I LOVE that KEXP LOVES The Wedding Present! I've discovered some amazing bands on KEXP's RU-vid channel since I stumbled on it a few months ago, and now to find that my old faves The Weddos performed live for KEXP makes me very happy indeed.
I've loved The Wedding Present for ever. Growing old doesn't change anything. It's just old. Im as much in love now as when I was 17. So many concerts and never enough time.
I'm now thinking along the lines of... If The Weddos make an up to date greatest hits, clear your harddrives because every song they ever made and make has to go on it! Every one's a bloody winner!
This girl fucked the drummer to get in the band I believe, he was married, there was also another " girl" bass player before her who wouldn't fuck the drummer ,she got kicked out .
Saw them live in '89 supporting themselves with a Ukrainian set and (must have been) Len on vocals, Dave off to one side on guitar! (Before The Ukrainians became a separate band.) Wonderful!!
Saw them in Berlin in 'Maria im Ostbahnhof'. Thought it was one of the last gigs they made. I'm not a fan, but they are unique and energetic, and that is at least something.
Well I've seen them about 15 times over the years from George Best through to Cinerama so I can detect the differences in their songs, can't you, really?
Graycoll5 motorhead The quote “All the songs sound the same” was a lighthearted comment referring to an ep and merchandise that was once available from The Wedding Present (posters, Tshirts etc..which had the line “All the songs sound the same” printed on!) I, like yourself, have seen The Wedding Present many times, including a very personal gig at my local pub in Oundle at the time of “Hit Parade” and they still remain one of my most listened to groups! (And your right, the songs dont sound the same) My original comment was meant as a joke!
I've never understood all the hype around this band. It's quite flat and boring. I struggled to hook up with 'Georgr Best', and it just didn't anything for me.
