The Demon Docker - our very last Monmouthshire Society Railtour after nearly 40 years of arranging successful trips on the network of lines throughout South Wales. Filmed from the cab of Class 37 37038 for the section of the tour from Ebbw Junction to Ebbw Vale South GF. Ebbw Vale Corus steelworks had closed the previous day.
Traction for tour: 37197, 37038 plus 08951 and 08854.
Route covered: Newport- Newport Docks South Quay - Cardiff Tidal Sidings - Channel Sidings - Kings Wharf Jcn - Minimet LC - Tidal Sidings- Pengam Sdgs - Cardiff Central - Barry - Bridgend - Tondu Llynfi Goods Loop - Margam Moors Yard - Bridgend - Cardiff Central - Ebbw Junction - Park Jcn - Ebbw Vale South GF - Park Jcn- Gaer Jcn - Newport.
Footage contributed to the Monmouthshire Railway Society in 2002 by an unidentified passenger.

Been waiting 20 years to see this :-) I was driving that section. It was filmed by the driver I'd relived who promised to let me have a copy but never got around to it.

Sarn Place Risca at 3:00 all double track now, looks odd seeing that the Lime Kiln Crossing had a single track running and a disused track next to it, looks different with No Station at Crosskeys and Newbridge, I live down from Crosskeys Station in Risca Road, I wonder why the train was using the down line to travel up at 3:50, and not the track next to it.

jason long I think it was just condition of track. We had stables in aberbeeg when the steel trains used to still run. Also remember being in school when these 37s ran up through to oakdale. Used to see them from pontllanfraith comp
