To me, it is THE greatest olympic moment. Lezak's time (which has never been beaten since), beating the french (and beating the 100m FS champ in Bernard in the process), who had been saying how the Americans were going down, and getting Phelps the legendary 8th gold medal... Not only was it a great race, everything around it makes it just unparalleled.

Forget swimming, Phelps is one of the greatest ATHLETES of all-time. One of the intangibles of those that are truly legendary is the manner in which they accomplish their feats; and the way Phelps accomplished his was magical; which brings up another point being that there is a certain air around some athletes of invincibility, Ie. Jordan, Messi, Tyson, Federer etc...and Phelps. This guy reached a status that few athletes do, and deservedly so. To hear him talk about his dedication to his craft helps you to understand why he was so great. And a cannabis user; I knew there was another reason I like him.🏊‍♂🌳🌳🔥😚💨

I'd do it on Manny Pacquiao because his story is incredible. Growing up in poverty in the Philippines, having to sleep on the streets, often with no food to eat, he had to begin pro boxing, as a teenager, just to earn a few dollars to buy some rice. Came to America, shocked the sporting world, competed at a high level for 20 years, won championships in eight different weight divisions, became a multi-millionaire, is loved by Americans, Filipinos, and people all over the world, served as a Senator of the Philippines, and ran for President of his country. Now THAT'S a story!

Olympic Games in Atlanta 1996🇺🇸. Men's Swimming. Individual Gold medals in Men's Swimming. In the entire History of the Olympic Games, in Men's Swimming at the Olympic Games, the 50 and 100 meter Freestyle distances at one single Olympics, only Three won, Matt Biondi (Seoul 1988), Caleb Dressel (Tokyo 2020), Alexander Popov (Barcelona 1992) (Atlanta 1996). but Popov did it on Dressel and Biondi's home territory, in their homeland.
