Clark Ashton Smith! a very nice tale from 1932. "Weird Tales" was a tresury vault for this kind of stories! Thank you Ian. Your voice made the story even better than a simple reading.
Yet another one of my favorites! I'm so glad you're on a C.A.S. kick. The combination of the man's deliciously sardonic sense of humor paired with your exquisite narrative aptitude is just... *chef's kiss*.
This week on Clark Ashton Smith’s ‘Seven Deadly Sins’, we explore greed in ‘The Weird of Avoosl Wuthoqquan’. Next week, join us as Ralibar Vooz delves deeper into his pride, as well as the ancient, god-ridden innards of Mount Voormithadreth in ‘The Seven Geases’.
“And now for the first time my memory records verbal discourse, Warren addressing me at length in his mellow tenor voice; ‘Keep up the good work and, as always, stay safe!’ “
Thank you, Ian. I asked for this a while ago and was so excited when you said soon. Well soon is now today! Awesome. I like to think of the 2 emeralds like the lure of an angler fish. Perfect trap for plump usurers!!
Love c,a, Smith and your great voices are very important to the on point reading of these classic out of this world(in this world) stories,I suffer from ADHD and addiction problems, and your station has been such a great tonic,to my often dark and painful restlessness and lack of sleep, loved the seeling of Mars, thanks for your time, now off to dream of Wizards,, desolate planet's with strange odour, and rituals that man is unable to contemplate, thank you for my new dreamscape, and healing of my addiction, keep up the weird tales.
I can't help but think that there must be quite a lot of preparation before one attempts to tackle a story by CAS. As it has been said, one does not simply stumble into such a thing blindly. But rather, with deliberate and careful effort, does the sage coax the eldritch wisdom out from its burrow of bound pages. You do such a phenomenal job with Smith's vocabularic gymnastics. It's amazing.
Just listening to this on my new Klipsch speaker setup. Your voice is sounding better than ever Ian! The way you annunciate CAS' words is simply splendid.
Oooooh, what a fine tale. It is a good tale of the repercussions of extreme "avarice" and "usury". This is a lovely tale! CAS is amazing. I love how these old writers sling awesome words around we do not see used these days! Fantastic narration. Thanks!!
@randallbesch2424 I like the way those older words sound. The looks we get when using them now crack me up.... CAS was truly an author at another level. I thoroughly enjoy every work of his I have read
Great timing! I just finished talking about the creatures from this story on my channel and a fan linked me to this upload! Thanks for spreading the word on CAS work!
The beginning part with all the sudden introductions of people and places was a bit too fast to digest in one go, but after that initial set-up of the story your narration had the perfect cadence and speed. I loved the story and your telling of it even more! Please keep them coming!
I can listen to Smiths stories over and over again. Quite the clever writer.. Not that I'm the cleverest of readers....listener..whatever. Man that guy had a talent for writing. It's such a shame that he seems to have lost the spark for it after Lovecraft died. I know it never left him but I suppose the loss of a great supporter/compatriot mustve queered the whole business for him. I imagine that's how I would feel about some of the hobbies my younger brother and I share. It's just never the same when your band gets broken up.
My favorite C.A.S. story I've read so far had to do with a recurring group of spacefarers on board a rocket ship which got brought down to a planet which seemed to be populated by machines.
H P really Liked CAS also name dropping him in a couple stories at least inculding Pickmans Model one of my favs.My All time CAS is The Vaults of Yoh Vombis.Though this one "rocks" as well!
Clark Ashton Smith was one hell of a sadistic Dungeon Master, but I can't say that his players don't deserve it. Listening to this just to learn how to pronounce "Avoosi Wuthoqquan" - I presume you have consulted with scholars of the ancient Hyperborean on this?
Warren is alive and a guest at an Indian restaurant in the southern slopes of the Himalayas. Currently he’s pretending to be vegan, as he suspects a Rakshasa is the chef.
I think this boss fight is bugged. Harley Warren is in my party but when i step through the fog gate I hear "You fool. Warren is dead!" and the fight won't trigger. No, I can see him on the screen and who is saying that? Did i soft lock my game somehow? I have all the pages, both keys, the ebony finger, onyx pyramid and the moonlight great sword. What did I do wrong? Is there no way to save him?
@@randallbesch2424 IDK what is up. I walk into the fog gate, "you..............dead", some narrator launches into like 25:30 of exposition and the fight never triggers. I mean, cool lore dump and all but this was the eldenflame demonsoul ring that I needed to fight Gascoigne and beat the game. What world state is the Moon Presence supposed to be in?
It always astounds me how anyone manages to pronounce things with CAS. Well done! Ps when I try to read his stuff out loud it’s awful and I end up changing the words to real words or start to try to say it but always end it in “whatever”.
please consider not using ai art, it's so destructive to other artists and will just get worse. thumbnails for audio narrative channels have little impact on whether i click, just needs a good title and story blurb.
Thank you all for the heartfelt words of support! It is truly touching and means alot! All i can say is work hard and remain diligent and dedicated. Perhaps one day, with a little luck, you also could the first….To say, First…..
