i have a friend that gets water too his off grid cabin this way. The water never stops running in the winter. Not dripping or a slight trickle. Full blast like 2gpm the whole time any time were up in the winter. When he leaves he disconnects it from the cabin and just lets it run into the yard.
Where I live right now used to have a well. They wanted a sprinkler system so a tank was put in the ground to collect enough to keep the pump from having to keep working. So maybe they have a reserve tank?
I would rather have that than what I got when I bought my house. Originally had a 2” well less than 30 feet deep, about 20 feet from the septic and 10 feet from the back of the house. Except the well wasn’t working correctly so the original well driller (OLD Amish man, no the owner wasn’t Amish) was called. He broke the top 10” off the pipe trying to fix it so he pulled the rest of the pipe and left it on the ground and replaced it with 1 1/2” pipe. I don’t remember now if that was before or after I had an inspector check the house. I had never owned a house before and WAS very trusting at the time and it ever occurred to me there might be a problem. I found out after closing. Neither the 2” and 1 1/2” well pipes and distance from the septic tank weren’t within code. By the time the problem was corrected, completely at my expense and after 2 new wells done because the first company I hired was as unethical and seemingly ignorant of the code as the old Amish man, I knew enough about the code that I could have qualified for a drilling license. The first drilling company I hired was in the process of being investigated by the state department that oversees wells but that department didn’t see fit to let me know about that even when I told them about the problem from the original driller, asked for a recommendation, showed them from the list of licensed drilling contractors which ones I was going to call and they knew one of my choices was being investigated and was about to have their license revoked! And the Better Business Bureau didn’t have any complaints about them. That was 21 years ago and you may be able to tell I’m still just a tad miffed about it all. But boy of boy, did I learn some very valuable lessons so not a total waste I guess. 🫤
That's why spring fed wells are a no no now. They can be grandfathered in here but, yeah, that's a whole bunch of nope. Can pretty much guarantee a positive coliform test. So from the Environmental Health OSS Guy, hard pass for me. Good news is the septic has a big enough set back, assuming it's not just a dry well.😂
We have villages that have similar surface „spring water“ as the main supply here in the southern Philippines. Even though it’s in the hills with less people, residents often get sick from the water. A good filtration and purification system is really important for places like these.
Man, it'd be great to have you as a neighbor. I pour drinks and you tell your crazy-ass stories. :) Stay well, Preston. Watch out for that Blair Witch stuff.
You sir, do get some interesting ones. At least the setback to their septic is good. A shame about it being a spring fed well so it's got poor setback to the forest's septic system 😅. EH nightmare there.
That new jacket looks sharp on ya! 🎉 Congratulations! You might want to pick up a hi-vis vest, just in case people with their pew-pews mistake you for a four-legged food source... Pardon the pun, but it'll be a great inVESTment.
I did a weird drive and rung the door bell with a sign that says dong ring the doorbell and don’t make it weird. I made it weird. Then I found the correct house. Also don’t ring the odor because baby is asleep. Sometimes you just feel like a jerk
