It’s crazy that so many don’t like this song because it’s a little main stream so what if your a true Weeknd fan you will notice it’s still him with the words he say In the song
It's not only that. The other big thing is that this song sounds so out-of-place in every way. Like the thumbnail suggests, the beat expresses happiness and euphoria, but his lyrics suggest something much darker, more sad. Explain to me how we're supposed to be immersed in the meaning of the lyrics when the music is giving the opposite message? It's like trying to host a funeral at a Sweet 16, or, vice versa, like hosting a Sweet 16 at a cemetary. Shit just doesn't work. The vibe is WAY off. In this song, non-existent entirely.
@@esaua.7455 The way I interpreted the track, I felt like he was talking to this girl he was once with who made him happy. I guess he didn't realize what he had until someone else broke his heart, hence the "Yeah, I broke your heart like someone did to mine. And now you won't love me for a second time." So the entire song he's kind of just noticing how much happier the girl is without him. "You look so happy when I'm not with you." But she's still affected by him, "a single teardrop falling from your eye." I feel like the song is more upbeat because usually happy songs are upbeat. Maybe he's trying to convince her and himself that they're better off alone (expresses this through music). "I realize that I'm much too late. And you deserve someone better." Even though they both still care about each other (expresses this through lyrics).
I think a lot of people didn’t like this song as much and called it “the only miss of the album” was because it is to MAINSTREAM. Like so what if anyone can listen to this song on the radio and jam out, if anyone besides Abel released it then it would be an instant hit
Joshua G its a good ass song lol people just wanna be “different” but whatever if they wanna miss out on listening to a good ass song then its their loss
Tbh this is definitely one of my favs, and it kills me that so many people hate on it saying its too poppy and too much like starboy.... like do you not hear these lyrics or realize how hard it is to make these lyrics work with this type of instrumental?!
If you haven't listened to it yet... try "dance with the devil" by Immortal Technique. Even if you were to listen to it on your own. it's an amazing story driven song.
This album has completely captivated me - been running to it on repeat. It’s haunting but I can’t get away from it. And your breakdowns have been the perfect extra element to nerd out on.
Love this songgg, I can relate so hard.. the only reason I got with my ex was to try and distract me from who I really liked. I didn't know I was doing that at the time. It was subconscious, but yeah obviously the relationship didn't work, and now that im more mature I've realised how wrong I was to do that to her, but its too late for me to take her back, she's happy with my best friend lol. No closure for me, so yeah I relate with this song HARD
This song is such a banger... And I'm glad it was this man who released this song. Nobody can claim that ever now. 👌 Years from now this song will still be amazing to listen to. And it's a classy feel not a ghetto it's something a grandma could jam to aswell lol. The Weeknd has talent.
Idk why but the music so reminds me of "I just called to say I love you", Stevie Wonder. Such trickery!! Cuz I'm all upbeat and boppin but it's all truly heartbreaking what he's saying. Ahhh now I get it. Like a magic trick but really a tragic trick. Pssh, my life too friend. Yo
IF YOU THINK THIS IS GROWTH YOU BETTER HURRY FOR UNTIL I BLEED OUT shit got me, all the way back from coming down and the fall from trilogy and love in the sky from kissland *IM HYPED FOR THAT VIDEO*
This song describes exactly what my significant other and I went through over 10 years ago....... he’s still around but things will never be how they were 😔
So does he really whisper Selena @ the 2:02 in the song in the album but not this video and as for the music video it's rite b4 he walks up to the girl?? Or does he whisper something else!! 🤔
Good channel man. Good work, the homework that goes into breaking these songs and lyrics and meanings are phenomenal. Subbed on. 👍 looking forward to fallow your work. Cheers.
Can you pretty please check out some Jon Bellion. I feel like you would vibe with him so much!!! ❤❤🖤🖤❤❤🤞🤞 pretty pretty please. I dont care which one. Just maybe start checking out different ones. You would also have to check out the making of his songs. It's amazing to watch ♡ I wanna see you react to it all. ♡♡
Nice song, great reaction. I am a little freaked out by the people who comment on this site (and others) about how this song relates to Abel's personal life and trying to guess who the people might be that he's singing about, if, in fact, he is even singing about specific people all the time. It's a little creepy, people insisting it's this famous pop star or that famous (?) model and even arguing about it - I have noticed that some people seem to go from reactor to reactor's channels putting in the exact same note about who they think he is talking about or which devil or agent of the spawn of Satan he is referring to - makes me feel like a voyeur that I really don't want to be. Is this due to the quarantine and people being bored, or are people like this all the time? I only started watching RU-vid reactions about 4 months ago, so I don't know what "normal" is. You don't do this, Ernest, it's just some of the people who comment. I guess I'm just the odd one out - sorry, everyone. Carry on as usual.
Thats why i fuck with this album so much. Because on the first listen you just vibe to it because the vocals and the production is on another level, then when you go back and listen closely to the lyrics its like a whole other experience. And to top it off we have that production thats similar to kiss land, with actual relatable lyrics! Cause lets be real, most of us cant comepare our lives to most of the weeknds old shit! He even says it himself😂😂😂
Weirdest vibe, but I’ve been listening to this song for a minute.. but I just checked out the Locations Session version of The Hype by Twenty One Pilots.. so similar in terms of rhythm, just that chill track feel is definitely there with both of these.
