I live in New Zealand and am of Maori descent. The NZ I grew up in is vastly different from today. Race is now a big thing. Elite Maori are racist towards pakeha(white people) but gaslight claiming they are victims of colonization and white supremacy. We are divided , but not by race. Ideology is what divides us. Indigenous people the world over appear to be captured by leftist Marxists conned into believing they victims of racism.

I recently was told by a "woke" fellow white person that wiping my behind with "white" toilet paper was an example of "heteronormative, colonial, transphobic, fat shaming, patriarchal, white privilege - with a dash of white supremacy" - so I bought a used copy of Robin DiAngelo's book - "White Fragility" - and now I keep that right next to the toilet and I just tear out a few pages as needed - works great - AND - I feel more "virtuous" too with no real effort on my part. The truth in my “lived experience” is that working class black people and those of us who are working class white people seem for the most part to see right through this woke nonsense - and we understand that “we" - ARE NOT - “each other’s" - enemies - no matter how hard the oligarchy and their brain-dead minions among the 'woke' cult try to get us to hate and distrust each other. Just saying.

I live in an Eastern European country. This division of people was also under socialism, that's what every totalitarian regime does. The condition of admission to the school was primarily the origin of the parents. When someone came from a working-class family, he had a better chance of getting to school or a leadership position at work than someone who came from a family of, say, a doctor or a mechanical engineer.

I question if there is any such thing as "western privilege." Is Britain really better than many parts of Latin America, Botswana, Asia? 508,000 emigrants left Britain last year. Briton on net loses a lot of millionaires every year. Vast numbers of Britishers are moving to Eastern Europe, the Americas, the USA, Kenya, Seychelles, Mauritius, Australia, Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, Hong Kong, Vietnam, China other Asian countries (Bangalore to work in tech) The UK has one of the world's slower growing economies per capita; and the UK might soon have a lower per capita income than Malaysia if Labour wins the next UK election. The UK's share of global income and wealth are collapsing rapidly; as the rest of the world rises rapidly. The UK's infrastructure is backwards compared to the brand spanking new infrastructure across Asia, many parts of Latin America and growing parts of Africa. The UK is economically falling behind. Even if we look only at UK residents, economic power is increasingly in the hands of ethnics and immigrants. 67 out of 146 British billionaires are first generation immigrants. Soon the overwhelming vast majority of British billionaires are likely to be immigrants and the children and grandchildren of immigrants; or non English ethnics. And similar trends are happening to British elites, co-founders, members of founding teams, angel investors, venture capitalists, private equity, I Bankers, consultants, technologists, scientists, inventors, artists. In GCSE 10th standard exams, ethnic English students perform worse academically than ethnics and immigrants. Including performing considerably worse than African Britons. The UK has the equivalent of an emerging Bumiputera (from Malaysia) challenge. An academically and socio-economically lower performing majority population (ethnic English versus ethnic Malays in the case of Malaysia) that is heavily subsidized and supported by higher performing immigrants and ethnics. For the British to even consider considering the challenges of "white privilege" or "western privilege", ethnic English need to academically and socio-economically perform a lot better than they are. Foster, Kisin, Ada and Inaya Folarin; how would you respond to this critique?
@Asptuber
@Asptuber Месяц назад
Interesting scenario, thank you. But I think you misunderstood what Kisin or Foster meant by "Western privilege". It is not about ethnicity or skin colour, it is about things working in the sense of rule of law. Having a good passport. Having a legal system that is (in theory at least) predictable. Basic education available to all, public libraries.
@AnAn___
@AnAn___ Месяц назад
@@Asptuber Aren't these things increasingly globally common? Especially in Asia? But to a lesser degree in growing parts of Latin America. And to the African lion regions of Africa (Seychelles, Mauritius, Botswana . . . and probably soon the economic miracle growing countries of Rwanda, Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda) If the English people want to, they can take credit for how "British" much of the world has become (including the USA + the commonwealth) and take great pride in the success and rise of former colonies. And there is truth to this. However, it is clear that the rest is rapidly rising; and in many cases has risen. And have strengthening rule of law and education systems.

