En "Gasoline", The Weeknd describe su relación parasitaria con su amante actual. Usándola como muletas para sus erráticos problemas con las drogas, Abel le ruega a su amante que no lo deje ir, ya que es lo único que tiene en ese momento.
A lo largo de los versos, Abel expresa su visión de la vida sin sentido y vacía sin sus vicios, llegando incluso a llamarse nihilista. Por eso le pide a su amante que lo empape en gasolina cuando muera, usando la gasolina como simbolismo de algo más. La gasolina es un líquido extremadamente inflamable, aunque primero hay que tomar la iniciativa para encenderla. Esto puede ser lo que Abel está describiendo; pidiendo que sus lazos con su vida pasada se quemen con él para poder comenzar de nuevo de alguna manera. Aunque no sabe lo que le depara el futuro, está dispuesto a sacrificar su estilo de vida actual para correr ese riesgo, incluso si eso significa quemar espiritualmente su pasado.
