00:00 Import Photoshop into Resolve 00:33 Photoshop Layers to Fusion 01:53 Break Photoshop Layers into DaVinci Resolve Clips 02:55 Update Photoshop Changes in Resolve
@CarcPazu

I like the little reload voodoo trick at the end. I usually just save, quit resolve and relaunch. I have a Photoshop situation that drives me crazy and I can't find a solution. When I import a PSD and/or a PNG in Resolve, the color profile is out of whack, all my colors are more saturated. I tried no color management, I tried having various color profiles embedded in a PNG but I can't find a solution to make sure what I see in Photoshop and in Resolve match. Please help.

It would be huge if Resolve would simply import the individual layers like Premiere.

Hey Chadwick, As the holiday season is approaching, I just wanted to take the time to say that I appreciate all the hard work you've put into making videos for the community on YT. I've been an editor for over 10 years and adopted Davinci in 2019, it was a struggle finding tutorials with useful information (not just clickbait and gimmicks). Countless hours, days have been lost on projects trying to navigate a new software, until your channel. There must be tens of thousands of editors like myself who have been significantly impacted by your tutorials. The time you must dedicate to researching and learning the multitude of products, scripting and crafting these videos and answering the communities' questions is unimaginable. Thank you (and you family) for all the hard work. We see you Chadwick, we appreciate you.

Thanks Ron, there is no way that I know of to go from After Effects to Fusion. However, you can still achieve similar, often times better results in Fusion but it'd done in a very different way. I have lots planned to teach on it this year on the channel. Why do you primarily use AE? I'd like to take note for doing the same in Fusion.
@kickproductions1

@@CreativeVideoTips Yes I'm a prior user of AE but in the past few years switched to "DR" I've got templates etc. "Digital Juice" is the name of the company that I was using templets created in "AE" just didn't want to do away with them. Is why I'm inquiring. But I'll definitely be watching out for your tutorials on Fusion.

Would you mind helping maybe a video on this problem? I bring in a media into a fusion comp. i create an animation in fusion. i drag said fusion comp into a smart bin. great works as expected UNTIL... new resolve project. drag that smart fusion comp onto a new timeline. and the fusion comp has dropped the media used when created it! How do i keep the media used in a fusion comp/smart bin, to always link from project to project? I cannot find the answer anywhere!

One way could be to turn it into a plug-in and always have it available on the edit page. That would be my first instinct. I need to dig a little more though, I haven’t come across that before.

First thanks for this great tip, saves me great deal of time googling. Secondly, it's a shocker in 2022 DR18 still doesn't auto-import PSD layers as a compound clip/ track via Edit page, with whole node hierarchy unpacked in clean logical order in Fusion. Would've saved us 382 hack-ish clicks. I say this as a Customized Workplace type, and defo not a node-phobe, and I got onboard DR Studio recently too, because offline and beefy. All that said workarounds like this only shows DR's bloated UI and age, BM really needs to get with the times. Thanks again dude.

i have one confusion. before starting any project i put master setting in project as 1080 x 1920 hd and while editing i converted that 1080p clip to 2160 x 3840 (4k) via timeline setting . . . . but after that when i click to settings icon the timeline resolution still shows 1080 x 1920 hd however the deliver page shows its a 4k . . .idk why they are different
@CreativeVideoTips
@CreativeVideoTips Год назад
Timeline settings and project settings are what matter when you go to export. As long as they are the size you need and you export at that resolution you always get those exact pixels out when you render a timeline. Does that help?

One of the joys of Resolve is that it is free, or a one-time licence and not subscription. It would be lovely if, therefore, it supported the equivalent in the graphics world - Affinity Photo and Affinity Designer - to import afphoto and afdesign files (which are interchangeable). Using them and Resolve means I have now dropped my entire Creative Cloud subscription - which is a relief (since I am broke!) Really enjoying your tutorials, by the way!

@@CreativeVideoTips Awesome... This might sound very "niche", but knowing you master both FCP and DaVinci.. I would love to contents aiming to teach DaVinci specifically for people coming from Final Cut, and even more specifically when it comes to logging and media management.. a thing that is mostly overlooked and that is SO powerful in FCP.. I'm a documentary filmmaker handling huge amounts of material, and In my opinion, there is a magic and understated feature, unique to FCP that makes the selection workflow incredibly fast, but barely never mentioned in any RU-vid tutorial: the FILMSTRIP VIEW in the browser. It somehow exists in DaVinci but is much more limited because the filmstrip can’t be longer than the width of the browser window. If say you have a 45 min long interview clip, even in filmstrip view, it will be extremely compressed and difficult to make precise selection without double clicking and opening it in the viewer. Only this, for me is game changer. You literally see your entire film without having to click on anything or even hoover over any clip. This is specially useful for documentary content when you have a lot of footage not necessarily organised like in a comercial or fiction. And additionally ... the other amazing feature is the ability to make multiple In and Outs in the same clip. I mark the selection as favourite (F) and then generally apply a keyword (cmd-K), which automatically creates a Keyword Collection ( the equivalent of a 'bin' in Premiere), where you will find your selections appearing as individual clips. I create keywords related to the content, say for example 'INTRO' for all the part I consider could work for my cold open, and other keywords more related to the type of shot or location, for example 'CLOSE-UP' or 'GARDEN'. I sometimes add a 'Comment' too, specially if editing interviews, I would type a smart summary of the idea expressed by the interviewee in that section. ( Anything you write becomes searchable, which is immensely useful ) Once you're done, you can refine your organisation by creating Smart Keywords Collections to combine different Keywords together, if for example you want to regroup all the 'close-up' shots that you filmed in the 'garden' and that you considered for the 'Cold Open'. It's super convenient, because unlike traditional bins, the same clip can appear in different keyword collections depending in the way you want to search. Anyway.. That being said.. I'm so tired of FCP inability to communicate well with other softwares, for color or professional sound mix.. so I want to switch.. and I'm looking for people who know the power of FCP and what people love in it.. to be able to show alternatives in Da Vinci. Videos on RU-vid tent to only show pure editing workflow on the timeline but completely overlook the media management aspect.. how to classify and access very quickly to any part of your footage with is absolutely key to tall a good story. I'm rambling here.. I hope you get the idea! Thanks and looking forward to see your new content
