The Weekend is right. The show is a lesson for younger artists... a lesson in not making pure, unadulterated garbage.

So sick of women's experiences being told and depicted through male lenses. It's unrealistic, harmful and sometimes even creepy.

Even his voice when he’s not singing is literally beautiful

So why not write a show about the experiences of a young male pop stars experiences? Justin Bieber, Justin Timberlake, Usher, Drake, Harry Styles are all male pop stars the Weeknd and Sam Levinson could have drawn on....along with their own experiences. This was an exhibition in gratification masked as art.

“inspired by my experiences” but when asked later in the interview if he had ever met anyone in the industry that reminded him of Tedros he laughed and said ‘thankfully not’ MAYBE BC HE RLY IS TEDROS. like the weird way this show is life imitating art bc also ‘i get to do what i love and work w the ppl i love’ and Lily and Sam calling each other family in the interview ….. is now all just too eerily similar to the dinnertable scene for me. sadly it may take years for Lily to see what actually happened to her, i think she is just saying what she knows she is supposed to say. i hope everyone involved can recover and move on from this nightmare of a project.

this show was never supposed to be about the weeknd yet he still managed to make it about himself. men taking the spotlight from women and telling our stories instead of us, like always.

As a huge fan of The Weeknd, this is rough… I’m really hoping there’s going to be some big twist at the end that will redeem the story and make us all go “oh so that’s why it felt so disturbing at the beginning” but I’m highly doubtful.

The Weeknd doesn’t enjoy Hollywood or his fame, his body language & shaking his head no while agreeing to something he’s saying told me everything I needed to know

I love that he figuring out the meaning afterwards for himself. Its constantly evolving and finding new meanings of our art. While knowing the message ahead of time can be beneficial to production. It can also spoil the mystery unfolding for ourselves.

I never found him attractive per-say but him acting has made him look unattractive in my opinion. I’m surprised that most of the interviews do not talk about how the character was grieving throughout the show. They also did not mention anything about the brush and what it meant in the end when he said that the brush looked brand new. The interviewers seem to only focus on the fact that she was a popstar and that’s about it.
