying up on a roof rack and alot of that weight is on one side. You wont safely be able to put much else up on your roof, dynamic load will be quickly breached. And the truck's roof has a limit too. I think its 150 lbs. total
@MADYETIEXPEDITIONS
@MADYETIEXPEDITIONS 3 года назад
My shell is rated for 450-500 LBS or there about. With the fuel I carry on the opposite side the weight is distributed pretty evenly when full. Nothing else goes up there besides water and fuel and even at that the weight is distributed pretty well with the Prinsu rack. This tank may not be for everyone, but I love it. We never run out of water on weekend excursions. WaterPort offers smaller tanks as well that may suit you better if concerned about weight.

@PS987654321PS 3 года назад
@@MADYETIEXPEDITIONS The comment is about the roof/ roof rack not the shell on your bed. Dynamic load on a Tacoma roof is very limited. Yes the smaller one is 35 lbs which is more reasonable. Everyone should worry about weight. Dynamic load is nothing to trifle about especially if you need to take evasive action in an emergency situation. The roof dynamic load on a Tacoma is significantly less than what a lot of people put up there. Think, 100 lbs maximum (including roof rack) dynamic...
@MADYETIEXPEDITIONS
@MADYETIEXPEDITIONS 3 года назад
@@PS987654321PS Yeah people should do their research before loading anything onto their vehicles. My weight is evenly distributed on the prinsu rack on the shell and I am below maximum weight limits on the shell or the rack. Also you've mentioned Tacomas a few times... the truck in the video is a Tundra. You should make a video teaching people about dynamic load and proper ways to set up a vehicle. Im sure beginners to overloading / off-roading would love to check it out.
@PS987654321PS
@PS987654321PS 3 года назад
@@MADYETIEXPEDITIONS The Toyota Tundra or Tacoma has similar load limits on the roof. Do you think the roof load is meaningfully different? Your Prinsu rack weight, and the weekender water tank weight, plus 8 gallons of water weight (66.4 pounds), plus 2 roof boxes weight and whatever the weight is inside them and you are already probably way over. Plus, you've got 70+ lbs hanging off the passenger side alone. If you were in a situation where you needed to take emergency maneuvers you'd be in big trouble quickly and liable for any accident, injury, death. I hope you're not driving with that water tank full... Again, this has nothing to do with the maximum weight limits of the rack or shell itself or how your weight is distributed. I'm speaking to Toyota's roof limits for static and dynamic load. There's no need to get passive-aggressive or sarcastic just because you don't know what you are talking about. Your insecurities do not override safety. It's not that complicated. www.fatherly.com/gear/how-much-stuff-can-you-load-on-a-car/ Additionally, you open yourself up to insurance claim denial and a lawsuit if you are involved in a crash and injure someone. You can also be liable if you knowingly give misinformation online, whilst presenting yourself as some sort of authority. This is why disclaimers are presented to the public. Perhaps liability is why Waterport isn't making "official" marketing videos themselves but having you surreptitiously do it do it for them?
@MADYETIEXPEDITIONS
@MADYETIEXPEDITIONS 3 года назад
@@PS987654321PS I enjoy your responses, and all the edits to your posts as you think of additional things to say. Lol. For starters I did my research on what I could safely load and am well below it. But this video isn't about how to load a roof rack, drive with a loaded rack, calculate static vs dynamic loads, liability for accidents or anything else you mentioned. More importantly, I did not represent myself as any kind of authority of anything in this video. It was an unboxing and install video done by the owner of that company for their product. I'd understand you responding to this video with concern if I was incredibly and obviously loaded unsafely but you don't know my driving style, truck modifications, or anything else about what I have on the rack. While I find it entertaining, I don't understand why you want to continue to post after you've already said what you have to say. RU-vid is filled with thousands of videos just like this one with people unboxing and installing. WaterPort didn't ask me to make this video in lieu of them making their own videos - a quick google search would show you that. WaterPorts are sold by dozens of retailers all around the world... including Costco. You could probably reach out to their legal team if you wanted more information about their disclaimers, or to the several roof rack companies that make WaterPort specific mounting brackets for their racks. This is just a fun unboxing video of a product I use when I camp. So I guess me an my "insecurities" will just keep cruising along. LOL.
