Actually I know What he did was wrong but He knows that the only way to Survive was to win and there can only be one winner , He is portrayed as a realistic human being You can see that he really wanted to tell his friend about the test You can see it in his eyes But he didn't allow emotions to cloud his judgement, He's nothing more than a desperate man who wanted to survive, He could Have Either died as a good Man or he could have lived as a cruel one.

Saebyeok knew that since Sangwoo approached her, inquiring what she saw, he could easily figure it out based on what she told him. That's probably why she told him to begin with. He did approach her from out of nowhere. She then used him as a guide to make the best decision for herself. Pretty observant on her part. She knew how to make sense of the few clues around her. Makes complete sense for a North Korean escapee. Great storytelling!

I don’t understand how people are defending Sang-woo. I get that he had to do what he had to do for the sake of survival, but in this game he could have just told them what shape to pick. Like, just be honest- it would have had no consequences on him in the slightest. He didn’t care about winning, he wanted others to lose.

Well the truth is if you watch the show, the winner of squid game is the last person alive. Spoiler, but the final challenge is a battle to the death between the remaining players. So technically every person to die in a previous challenge is one less person he would have to kill if he plans to win

@@johnmillion147 I’ve fully watched Squid Game 5 times, so yes I am aware. However, this was only the second challenge and 197 players were still left. It just wouldn’t make any sense for him to try kill of his closest pal there when there were still so many players left. That’s also why I won’t complain about the fact that he killed Sae-byeok when there were only 3 players left, tricked Ali into giving his marbled, shoved the guy in front of him on the wrong tile in the second to last game and when he stabbed Gi-hun when it came down to the two of them. That was all justified. He did what he had to do. However, it was just low of him to try and kill his best friend off when there were still so many players left - nobody would even notice if 1 player would disappear in a group of almost 200 people.

In some instances, Sang Woo’s ruthlessness was necessary, but this game is not an example of that. The game never explicitly states that only one person can win the grand prize. The reason people had incentive to be the only winner was so they could have all the money to themselves and not have to share with anyone else. It actually _benefits_ Sang Woo for his teammates to survive as long as possible if his main concern is survival, but his main motivator here is greed. That’s the only incentive he’d have for leading his own teammates to die. The hatred for Sang Woo is at least partially well-earned.

As I say in other clips, Sangwoo is completely in the right. If anything he wasn't ruthless enough since he could've won in the 5th Game if he was as dishonorable as you all seem to think he is. Think about it, Gi-hun only JUST stepped on to the end right as the clock hit zero and all the glass shattered. So if Sangwoo had waited on the last panel for two seconds... boom, Gi-hun would die... wait 4 seconds? Boom, Sae-Byeok dies. And in those 4 seconds Gi-hun and Sae-Byeok would only be confused. If Sangwoo was as terrible as you all think, he would've won.

You know the people in the comments saying everyone would do the same in his position need to realize that some of us have to much kindness and empathy to do something cruel like that even if it means giving up our life. I would much rather die saving someone’s life than live with the guilt knowing I caused their death.

but in that situation, you probably won’t have as much empathy as you would think. obviously that situation isn’t real so we can say we’d have empathy, but we most likely wouldn’t

@@dontknowausername-oj2hc I would like to add you are overestimating the amount of people who actually have the will to live. So I believe people when they say they wouldn’t do the same as he did because a lot of them wouldn’t, due to a lot of empathy as well as a lack of will to live.