Part1: That's a good question at 10:00 mins in by Inaya Folarin Iman. For sure politics is about action its is primarily practical pragmatic or on the left called Praxis. The meta-practical imperative of politics is often power and determination, which tends to mean, respectively: getting a large following or now called creating a community or making Solidarity, forming a Commune, a Commons, in recent left speak; and having the institutional capability and capacity to do political policy stuff mediated by "legitimate institutions. Often as the guests point out the political imperative the aim say, can allow a silencing of any opposition, or cause the silencing of opposition. Though there are many other less obvious ways of preventing any "detraction", or "distraction", from the dogmatic purpose, usually its jsut ignored for other things going on in the media everyday. In this practical reason and action in the public sphere take president over truth or theory, or even distort them both to support the practical political imperative. But the question is about the slogan Black Lives Matter, the denial or negation of which would appear to be "It is not the case that Black lives matter" , or "Black lives don't Matter". This is a familiar rhetorical device in political slogan, you want to express and imperative that seems to have no negation or possible denial. Of course "Black Lives don't Matter" does make logical and linguistic sense, it is meaningful, not gibberish. It is as a kind of imperative a maxim for action that its denial seems impossible. We might say this is only due to the anti-racism climate of current culture and politics. That is if the culture is changed then Black lives don't matter would then be possible to say. Indeed many now disenchanted by the left imagine that the right have the only possible linguistic imperative option of asserting the negation of the lefts own slogans. If an alternative politics were to jsut add their own "identity" into the list of "lives that matter" then firstly they are playing within the practical and institutional organisations created by the left. they are proclaiming for themselves to be that where "identity " is key and then the institutions to deliver the lefts version of justice through their own schema. That is the apparent particular and subjective authority of my person in the assertion "i am mixed race", is not original in me but in the prior framework of identity politics the left have set up prior to my speech and which gives it its performative force of recognition. that is in Hegelian spirit if the left add more stuff to their content of identity politics then i have, have it added to my meaning of my speech whether i want to or not. Secondly if the left change and move against identity politics maybe as no longer useful for their aim, then that will rob my identity assertion of its recognition and use. The modern left might still look like 1960's 70's street protests by amatures, but it is not. For unlike in the 1960's and 70s they haver great instituional representation capacity and capability. The left have a whole array of institutional policy and comitology and projects and so on both ongoing and planned. With this we realise the BLM slogan is a maxim for various known and unknown institutionally centred and funded projects. Denial of the BLM slogan means rejecting the project and the institution and all those workers loose their jobs. The slogan "S" and its negation "not S" are set as "S" or "not S", but the two possible institutional practical versions delivered on the ground are not so logically opposed. They are program running on the ground in a community verses the program not running or another political project program running in its place. This means an alternative program is not logically opposed to the initial program necessarily. Indeed both could run at the same time an Hegelian "A and not A” now makes sense practically. This multiple possible practical "reality" behind the slogans, explains why so much politics today is fraught with contradictions and the attempt to associate apparent logical oppositions at the slogan and its reasons level. that is why people on the left seem to hold contrary and speak practically impossible performative self contradictions. Indeed the Critiques of the left enjoyed pointing these sorts of apparent practical contradictions and hypocrisies. Thing is for the left it is the practical that is first and the cognitive and theory must serve the political imperative. They are not worried about the contradictions. Indeed no one seems to be worried by them these days. Two cognitively contradictory policies can run at the same time in the same place. if i gave the same money to the left and to the right then that would not mean zero on the ground it would mean two policies running on the ground at the same time, not necessarily opposed at all.
@harveyyoung3423
@harveyyoung3423 Месяц назад
Part 2: That then is one aspect of practical “public” institutional depth behind the slogan, but there is also a very experiential “private” emotional depth too. This is also related to action but to the organisation of many actions though determination of each person’s feelings their “e-motion” to be pointing the same way. Here the problem is how were the left able to root their policy in what in the old days of the left was seen as empty of real meaning, full of trivialities, the illusion of subjective truth, bousware, individualistic and sensationalist first person. I have been reading about the Aesthetics of the early 20th century Italian Idealists Benedetto Croce, on the Stanford Enclylopeda of Philosophy. Without going into all the details I can say that what has happened is peopels experience has been front loaded to be cognitively sensitive and give priority to the negative. But just like the notion of identity for the left, it might feel real and immediate to you to see recognise only the negative in experience, but his is because the left have already pre-loaded pre figured your experience and its recognition by both you the subject themselves, and by others with negativity. How have they done this priori practical interventions to distort our personal experiences in conformity to their policies. Beginning in the US I think, they have used the legal system and the courts as a source of evidence and description of the whole world we live in. This means an audit of all the bad stuff mostly from the media and people lap it up. Then the people with their experiential Gestalt shaped for the illegal and the criminal, gather at a Pop Festival’s and then Street Marches convinced in the World as viewed from the point of view of the Courts as the real world. Indeed now academia and the media are like a legal machine collection of data analysing risk and proposing policy. Ever likely people are sealed up in their private rooms or tribes of similar pre-sorted experiences. That’s only possible because the 1960’s and 1970’s generation of leftist and onwards have made their way into the institutions already. Does this mean an opposition needs to focus on different miseries solicited and no longer ignored by the left and run them through the courts and have pop festivals and street marches. No because men and women are different and are treated differently. Men die in wars and that’s reported by the media in a very different way to women and children, even in law. Clearly I’m pretty sure no man’s face or crying scream is even going to launch a thousand feminist ships. Giving a white feather to a women will not elicit shame, but a laugh, and a “Man up boy”. Indeed the right are either walking into a trap or intended the policy anyways. That is: it is claimed the long attacks on “white men” and their feminisation and demonization and attacks on “national pride” require a reversed response. So it is said white men are and can become real men and revered and have pride in their country. Btu what this seems to mean in terms of public policy is no “welfare for dependent weaklings” tough hard work and the shame escaping possibility of dying in one of the latest wars. The solution might be neither at the level of slogan or policy projects but in the seas of pop festivals and the like. Not more slogans. A place away from the slogans and the signing up to some policy project with very little responsibility jsut a bit of feel good. Reclaim Rock n Roll for its own sake in a space very difficult to organise around logical types and linguistic identities. Not much has changed in 44 years a local pub band around 1981 "Raw Material" had an ambiguous song called "identity". What has changed is there arn't many pub or pub bands left. i think performers go straight from RU-vid to Wembley Stadium now.
