This is also reduced somewhat for flow, I could have made an easy 20 minute video with all the info about M50's in lore. The sheer volume of lore for this game is staggering.
I've been so interested in seeing a version of the M50 that is purpose built for combat - make larger wings, beef up the fusalage and turn it into a dedicated fighter

This is in fact the best snub you can get atm if your wanting fast A-B travel with a bite to keep away the wolves. Bare in mind this thing has less storage then a 5 1/4" floppy.
I love having my c2(because I dont have the m2) with these in my bay. Pull up open hangers and send my minions out to ambush. Feels awesome. Like a carrier.
It's because of this video that I gave the M50 a second thought, and I'm starting to fall in love with it lol. Unrelated: I know a bit of Latin but only took two semesters of it. Am I right in thinking that you said "Ex historia ad astra."? as in "From history to the stars."? Or did I mishear that?
It's my favorite ship that I rarely fly. :) I absolutely love this little racing plane to death, except it performs SO BADLY these days in atmosphere. I just wish it were fun to fly there. So most of the time it just sits in the hangar. But if it could once again regain the flight performance that it looks like it should have, I'd probably be using this thing all the time.
Racing is one of my favorit things in space sci fi's so I'm really excited for the racing update, and hopefully one day we get the ability too modify our racers, I want too see a mustang torn apart and rebuilt as a racer And I know it has a racing variant but it kinda blows I wanna see if strapped with different thrusters, weight reduced, etc I want street cars Granted I don't actually expect these features but (spoilers?) seeing that aurora strapped with gatlines in that one leaked video got my hopes up
Before last wipe I got an m50 cuz it looked cool and it can be spawned at any pad. It's controls are too damn janky though. Which isn't bad, it's supposed to be high performance. But now I tend toward buying an i100 variant.
@@TheAstroHistorian maybe with the addition of racing as a gameplay loop (along with some upcoming sub flair) we might see some more racing concepts! The modified Hornet has me intrigued as well!
Unfortunately, all test pilots have died owing to the chronic inability for RSI to solve the challenge of building a ship with a cockpit view unobstructed by construction scaffolding. This has left any speed focused design sadly vulnerable to smashing into things.
