I like how the Tribal Dudes accidentally take out Red Fluff Bird when they make their entrance, and then at the end, Red Fluff Bird totally decks Blue Tribal Dude in retaliation. It's stuff like that which bring puppets to life and give them personalities.
Imagine being Barnaby Dixon and having the voice of warm milk and honey and that not even being your best talent. Jealous of this man's skill in both singing and puppetry
The song is beautiful, but I absolutely love how to puppets interact. Falling from the celling, popping up from the sides of the camera, kicking and whacking each other, it must take an unreal amount of skill and editing to pull that off.
I love the little tribal guys entire aesthetic. The way the little spears wiggle on their heads and the mesh body suit with the little gloves is just a perfect look. Well done as always with the entire performance.
Not mad at all. Just totally worn out by the mindlsess tedium of the unfailing inevitability of nameless people saying the same predicable pointless things over and over.
I legit can’t stop listening to this. I’ve heard the Wellerman + Levan before, but not this good. Your voice is perfect, and those harmonies? Dear god.
You make these puppets seem so real, their movements are so smooth and fluid as if they had a mind of their own. You are truly an amazing and skillful man.
@@Griftyfox It's actually the editing I think! If you go frame by frame whenever they hit each other (0:55, 1:15), you can see the frame where it transitions from the puppet being controlled to the puppet with no hands in it!
I’m not fully caught up on the puppets, so I could very likely be wrong, but if each puppet is a single hand controlled one, he’d only have to operate both of them at once and everyone else is edited in
That said, it mightn't feel right to experience this amazing cover without seeing the gorgeous colours of the puppets. Hmm.. Can Spotify allow music videos on their service?
thank you barnabydixon. This put a smile on my face. I've been in the sloop droop feels as of late but your amazing puppeteering/music videos always seem to brighten my day. thanks man.
i am NOT okay with how good this is, I don't understand how people can understand and create a sound that does nothing but captivate its listener, I've listened to this 3 times now, I don't plan on stopping soon
Came from the Algorithm, now I love the hairy boys and am going backwards through everything. It's amazing how much wonderful things are in this world, and how easy they are to miss!
Wow, I got total muppet show vibes. Just a fun whimsical little sketch with charm that can only be captured through the magic of puppetry. Amazing work!
SHANTIES BATTLE! "The Hairy Neon Boys" : *Barnaby in a really dark room move with his hands a Funky Orange puppet bird* VS. "The Device Orchestra" : *A Electric Toothbrush with googly eyes and an Orange wig give angry noises* BEGIN!
We’re learning this song in band, along with Pirates of the Caribbean, in our last couple of weeks before the end of the school year. After such a long school year, it feels really weird that my last day of school is next Thursday.. but I also feel like it went by quite fast, which might just be because doing remote learning, you just sit in the same place the whole day and nothing is very memorable, so when you look back on it, it feels like it went by pretty fast. Like when you wake up and feel like not much time passed while you were asleep, or after you accidentally fall asleep you feel like all you did was close your eyes for a minute.
How, in the name of all that is, did you manage to hear the Ievan Polkka in the Wellerman enough to mash them up in such an unexpectedly delicious way?!?!?!?
This is simultaneously amazing and terrifying. Amazing because that's some skill and terrifying because they're puppets and they move. Also gives off princess and the frog vibes.
