I think there might be a bit too much talking (and moaning 🙈) in the first half of this vlog, 🤔but don't worry, the second half is better (if you make it that far 😂) Thanks for watching 👍🏼❤
If it's any consolation, we were touring Switzerland France at around the same time in our tiny caravan and the weather was appallingly and relentlessly wet! We also met people who had been in Spain and Italy who suffered the same. Then again, in eastern Europe at the same time they were in heatwaves at 46 degrees. Sometimes mediocrity in weather terms is actually okay :)
@Roz.s Just wanted to thank you and Winston for giving me hope 🙏 of adventure, I m 12 months free of 40 years of domestic violence, was thinking going my life was over, but you've given me hope of a new start with my dog my world Teddy. So I'm taking a towing course then I'll look for a go pod. Thank you for sharing Roz x 🙏
Sad to see you down. Just remember you have over 15,000 folks rooting and thinking of you both and of course one very special and fantastic companion. Big woof for him. Stay safe, well and happy travelling twosome.
It has been a rubbish old summer. It's lovely to have the sun, but I'd have been thinking... at least it means fewer other people about. Winston was so loving that run .... bet he slept like a log that night.
I sympathize entirely , I have had quite a few nights of endless rain and huge winds blattering my caravan , as I am very close to a main road with lots of ferry traffic , so a nights sleep is sometimes impossible but heck I'm on holiday , so lying in to make up for it is possible for me , I spent almost 40 hrs in The NHS so lots of early rises , but heck we all get these off days and sometimes the weather can be a bit naff , so chin up , you are doing sterling work , taking us with you on all your adventures , as for the £30 fine , could be worse , we have all done it , we ended up in the pedestrian area in the middle of Carlisle town centre , with caravan in tow , but managed to escape without a fine , don't think that would be possible nowadays , all the joys of life's experiences and in those days , couldn't even blame SatNav , it was my map reading skills 😊❤😊 really enjoying your videos , they are top notch 😊❤😊
It gives me joy to see how happy Winston is. He really is living his best life with you. His helicopter tail always makes me smile ❤ Glad you were both able to make the most of it after a miserable day.
Love the quote you put up, it’s a bad day not a bad life… We have just returned from South Devon where the weather was nothing but shocking, we got 4 good days out of 14….. Unfortunately our weather up here is unpredictable… Anyway we welcome You & Winston to Scotland 🏴 I hope you enjoy the switch…. Looking forward to next Wednesday
We have all trapped our figures in the car door at one time or another. I did to myself and it wasn’t even windy. You are out there doing it we are sat at home watching you. At least you had the gut to go out there on your own with Winston and visit these places. 😊
I enjoyed his latest video Roz, and the weather I must admit is less than desirable. As with all things you make the best from adverse situations. We go camping with our small dog "Havanese" and he is like a small needy child, not a Winston for sure.
Our caravan door was like that. We bought some stick on draught excluder that went all the way around the door. It gave it a great seal and stopped all the draughts.
Even though you kept putting your middle finger up , I still gave you the thumbs up !😜 Watching you make up the bed , I’m so grateful for my fixed double in my motorhome. Thanks for sharing.
You have every right to moan about the weather, it's been terrible for you (chosen my words carefully!!).Still, you have managed to make me smile; it really is a joy to watch you both. Hope your finger is ok.
Further to my last comment, don't forget you are an inspiration for 1000s out there, including me, how many people would do a solo trip for 64 days,,not many,, right behind you, go girl go,, Dave
Hey Roz. Another great vid. Don't apologise for moaning about the weather; I live in NE Scotland, so wind and rain are frequent here - I understand your frustrations completely!! I appreciate time has moved on since these vids were made, but here's a wee something to buy some chocolate (cake?) for yourself and chicken feet for Winston; the waggiest-tailed dog in the world! Take care you guys and look forward to the next thrilling installment..... 👍🙂
Hey Mark, thanks so much for generously supporting my channel. I'll make sure to use it to get Winston and me some extra treats 😋 I do try to not let the weather affect me. But after a wet winter touring in the caravan and then a windy grey summer in the caravan, it all got a bit much for me. Winston, on the other hand, couldn't care in the slightest 😅 Thanks so much again ❤️🙏
My pleasure! At least you can head South and escape this crap Scottish weather!! @ 06:15…Eh? What? Why? Where? When? Who? WTF? 🤣 Glad to see that something made you want move up North; it’s really not that bad up here as some would try and make you believe. Providing you can accept the iffy weather of course!! 🤷🤪👍
@@tinkeringforfun RAF Buchan / Boddam. Now a site of many other businesses and residential flats / apartments. My dentist (Buchan Braes Dental Clinic) is based there...
