I remember when he was unknown. Like nobody knew what he looked like. I remember when his music was for the underground. Dark. Emotional. Drugs. Euphoria. 10 years later I wouldn’t have guessed this for him but I’m glad he’s successfully a star.
It’s a different vibe, some people like this better the old Weeknd or his other stuff newer stuff. That’s what makes him great so many different styles and people can pick what they like most and it’s all good timeless music. I do think he lost his voice a bit over the years tho. This trilogy was the best in my opinion but I can see why his other music sells or why people like it better. He has a great collection of great music. I think his life has changed to much to go back to this style of music. Trilogy was music he was going thru that part of his life and it’s the best to me
This song is literally about to be 9 years old.. it’s scary and nostalgic on how fast time is moving. The old xoxxxooxo channel. Came here especially for the Aaliyah sample. It’s still XO til we overdose.
I’ve always liked The Weeknd. I also like his new sounds with music .. but something about his OLD MUSIC that I can’t let go. Those 3 mixtapes will always be favorites.
@@MyrieWoo Be happy that he's grown out of this dark place. Sure, the music is good-but I would prefer a healthy Weeknd with a different style than a depressed Weeknd with this old style
What a masterpiece. Weeknd is so dope. I can't stop watching this track again and again. I am sure he will be #1 soon due to 💖 a u t h e n t I c v i e w s 💖
starboy fans ain’t ever gonna find us here 🤷♀️ edit: no offense to the new listeners at all :) i encourage u guys to explore the depth of abels music. hope yall enjoy your journey of listening to all of abel’s songs!❤️
I remember my 18th or 17th birthday and I enjoyed it with a special female at the time .. we smoked , held each other in the night . She had a fire playlist at the time ! Every time I seen her she played songs I’ve never heard .. But that night she played this and I thought it was a girl singing then she said “honestly nobody knows” I became an instant fan to his sound at the time ! Wish I can thank her for introducing me to The Weeknd
Absolutely insane being here 11 years later and listening to the same song one of my old friends presented. It was this exact video too lol. its so nostalgic, I remember the exact day I listened to this song and thinking to myself that The Weeknd had a different vibe. Im proud to say im an original XO fan
SAME MY IGNORANT COUSINS THOUGHT I LISTENED TO WEIRD MUSIC CUZ IT WASN'T MAINSTREAM AND THEY MADE FUN OF ME FOR EXAMPLE I LISTENED TO THIS AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THEY'RE HUGE ABEL FANS LMAO!!
Sometimes you click on a video from an unknown channel, the channel only has 1 video and you hear that song, without knowing it you may be seeing the emergence of a huge global star in front of your eyes. That's what happened to some people when they clicked on this video years ago. Without knowing it, they saw the birth of this spectacular artist that is The Weekend, that's beautiful.
I had a bootleg copy of If Your Reading This It's Too Late and this song was added at the very end of the CD been hooked ever since. House of Balloons was introduced to me.
The Weeknd is my favourite singer, I know him since he collaborated with Ariana Grande in the duet "Love me harder" in 2014. Listening his first song ever make me feel like "OMG, this is how he started". Then, time passed and now, 11 years later, he's one of the best singers in the world.
I'm so happy to be alive in the timeline The Weeknd is here , present, active and progressing. I don't know where my life would be like without knowing he exists, if he didn't exist. I found the love of my life because of him and now we have two beautiful kids because of him. (this is baby making music, y'all) X'O 4Ever.
This was the dumbest statement I've ever read. If he didn't enjoy making music like this then why did he release 3 mixtapes and an album "like this". If he wanted to skyrocket to success he could've just sang more pop music since that would've boosted his career faster. He enjoys making music like this but the market for it is too small. And he loves money like anybody else. Nothing wrong with missing his old sound numbnuts.
Andrew ClarkWilt He enjoy making the music but hated being depressed . His only way to get rid of some pain is by singing. If you were a real fan , you would of knew that.
