As a fellow Scientician who received medical training and a doctorate titled 'Prankology: The Missing Link in the "Nature vs Nurture" Theory' from the prestigious School of Complicated Science at the Yale-Harvard-Oxford Correspondence University of the Cayman Islands, I can confirm this (see: my doctoral thesis, mentioned prior). I finally had a dream with Danny in it last week. Was sort of a nightmare, essentially I was hanging out with Danny but then I was late for work and got fired. So in a way, Danny caused a nightmare scenario for me financially.
Most are people just uploading their own tik tioks or other peoples so he is technically correct, which is unfortunate because I think original content is cool and they should push that instead

I deleted TikTok because I needed a break from the addiction. I ended up just watching RU-vid shorts instead, without being able to stop. Even though the content on RU-vid shorts is boring and bad, I just couldn’t stop scrolling. The addiction was even worse.
@@naomi8420 you can actually disable them in settings you might not be able too another way to do it is to delete shorts from your recommended page I did the 2nd option and I stopped scrolling :) hope this helped! ❤

Yeah! It's made worse cause the algorithm quickly became better than tiktok ever was for me, so I feel like it's worth it to waste the time until I back out and realize how long its been

I used to not watch RU-vid shorts, then, one faithful night, I started watching them. I can't explain the horrors I have found there without scarring you all, but they are certainly there. And, what's worse, if you're watching something frozen in horror, it recommends more of it. Truly a terrible cycle. 5 stars.

It’s scary how this is the direction of where EVERY SINGLE VIDEO PLATFORM is going, because we just have such short attention span and we need to feel like we obtained information/information in a short period of time
@@Pokegirlforever2000 yeah i didn’t like tiktok simply bc i don’t feel like i get a chance to breathe, so to speak. unless you pause the video to read comments, everything is constantly playing and replaying, you never get a second to just pause. youtube gives you opportunities to binge comments or scroll through videos without actively engaging in any content.
YES! I deleted tiktok after I got addicted to scrolling long past when my enjoyment ended. But now I have the same problem here on youtube, hours and hours of mind-numbing content that I don't enjoy nor care about
I will admit I am a big RU-vid Shorts watcher, but I wouldn’t say I enjoy them. I’ll be on RU-vid to watch a regular video and one suggested short will catch my eye, and then I find myself scrolling and scrolling and endlessly watching. It’s honestly incredible how good they are at keeping you in that loop, it’s much worse than TikTok. I can’t ever escape.

I also see people do it for collabs. Like someone links the person they made a video with in their bio but ALSO in the comments to make it more likely for someone to check out their friend’s channel

that little puff used to make videos where they would make drinks in asmr, i don't think they make videos like that anymore and i kinda miss them, each drink was cute and had a theme to it. sometimes they would mix ingredients that go together really well, and sometimes..(one time actually) they would mix sprite and crushed tomatoes together, both of those probably don't go well but i haven't tasted it so
In response to 9:47 I can explain why you might need/want a link in the comment. I am a part of numerous discord vent servers that I joined through links in the comments of vent playlists, not to mention the fact that you might need to put a link to, say, a website that backs something said/argued in a comment. I do see your point though, and RU-vid really does have a ridiculously out of hand spamming problem.
I remember when my brother was little he thought everything on TV was fake because that's what we told him. But he thought fake as in everything you see on TV including people on the news was just simply drawn. Those people did not actually exist they are just hyperrealistic drawings. Honestly, I think he was on to something. Off topic but I needed to share.

I had a nightmare last night where Danny was in a weird glass room with a person shouting at them to “eat the soup” (there was nothing there) the person and Danny were sitting facing each other on wooden chairs with a table infront of them. Danny notices me, takes an origami frog, breaks the glass, comes up to me, and says “howdy cowboy” then I woke up. Strange
That Little Puff is actually pretty fun to watch. They have a second cat that shows up in the clips sometimes too, and they do make a little production out of the failed attempts at recreating the life hacks/crafts as well. At first I thought it was kind of weird but it grew on me after seeing their stuff show up in my FB feed pretty consistently. Ever since that odd attempt from RU-vid trying to shove the shorts in my face (maybe last year? don't really remember all I know is that it was there in my recommended for a solid week), I haven't seen them at all and I legitimately thought they were removed or put on a separate platform or something. I had no idea Puff was actually on here because all their clips link to Instagram (which I don't even use so I just assumed that's where they came from) on FB. I know that part is "Meta" trying to shill more of their software but it just never occurred to me that they'd be here of all places for some reason lmao Edit: I should clarify, I'm a colossal boomer for this site because I've been here since the opening months of its creation. I'm just so used to full on videos from content creators that the whole shorts thing just makes me cringe and avoid it altogether. That stuff is just so bizarre to me. Even TikTok weirded me out when I tried it, and I completely missed out on Vine. I guess I'm so used to seeing insane shitposting on FB that it's a little more doable for me... the cat videos really bother me for some reason, they're using their cat for clout, dressing him up in clothes, which can actually mess with cats body temperatures not to mention this cat already has long fur. I'm sure the cat is fine, but i just find it a little odd.
I think for me it's the obvuously fake sound effects. Like the weird "slurp meow" thing that happens. It bothers me to no end. And it's the same effects EVERY SINGLE TIME. So the videos become repetitive and cringey the more and more I see them

I deleted tiktok 'cause I hate the unintentional time wasting but RU-vid shorts kind of got me against my will, lol. The algorithm knows me too well and shows thumbnails of really good looking food I want to make, and then I scroll to the next one without thinking and am watching a million shorts about a million things without meaning to. I do think youtube needs to be careful about promotion though, I scroll immediately past shorts that have zero comments and recently in the split second I've been on a few, they've had almost pr0n-like content? I never watch them to check 'cause those kinds of things are what I was trying to avoid in the first place, but a few of them have been pretty obvious in just the first few seconds.

Yeah, I know what you mean with the pr0n like stuff. It seems like there’s a bunch of channels using the shorts algorithm by just spamming the same pr0n-like videos all over their channel, and I’ve run into SOOOOO many without even trying to (Yes I’m kind of addicted to RU-vid shorts, they keep shoving them down my throat :/ ). Every time I see something gross I press don’t recommend channel, and usually report as well, but I think that the problem might lie more within the system promoting spam-like videos and not with individual users posting gross and violent stuff. I guess just report and move on and maybe one day it’ll be fixed. :/
For a bit they had an annoying "feature" where when you'd open YT it would automatically open yt shorts as the home screen then you'd have to press home in the app to actually get to your regular feed. Im sure it was used to bulk those numbers, make it look like we were actually watching when in fact they forced it on us lol

Since everyone is commenting about their Danny dreams, I'll share mine. I had my first one two nights ago. I was invited to go hang out with Danny and Laura at their house. The house was really fancy, and so I asked Danny how much it cost, and he answered exactly like this: "Two..... (long pause) hundred thousand. And four million." And I'm still not over how weirdly he worded it lol. Turned out he lived in a rich, hoity toity neighborhood with Abbey Sharpe if you know her, and someone threw up on my car, and we all went to party on the beach.