@@markgraham3201 I'm okay with bad weather if I'm in a house. At least I can escape it. But it's much harder to face bad weather when in a micro-caravam that gets blown about by the wind 😂🙈
Hi. Sorry you had a tough day. I hope your finger is feeling better. I just returned from camping with family and the wind blew the rear door of my van and it hit the back of my hand. You handled your injury better than I did. So, I have an ugly bruise on my hand. Your ride to the beach was lovely and Winston was so eager to go! Looking forward to next weeks episode. Take care!
Sorry to hear about your hand. I hope it’s been healing well. And I hope you managed to get the door back on your van. It’s always a fear of mine that I lose one of my doors 🙈 Thanks so much for watching and following our adventure!
Hi Roz, just watched your latest video. Good you got over your bad day. Lucky your finger did not get more damaged,it could have almost chopped it off, with that strong wind. Good you went for a ride on your bike. Hope the weather improves for the rest of your adventures. Winston is so lovable, and funny with his antics. Take care, and keep safe, best wishes Tim Melbourne.
It could have been a lot worse. I think I realized that my finger was in the door just milliseconds before it slammed shut, and I slowed it down a bit. Thanks for watching 👍🏼
Another video means another LONG week before your next one... So sad to see you down and hurt but awesome to watch the bit on Winston woofing happily and you laughing at him... Remember the joy there and cherish it.. Till your next video then... ❤❤❤❤
Life is an adventure Roz and it's all character building, even the windy and wet bits! You are living your dream remember and thanks for inviting us all along. Winst loved that bike ride. Who would move to Scotland eh?
We've all moaned about the weather this year. You're too hard on yourself Roz, it's a long trip, there will be off days. If you pretended to be high all the time it would be weird. I'm thoroughly enjoying the realism in your vlog. All fantastic. Keep going!
You poor thing having a finger-squash during a mood-slump. There’s a lot of nerve-endings in the fingers, so it is disproportionately ouch-y when they get injured…plus, because we use them for so many things, it’s awkward not to have them doing full-duty…and it’s a constant reminder that we had a bad day! That said Winston was sooooo squeaky with excitement when he had an old-school bike adventure! Such a happy dog…there is nothing as lovely as the happy bum bum of a doggo ! Maybe Winston has similar philosophical musings in his bike trailer, when he gets to be behind you for once!!! 😆
@@Roz.S that would be nicer for you too! I think the bikes with carriers at the front are called Dutch cargo bikes, but (if Winston would allow the indignity of being lifted up and down) you could probably make do with a butchers bike (big strong platform 'basket' up front instead of a traditional basket) my dog is 26 kg... I'm looking at electric assist, front cargo bikes. Expensive little toy!
I too was in Scotland same time as you, staying in Speyside for the whole of June. It was wet most of June and it does get you down. Just had to make the most of it as its a long way from my home on the south coast of Dorset.
Hi Roz, I'm restoring a car and use a company called Wollies that supply all sorts of car door rubbers, various sizes/ types etc. Might be worth looking online to resolve your windy back door issue! Looking forward to the next installment of your adventures with Winston...
How could you ever have a bad day when your with winston. You are both amazing. His tail could generate more energy than those wind turbines your next to. Superb series.
It can get tiresome at times with the climate especially in the Outer Hebrides. But, as you said, Winston was enjoying himself and that sure makes it enjoyable at a distance. I hope the weather gets better for you by next week.
