They were pretty well rehearsed let’s say and of course Toby went into this loaded for bear winner take all so I’m willing to bet he spent a good couple grand to get that many people together last minute or maybe he was planning at the whole time………Will never know :-)
+Michael Yup his successor as Prime Minister Clement Attlee said "Democracy means government by discussion, but it is only effective if you can stop people talking."
The worst thing that can happen in a democracy - as well as in an individual's life - is to become cynical about the future and lose hope. Hillary Clinton Read more at: www.brainyquote.com/quotes/keywords/democracy.html
Seeing that Trump won it might be time to trow in another Churchill quote: "My rule of life prescribed as an absolutely sacred rite smoking cigars and also the drinking of alcohol before, after and if need be during all meals and in the intervals between them."
I was once accused of trying to steal someone's identity by asking to see their driver's license so I could check if they were registered. The guy got so angry about it, I almost thought he was going to hit me in the face.
I live in Britain and (hopefully you know) we had the EU vote a few months ago. The voting started at 7am. I missed the bus to college (high school!), but seeing as I only had one lesson and knew my teacher wasn't going to be in anyway, I just thought "sod it" and walked home. I realised I now had the time to vote so when I got home I gathered up my stuff and went out to the hall set aside for the vote... When I walked in there, there were two women behind the table collecting peoples info etc. and they just had this look on their faces like "I do not want to be here. I want to be in bed. Why did I volunteer for this. Goddammit." I felt very sorry for them. Then went home and went to bed again.
I've watched this episode so many time - but I literally only just realised that Josh's scream at the end was answering the guys question. I don't know why but I always thought it was like a release of pressure, happy that they had got to election day and that they were going to win. It's odd how you can misconstrue something like that.
Toby is the unique Democrat--he thinks like a Republican. While a Democrat gets into office and thinks, "whew! that was close! let's not rock the boat or we might lose the next one", an ideologue thinks, "finally! now let's get everything done before we get voted out by the know-nothings".
Megan Cavanagh: ".......uh who remembers..........." Brad Whitford: "...........it was a minute and a half ago....." Megan Cavanagh: ".........well, don't be rude............."
Fun scene, but Josh would have voted absentee, of course. Almost all campaign workers do that so they can work the polls on election day PLUS they don't run the risk of not voting because of some accident.
See, you should have put a period after "scene" and left it at that. Because this isn't real. It's a fictional drama. And Aaron Sorkin has said repeatedly he doesn't care about realism. If he has to make a choice between being entertaining or being real, he will always choose being entertaining. So stop trying to apply reality because it doesn't apply.
@ethanpan2335 yes he is and he would've been registered as a DC voter. The original commenter is saying that Josh would've voted via postal ballot as there is so much to do on election day.
I am in a city where a mayoral race has drawn passions. I saw 2 different people ask online if you have to live in the city to vote for it's mayor. Suddenly, this WW skit doesn't seem so farcical.
Think you might want to watch that again :) She left all but one box blank, which means you filled in one, and left all the rest blank, hence you voted for none but one.
Still have to mark all the boxes. Straight ticket voting just means you chose candidates from only one party. It's not a type of election. Josh was right.
Not every state has that I believe. In some states you have to do every troop but in others I think you can just check the box next to the party at the top of the ballot.
It was 20 hrs in America episode I think when josh Toby and Donna missed air force one flight and stuck in wherever. I forget how or why but josh had Toby tell anyone he meets.. “I’m Toby Ziegler and I work at the White House “.😂😂
That is Chicago, where the male vagrants grew their hair for two months before Election Day so they could cast their vote four times in the same precinct.
* BSGT2TREKFAN88* Besides Halo 4, what games are you playing these days? Also, if you have a gaming PC, what are your system specs? You ready for the coming Cyberpunk 2077?
I cannot remember; was this before or after the prank everyone pulled on Toby where they said there was no way Toby wouldn’t praise the president before the debates when he wasn’t sharp and on point and needing to go “back to camp.”? If it is after it shows how Toby gets the last laugh with a troop of actors or how (if before) Josh and the crew really gave it to Toby for pulling this stunt first. My guess? This was retribution, that a bunch of seemingly ignorant voters, one after another, strikes fear into Josh.
Miles Reiter I figured. However, I get the feeling they kind of pulled that kind of a prank or stunt on each other a few times. I miss this show. The acting troupe was pretty good. I liked the woman who “ranked” the candidates. One after another No one seemingly knew how to correctly ballot. I like the head of the group getting in the extra point about being registered.
The thing that REALLY made me laugh is when, near the end of the scene, you see all the "actors" in the background behind Josh, and Josh realizes that they were all in on the joke. #HILARIOUS
seriously though, ballots should be simpler. If we didn't have the butterfly ballots in 2000, florida wouldnt have caused so much confusion. Whose bright idea was that anyway? And I'm all for multiple parties, but I really think the same person shouldn't be the nominee for more than one party. 1:58 also ranked choice voting needs to be a thing. But if it isn't, don't vote like it is.
The Butterfly Ballot was a "solution" to the high number of candidates on the ballot. In order to include both name and party, the ballot was redesigned. Of course, any person with eyeballs can tell you that the solution was needlessly complicated, but in reality it wasn't *that* hard. Many people did vote correctly. Some people just get confused easily in these types of circumstances. A later mock up demonstrated that by rearranging the presentation of name and party, the ballot could keep the original, simpler format. Also yeah first past the post sucks.
Truth All The Way Down. I cannot wait to see Rep Matt Gaetz' non reaction allegedly. Kicking The Tyres oh and a surprising wheelie? Tucker Carlson. A person work sign and yes Imagination. The Wheeltappers and Shunters Social Club was a British television variety show produced by Granada Television from 1974 to 1977. It was set in a fictional working men's club in the North of England They May Be Giants Just In Play Fair.
It's...a show from the perspective of a Democratic administration. Of course they believe in what they're doing. I love the unquestioned assumption that permeates your comments that your time is best wasted digging up clips of a show that clearly irritates the hell out of you.
To the contrary there were plenty of episodes that called into question the morality of their cause. Check out “The woman of Qumar” where CJ raises hell over us selling weapons to nations that abuse women. Or “Han” where a North Korean tries to defect and is denied for political reasons. Many of these episodes do a good job of presenting arguments of both sides and sometimes I didn’t agree with the administration and their view. Leo leaves Bartlett due to his reluctance to strike back at Palestinians that attacked an American convoy. I disagreed strongly with Bartlett and disliked his refusal to use force when needed, all hall marks of democratic politics. Give it another look.
@@SonOfGod3000 There was an episode in the very first season about a gun control bill where someone "jumped the fence"l. And took Josh to task over it for almost a minute, basically telling him to his face "you compromised too much to get this to pass, it's not solving what you want it to solve, and that's why I'm now against this bill". While these were the protagonists, and the center of the show's focus, I never really mistook them as being entirely "in the right". They were often making decisions with the best intentions, yet knew there was compromises and flaws which they had to hurtle past in order to avoid getting paralyzed over trying to make a "perfect" decision when they simply needed to make *the* decision. And at the same time, those opposed to them sometimes are simply trying to do the best thing as they see it. Though it's easy enough to see common threads of politicians simply playing politics as though it's a game to sit at the table as long as they can. (Again, the same episode I mentioned had a Congressman 'on their side' threaten to switch their vote unless they "sat at the cool kids' table" as Josh put it.) ... then there's the somewhat minor point of how President Bartlett is still a somewhat insufferable 'genius' and loves inflicting himself on people because he can. While still being a caring, supportive person when it's needed. He's flawed, in many ways, some of them major to his character... Kind of interesting to think of.
