I remember doing basically this on GT5 all the time on back in the day with friends. We would set a Performance Points cap, and everyone would tune their cars up, and then we'd go racing on Daytona. Such good fun.

This race is somehow very similar to bicycle road racing. There's the breakaway group, there's the chasers, and of course there's the peloton.

Yes oval racing really can be a fun form of racing. The close proximity of your opponents and having to time your moves perfectly can be quite thrilling you know!

The Penalty made sense for the game since you lifted off in a full throttle secgion and the game sees this as brakechecking if the other guy touches you.

Bumpdrafting actually isn't the fastest way. You should just let eachother go in front of one another and switch positions everytime (only on the straights). You basically slingshot each other.

You're not considering the line. If you move out of the line you lose your place in the line and so move to the back of it. You have to consider that rather than simply thinking of absolute speed. Anyway, cars that pull out to the side lose their momentum and don't get past so I definitely can tell you it isn't quicker. Bump drafting is the fastest way.

Lower your ride height and raise the gear. You need the most you can get from the draft. Camber adjustments will also help.

Everyone touching each other, extreme speeds for all the race, almost touching the wall. And they say Nascar drivers just have to turn to 1 side therefore it's easier. Put a F1 driver in Nascar and watch them die.