Another great adventure everyone gets down about the bad weather at least you turned your froun upside down and enjoyed your self in the second part Winston seemed to have fun all the time 😊 god love him do not forget to give him lots of treats he one thing he will love is dried tripe
Ouch! Bet Winston doesn’t mind the weather. Helmet as I say to my grandkids no excuse, a crash on grass can hurt the head and result in a nasty cut, I was young once and didn’t wear a helmet but quickly learnt. Funny story out riding with a mate and it was raining and I came off my bike on a corner and my mate road over me including my head but by this time I was wearing a helmet which split. Take care.
Aww Roz, that looked like a shyte day, the weather is so depressing this year, ive only got out in the tent for 2 nights and 1 of them was in the garden with Remi dog to see how she would be ( she was fine). But thankfully you got out for a bike ride and Winston had a good run, I laughed at your comment about his rse, the tail was like a propeller. Looking fwd to the next episode.
Omg roz the content of your vlogs just gets better and better everyone has a bad day I Hope your finger is better now and what can you say about winston amazing dog and glad to see you went back to the fans custard creams safe travels allways
Hi Roz, I was sat up in bed at 5.30 this morning watching your video with my 2 dogs under the covers with me, one's the Brittany I've mentioned, the other what you call a Lurcher over there (I'm in Melb Aust). There's nothing like it for the lovely comfort and I can sympathise with the winds, we've had up to 100km/hr winds here lately and it's just awful. Best to hunker down and tell us all about how horrible it is. Fills my heart watching Winston full of the joys of the day, they know how to enjoy life don't they? Look forward to the next adventure. Take care, Sue
I felt for you being down on your own can be frustrating but Winston helped you through 👍 Moved to Scotland ! That’s exciting news, good for you girl 👍 I used 25mm by 25mm self adhesive foam strip to stop the drafts on my door . From Amazon. Ps I’ve never seen that much butter on bread before 😂 . It’s an art form indeed, done with precision 😉.
Wahhhoooooo , its Wednesday again, time for that cuppa and get settled . Cant wait ! Thankyou Roz and hope you and winston are settling into your new home nicely 😊
Roz, Watching Winston running down a trail in front of you, with his toy in his mouth and his tail spinning, just make me happy. (Also, I felt the pain of that smashed finger across the Atlantic, across the USA, all the way to San Diego. It hurt.)
Hope your finger is ok , wanted to give you a hug. The weather is a pain , fingers crossed you get some good weather. Take care love from Caroline Butler ❤
Hi Roz when u went into Glasgow it's a city... Not a town it's a shame you're Sat nav took u there & in sorry to hear u got a ticket for it. At least u paid for it up front .. Loved you're video it's a shame u caught you're finger in the door of you're pod. & Winston is always wagging his tail he is always happy to get out & about. Keep up the great videos Roz & Winston ...👃
I think being on an island sends your brain a bit funny when the weather isn't great. I think it's the never ending grey skies. When I stopped on Tiree my brain was craving bright colours by the time I went home. It felt like fingers down a chalk board inside my brain. A bit of blue sky does wonders!
@Roz.S it's a pleasure. I love your content. You seem the type of person I could hang out with, but we wouldn't want to actually hang out because we both like dogs more than people.
Please come to the USA! We have beautiful mountains, deserts, canyons and lots of forests and swamps. I love your videos! It brings me peace…as I sit here waiting for a Hurricane to move in.
Another great video . From this video it seems like you moving to Scotland was a spur of the moment thing . Any way i wish you both good luck in your new home.
I totally sympathise. I am in Derbyshire now for a week in a campervan and it hasn’t stopped raining with strong winds. Can’t do half of what I planned on doing. Take care and keep up the videos,
Hiya Roz! Regarding the draught at your door and depending on the surface, you could do one of these things. You could use magnets(strong ones) to attach a towel,or a spring loaded curtain pole or suction cups with hooks attached. You had me laughing at your moaning because this is Britain and we have inclement weather! I have pictures of me on beach hols in UK with swimming costume and cardigan on(more years ago than I care to remember). I hope your finger is fully healed. As you've said better you than Winston but neither would have been preferable. Oh, I see you like rhubarb yogurt and custard doughnuts(snap).Thank you and Winston for the beach tour even when it was windy.Safe travels.See you on the next.
