They dont skip falsetto, they skip hitting high notes with their natural voice cause it's straining for the voice. Falsetto isn't really their natural voice so it's less harsh on the voice. And a lot of singers dont even sing in falsetto.
This is such a cringe comment, he said back in kiss land days he wasn’t religious and in Heaven or Las Vegas he said “I’ve never prayed a day in my life” 🤣
his music ain't dark, understand wat he's singing bout and ull think different and ull actually like him more I fucking hate when idiot people say that !
justinyayo16 How is it not dark? His new stuff not as much, sure, but Trilogy was literally the ruminations of a partying, drugged-out narcissist and all the nihilism, alienation, and self-loathing that comes with that. I'd call that pretty dark.
Yes he is great but let me honest Abel is setting the tone he don't even need a fucking guitar and he could set a tone but yes the guy playing is good but Abel is legend
@@jaywest9478 lol don’t undermine Patrick like that, he been with him through every tour always bringing his music to life hence why abel thanks him and his drummer letting them jam out
@@limyize he's the only artist that I actually wish I was him . Like literally in his body .I'd love to see life from his perspective ... Jesus his life must be so beautiful
I do too I'd listen to this so many times cuz the vocal mastery abel commands. Then one day I searched the song in here and watched the video for the first time ever love the visuals and dark Japanese poetry awesome video but for me BTTW will always be this version. If you like acoustic check out Tigerpause his rendition of wicked games is calming and heartbreaking at the same time no vocals the vocals he plays on guitar
For me, The Weeknd is the artist of a lifetime. Without a doubt, my favorite singer ever. He has something for me no matter what mood I'm in. When I'm down, I put Abel on and I listen to his lyrics and they hit deep. His music has an impact on everyone, but especially those who really listen to what he's saying, and can identify with it. When you go through shit, and life gets fucked up, his music is there for you. Like a friend who's never going anywhere, and who you can count on to console you, give you advice, or pick you back up. I know he's just a guy and his music is played by billions, but when you listen to him enough, so much that you know all the words to all his songs, so much that you can feel his emotions through his music, it hits different,
Agreed brother! At his early stage I was literally ONLY listening to The Weeknd. I was like how can I listen to anything else when this amazing artist exist!
+Pooch Luelz not everybody is natural stage prefromence like MJ, Beyonce and RiRi, his shy and he will improve but you got to admit his pure talent and genius at what he does including his band #team
+Wes “Hot Dog” Steingraber II I'm sure if you sing an entire album along with some classics that his voice would not be top notch all the way through no?
Technically impossible due to the link between views and ip addresses, unless she restarts the router every single time and even that wouldn't do. I'm impressed your mom is into the weeknd, I wish I have that privilege.
No matter how long I've been a fan I always come back here to reminisce. I first heard the Weeknd on an old friend's snapchat story in 2013. I was so captured by his airy falsetto and harsh brassy notes, he has a very distinctive style. Almost a decade later I remain enthralled by him and his evolution and how he decides to "reinvent" himself by giving us different eras/chapters while still remaining true to himself. I'm so proud of how far he's come, and everything he's been able to accomplish. He's so devoted to his art and making sure he's consistently creating and releasing quality material. I guess what I'm trying to say is, "If it ain't XO then it gotta go". Thank you for all of your hard work Abel! Sending so much love! xo
D Lo Some people don't see the sadness, not just in the lyrics but in the effects that Abel puts on his voice. They're so cold and static, yet it's beautiful too. It's like you can see a different side of every song, and I have to say that I know it's no accident. His voice is so concrete; it really grounds the songs and solidifies the lyrics at the same time. See, I said that as a response to all of the fans who say that Kiss Land isn't sad because the beats aren't as depressing. I find Kiss Land even more depressing just based on the fact that instead of spending so much time making edgy beats that sound sad, he spent time crafting the perfect effects to place on his voice, so you feel the man in the lyrics being sad, and not the occasion or the song itself.
I’ve been hooked to this nigga since 2010 when House of Balloons mixtape dropped. I knew INSTANTLY he was a legend in the making. His shit was always super different but addicting. He opens the book on those demons that you have to close to survive. He has kept me ALIVE. No doubt. 2020 I’m still here!! XOTIOD!! ✊🏾✊🏾✊🏾✊🏾
Fully agree and if you go through my RU-vid and phone I’ve had his music since 2010 as well! Love that mate! Gutted his new stuff ain’t like this no more. But in rolling stone he admits he will be different and hopes we still listen!