I know most of the audience are high or maybe it's just me,but trilogy hits different when ur high the best feeling ever, worth it 💯❤️..I love it like how his songs are filled with darkness, mysterious & toxicly emotional✨💫 My favourite album: •trilogy •Beauty behind the madness •kiss land •
Won't mention his lyrics lmao after hours isn't that bad, nor my dear melancholy that's what I'll be telling my kids is the best thing to ever happen (though music is objective)
that song makes me feel a romantic tension, mercy, peace, pure and hard love. what a song.. that song gives me everything i want.I literally dedicate myself to this song *- *
There's two types of people: 1) You are either high and listen to this song 2) Or you have never been high before, and don't plan to be high, but you get high listening to this song
Am I the only one that misses this vibe ? It kinda bums me out he doesn’t perform these songs live. Obviously he’s an incredible success which is amazing
I just want to take you there He don't gotta know where Does he touch you here like this, this, this, this? Let me take the friction from your lips (Ooh, woah) And I'ma love you girl The way you need Ain't no one gon' stop us Ain't no one gon' stop us And I'm gon' give you girl What you fiend I'm the drug in your veins Just fight through the pain He's what you want, he's what you want He's what you want, he's what you want I'm what you need, what you need, what you need I'm what you need, what you need, what you need He's what you want, he's what you want He's what you want, he's what you want I'm what you need, what you need, what you need I'm what you need, what you need, what you need I got everything you want with me I do everything he does times three And he don't gotta know I got you on the floor Doin' things you never thought you'd do Baby, leave them high heel shoes 'Cause I love it when you're looking down at me I'm looking up at you And I don't give a damn shorty Watch me knock your boots off And I'ma love you girl The way you need Ain't no one gon' stop us Ain't no one gon' stop us And I'm gon' give you girl What you fiend I'm the drug in your veins Just fight through the pain He's what you want, he's what you want He's what you want, he's what you want I'm what you need, what you need, what you need I'm what you need, what you need, what you need He's what you want, he's what you want He's what you want, he's what you want I'm what you need, what you need, what you need I'm what you need, what you need, what you need Woah Woah, woah, woah Woah-oh-oh, oh-woah, ah-ah
This guy helps me get through recovery making things feel normal going through toxic relationships and explains that drugs numbed everything and now I'm just recovering and feel blessed to have his music to reminisce. I've been a fan of Abel from the beginning. I remember when no one knew what he looked like and no one expected him to become the greatest RnB singer of this generation. I knew gold when I saw it. Congrats on your success Abel. I'm also an aspiring artist and wish I had a single with you. Not for the money not for the clout, but for the raw talent and emotion that you give on every single track. My dying wish is to meet you and make a song with you. Even if it goes unnoticed Or unpublished.
@@lilhandtminterestingly the point of resonating is being able to see through someone else's eyes and heart which is what being a musician is about . Reaching out to connect and share . Thus there is no his and his alone because we are part of the same expression of consciousness which despite our perceived individual reality and experience . There is no alone . Technically speaking 😂
@@rawr419 its still the same thing in my opinion. They just added a lil more base on the remastered and it has that high quality for the headphones and whatnot for music streaming services so it sounds more crisp. I like both really. They're still the same songs.
Who else plans on just listening to just one song of his and call it a night, then hours later realize you ended up listening to every song of his? I seriously can't just listen to one song.
+Brittany Henry that's EXACTLY how I was when house of balloons came out. I started at listening to "The Morning" and Abel became my obsession ever since.
I remember the first time I heard this song was 2011. I was drunk as hell and high as hell at a party at my ex boyfriend's and as the party was ending my best friend put this on. I was jumping on the green little strobe lights as they stood still on that floor like damn fairy playing hop scotch and twirling around the damn room lit as tf in the pitch black room filled with green dots. Next thing you know she played coming down. I officially had to know who the hell he was and where did he come from. Those two songs made me appreciate this mane all the way to 2015 and I still come back to it and it never gets old. And you can imagine the difference between then when I was high as hell and me not smoking anymore now. It's still the same kind of amazing. This old long ass story nobody's about to read. 😂 lmboooo

Adrian Thraws I so agree with yo. Miss her, she was such a sweetheart. A warm soul, unlike the cold overrated shit celebrities sing about d*ck, drugs, ass*es, and s*x. F them.
Man, as a huge Weeknd fan, I sort of find all the “xo fan base” kind of discouraging... I mean yeah I listen to his old music but that really doesn’t make me that much more of a fan than the people who like BBTM and Starboy. Heck I think after hours is his best album with his best songs. The point is, don’t ridicule people because they have different taste than you. It they like star boy and don’t like trilogy don’t shove it in their face and say “your not a real weeknd fan.” Thanks, XOTWOD
Benjamin Ramsey his older stuff just sounds way better and way more raw.. his pop music is cool and all but i just enjoy his older stuff. it doesnt really sound forced and most of it is really relatable.. another reason why i like it. after hours had sum good tracks but hopefully it grows on me
You supposed to sit up against the headboard and let yo girl lay back against yo chest and yall just vibe out to this. Have a couple candles lit and let all 5 senses take over
Taylor uploaded Tesfaye’s first three songs - ‘‘The Morning,’’ ‘‘What You Need’’ and ‘‘Loft Music’’ - to RU-vid in the fall of 2010, posting the links to their friends’ Facebook walls and hoping for the best. The clips were audio only, accompanied by black-and-white photographs of not-quite-dressed women. Tesfaye’s likeness was nowhere to be found; you had to dig to find his name. He had wanted to call himself the Weekend, but there was already a rock band in Ontario called that, so he dropped a letter. His anonymity was so complete, he says, that his co-workers at American Apparel would listen to his music while he was working without realizing it was his.
+Daedra Queen They were, but Loft Music didn't have the insane instrumental in the end, What You Need was a lot rougher as a song as well as The Morning, which also had a distorted pitch and is presented more so in rap form than the original. If you're thinking his The Noise shit, that stuff was leaked after House of Balloons and Abel himself hates it (emphasis on the use of leak rather than release - he never wanted The Noise tracks to come out).