Thanks so much. My fingers is all good now and you wouldn't now anything happened to it 👍🏼 When it comes to yoghurts, doughnuts, chocolate, or treats of any kind, I have no preference 😂😂🙈 I'll eat them all!! Thanks so much for watching.
That's the thing about the West of Scotland, it's stormy on bad days and windy on good days. Dundee, on the east side, in fact has more sunshine hours than Swansea.
Solo camping can be a lonely activity especially in rubbish weather. My four weeks around Ireland I only had four dry days. The whole trip was about six weeks and sadly the trip up to Cainryan was wet and the trip back from Belfast was wet. . Western Scotland is no different. Like you with Winston I took joy in seeing the big fella Malcolm my dog enjoying himself. Like Winston my Malcolm is now 13 on his gabba but loves life. When things get miserable he makes me smile. I’m 62 now and believe there’s nothing wrong with having a moan. Take care. Love your vlogs.
I’ll trade you… I live in Memphis. In summer, it can be 36C day after day. Plus, it’s really humid. In spring? Tornadoes. And the last couple of winters, we have had some big snow and ice events. Memphians can’t handle snow. Wind and rain might be a nice change. Of course, the remnants of Hurricane Francine will pass over in the next 36 hours. Maybe wind and rain will be tiresome by then. Enjoy your move. I met a lot of folks from Scotland when I worked at Graceland. Some of those accents were hard to follow. But they were nice people.
Whinge all you like, we have had an awful summer. You know your dog so well. Just started following you. I eat both of those fish cakes at one go, I am slim . Lol
Roz I had a laugh at your comments as to which end of Winton you see the most of. I belong to a weekly walking group that is grouped according to speed. We have the Fast Footers ( walk and walk and walk) Steady Steppers (walk and walk and talk) Pleasure Pacers (walk and talk and talk) and my special really slow coach group Darrells Dawdlers. When we had the big group photos at our annual dinner I had them all face the wall for the photographer's camera so "I would recognize them all later"😅
The thing I believe is that you have to have the 'lows'....to make those 'highs'....feel sooo good. Glad you show all of how you feel & don't just give people what they want to hear....real is better....but I am sorry about your finger.... don't look right (either way round you show it😂) Keep it going Roz....you are brave &....adventurous....& awesome....you doing what some only dream of ❤
Moaney video Roz.😉😊 * Every day with a dog is a good day. * The door incident could have been worse. What if it had been something important that got trapped? Like Winston’s paw or tail. 😂 * Er... If your finger wasn’t wonky before it got trapped, and it is now. That’s concerning. * There’s a reason package holidays generally go to Southern Europe and not Northern Scotland. * I’m glad you felt better in the second part of the vlog❤️
The weather gets to us all 😢. It still looks beautiful though, it would lovely to be able to do the same as you have done. Thank you for sharing another great video 😊, Steve.
Just came across your channel. You are not alone. We were there for the month of June (working holiday). I think we had 1.5 days without horizontal wind and cold gales. To make matters worse we were delayed by 3 days due to gale force winds so ferry was cancelled. Locals said they can't remember the last time ferry was cancelled due to high winds in June. Not in living memory some of them said.
Moan, moan, moan ,Roz, but that was and still is,me at the terrible non summer we have had. Just think back on the stunning scenery you shared with happy, loving Winston on your Scottish adventure. Keep smiling Pet as you both make us .your viewers so,so happy. Thanks a lot.PS. Nasty finger accident but hopefully now (Sept) it has mended.👍❤
It’s early morning on Thursday 12th September and I’m watching your video in bed. Got a nice cuppa and…..a dog under the duvet. Love hearing you moaning about the weather because we are all British and love our weather..not. The scenery round the Hebrides is stunning and when you look back you will see what we see in comfort whilst we watch. Love the video as usual and little Winston is a joy. Keep your chin up Roz.
Great to hear that you have now moved to Scotland, your finger does look a bit wonky hope it has returned to normal or could be awkward when pointing directions and have people going the wrong way😂