@@nicholasingall5413 so many artists such as: Ed sheeran, The Weeknd, mk and drake had better and their own style Of music then when they made it had to change to suit radio and mainstream to a bigger audience…
the thing I love about The Weeknd is that he is naturally talented and he puts his emotion in every song. Dropping out of high school was the best thing he ever did. I've been a fan since he was mysterious artist releasing music online and hoping someone would hear it and I did and im thankful that I found him. im thankful I could have his as a secret of mine before he became famous :)
👏👏👏👏 Amen! I discovered him about 3 weeks ago & bought to myself his topical album which pulled me totally in his spell. "Kissland" followed & hope to hold soon "Trilogy" in my hands. He's very gifted, like both albums very much.
+Kenneth Antonio don't forget that drakes album "Take care" was a success because of Abel. If he hadn't wrote half the songs then drakes album wouldn't have been as big and Abel's "The Trilogy" would've been longer and possibly better... If that's possible.
he's trying hard as fuck to be mainstream. look at who he collaborates with, the projects he's involved with. listen to an interview wherein he talks about his mainstream ambitions. you're just wrong
Gosh he just looks like a little sweet heart. Great fucking song. He's very theatrical, i love how his songs tell a story, i love that he gets so passionate
I felt his pain as a 14 year old. I got to experience the same pain 8 years later, and to go back through Trilogy, Echoes of Silence, etc is so riveting. Passion, pain, and ultimately....love. The greatest voice to ever stand behind a microphone.
I am so late to the Weeknd party, but when I heard him on the radio in Los Angeles earlier this year I was hooked. Listened to him endless loops on youtube I think I am all caught up😍😍😍his voice is so beautiful, and his evolution is wow....
Supa Strikas it's so underrated by fans and charts too. Everyone's talking about trilogy bbtm and starboy but nobody's talking about this amazing album
He does "auto tune" or puts effects on his voice as a creative tool only! Voice box etc. but obviously doesn't need to to sing! It's a creativity thing not a fake thing. Beautiful voice!
I Remember when I was back in 7th grade 9 years ago. Heard my first song from him “wicked games” backed in 2011. Till now his my favorite artist, TRILOGY always hits in a different level. XOTWOD!
Dare I say it .. Yeah, I do. I am a major fan of Michael Jackson. I mean, a major fan. While I usually don't compare artists. No one since Michael Jackson has quite managed to strike my attention like ''The Weeknd'' has as of late. I have listened to music since the day I was born, listened to everything between oldies like ''Phil Collins'' and modern stuff like Rayven Justice - from James Morrison to Joey Bada$$. You get the point. Though there is just something special about ''The Weeknd''. I dont like comparing artists as I mentioned, though if there are anyone as close to Michael Jackson. It would be The Weeknd. Without a doubt. The substance, passion, voice, lyrics etc.. are just too perfect. Respect.
Lyric wise I'm going with the weeknd not saying he is better just when I look at the two artist they are like the same human being with distinct personalties. The weeknd lyrics are very dark and at many time something the average person can't relate too, he speaks his own story and forces us to unmask who the being we are listening to really is (ex high for this was about rape) Micheal Jackson is opposite being very relatable while having a little dark childhood other than that he is the light that everyone sees his music touches hearts and shows you the goodness in the world while the weeknd seems to be the darkness.... Mayb I'm the only one that thinks this but I agree they are comparable in the sense that they seem to be the same artist in a way just made to touch music in a different way
Right you are right Don't be afraid to say it. The Weeknd is more of a Darker R&B artists and he IS on MJ Level singing wise he isn't here for no reason. Also Fan base wise. This dude Singing BEAUTIFUL Pain, Darkness. Shit makes you feel depressed but good at the same time. He's like a Drug.
Trust me Vocalist The Weeknd wasn't even trying in the video. MJ and The Weeknds Voice are almost the Same MJ just olds school and but both of Them can Hit Note equally with High pitched tunes Trust me Just because MJ was in the Game before the Weeknd don't discredit him. It's like what they say out with the old on with the new
BBoyam902 .. My last statement remains. The Weeknd is truly a talented artist, though he is no place near being on Michael Jackson's level. ... I never discredited him by stating that Michael were on a level beyond music, period - because truthfully nobody is close to Michael due to him being the King of Pop, or music in my opinion .. Nonetheless. We all have different opinions. .. Though I doubt that The Weeknd himself agress with yours.
+Shadi Shans the goosebumps! if you dont get them its NOT good music! The first time I ever heard anything from him was Wicked Games and My body got chills and goosebumps and every song since
lol it's so strange to hear people only knowing about him from songs like "Often" or "Earned It". been listening to the weeknd since the early days when all you knew about him was he was an amazing and unique singer/songwriter, and if you googled him you would only see pictures of girls and balloons XD proud of this guy for blowin up the way he did
I agree! I remember telling people about The Weeknd back in like 2010 and them not knowing who he was. Look where he's gotten now, so proud! xo till we overdose
This is one of the greatest and best, if not the greatest and best vocal/musical performance/s and songs ever in history and that will ever exist, as are all vocal performances and songs by The Weeknd the greatest and best vocal performances in history and that will ever exist, greatest and best than any other singer/vocalists/artists ever in history and that will ever exist, only vocal/musical performances and songs that could be greater than this in history and that will ever exist, are and will be by The Weeknd himself because he is the greatest and best vocalist, singer, musician and artist ever of all time in history and that will ever exist.
Lyrics (I changed them because slightly different from the studio versions of the songs): [Part 1: Belong To The World] [Verse 1] I know you want your money 'Cause you do this every day The way you doubt your feelings And look the other way Well, it's something I relate to Your gift of nonchalance But nobody's ever made me fall in love With this amount of touch, well [Pre-Chorus] I'm not a fool I just love that you're dead inside I'm not a fool, babe I'm just lifeless too But you taught me how to feel When nobody ever would And you taught me how to love When nobody ever could [Chorus] Ooh girl, I know I should leave you And learn to mistreat you 'Cause you belong to the world (oh yeah) And ooh girl, I wanna embrace you Domesticate you But you belong to the world You belong to the world [Verse 2] And I know that I'm saying too much Even though I'd rather hold my tongue, yeah And I'll pull you closer holding on to Every moment 'til my time is done, babe And this ain't right, you've been the only one to make me smile In so long, I've succumbed to what I've become, hey [Pre-Chorus] I'm not a fool, baby I just love that you're dead inside I'm not a fool, girl I'm just lifeless too But you taught me how to feel When nobody ever would And you taught me how to love When nobody ever could, ohh [Chorus] Well ooh girl, I know I should leave you And learn to mistreat you, girl 'Cause you belong to the world (Ooh yeah) And ooh girl, I wanna embrace you Domesticate you But you belong to the world You belong to the world [Part 2: The Town] [Intro: The Weeknd & (Patrick Greenaway)] Is that The Town, right? (Yea) Oo-oo-ooh Oh, oh [Hook] You did many things That I liked, that I liked And you like diamond rings I can provide, I can provide for you You made me feel so good Before I left On the road And you deserve your name On a crown, on a throne [Verse 1] I haven't been around my town in a long while I apologize, but I I've been trying to get this money like I got a couple kids who rely On me But I remember on the bathroom floor 'Fore I went on tour Like you said we couldn't do it again Cause you had a thing with some other man You said it was love And you said you were lost Then you wished me good luck To find somebody to love Oh, baby, oh-h But, oooh Now I've heard that you're single And uh huh, I'll give you something to live for, oh Yes, I will, oh Yes, I will, oh-h-h Yes, I will [Verse 2] (Honey, honey, honey, honey, honey, honey, honey, honey) Honey, please You never thought you'd ever see my face again But your love just swayed the lies When he stared into your eyes He just might be too good for you, oh You're almost dead to him You're sleeping with a frozen heart Well baby girl it's over now And you can always count on me, oh-h Your unshackled boy, unrestrained to touch So immune to love And it feels so priceless to me, oh That you're always free That you'll take me in Now I'm everything, your everything Ooh, oh Ooh, ooh, ooh, oh Oh, oh, oh, oh I know you'll take me in
The Weeknd is the greatest and best vocalist, singer, musician and artist of all time ever in history and that will ever exist, and he has the greatest and best vocals, singing and voice ever of all time in history and that will ever exist.
I can listen to this over and over it makes me feel sad cause of the emotion in his voice its so beautiful his voice is amazing and his lyrics are so good ..