@harveyyoung3423
@harveyyoung3423 Месяц назад
Part B1: I just want to clear up, or clear away, a possible misunderstanding of my central point about the left's apparent projection of a politics of internal self contradiction and hypocrisy and performative contradiction. My point began with the claim that for the left the cognitive or theoretical expressions involving contradictions between various determined identities might be good fodder for their Right and conservative Critics, but is not regarded by them as particularly problematic, since they "think" in terms primarily of action and policy not its cognitive or knowledge expression. They are orientated towards determinate (policy project) action first not its theoretical or reasoned basis. This does not mean they have unlimited subjective policy project deuterations, eg as completely "open", but it does means that the external determine limits of project actions are seen, also at the practical public level of limits expressed and acted on by Rights laws. Thus legitimacy slides from the cognitive agreement and consent of the people of the policy sovereignty, towards international rights law. Legitimacy becomes more an issue of acting within negative human rights law not peopels consent. Indeed the positive or capability approach to human rights also affords, in terms of some integrated unity of projects, in a justice to come, reason for policy without the need for any internal sovereign consent at all. Rights then as virtual institutional possible actions can in this determine both external limit of policy and positive policy reasons w.r.t justice as advent. Thus the rights can apparently make sovereignty and consent by the people redundant in the chains of justification and legitimacy it becomes a wholly complex but internal institutional affair. Consent and legitimacy are eliminated (to phrase it in a materialist view and vocabulary in the philosophy of mind and justification) or alienated (to phrase it in terms of Feuerbach) to institutions of law, a complexity only for a legion of experts. This is my view on the meaning and praxis of Derrida's influential work on on justice and the law. It should be clear then while i reject any substantive and appropriate Critique of the left at the level of cognition and ordinary binary set theory logic, for they are not primarily in this game of reason first then action (eg Hume belief/motivation model). This does not mean i think they are, off the hook, rather they are caught up in a practical problem eg caught, we might say, in a net. The problem then for them is not the dissonance of cognitively recognising conflicts of identities though there definitions, eg inhabiting or instantiating or self referring with multiple identities in a persons speech index's. Rather the problems manifest to a person in the reality of being subject multiple policy projects as they play out in "their" world. it is a problem of practical disunity with resect to people and communities of policies. the problem of trying to remake the world practically but according to concepts of identities when it is seen from the peopels point of life in the world subject to such policies.
@harveyyoung3423
@harveyyoung3423 Месяц назад
Part B2: There is then two problems of coherent unity, or indeed policy incoherence in play here, one as from the point of view of subjects inhabiting the world in which such policy happens to all at the same time simultaneously. So while each policy and project is independently reasoned and grounded in rights and data usual risk and harm, a person in the territory will experience them bearing down on them at the same time. an experience of dismemberment of the body in action, that is conflicting demands from different policy directives of action eg result is inaction and passivity by fear and confusion. The other problem of unity is in the the whole body that is the whole political parties manifesto of policy projects the unity here is claims as justice but practically is is a mere aggregation of contradictory parts. see my Gladiator/Decathlon constant distinction on different kinds of unity and so different kinds of contradictions. also Kant's "non-contradiction of will" version of his Categorical Impetrative Criteria. Another way to view this is in terms of the loss and neglect of intuition as having a central role here in rationalisations. So for example at a recent pro Palestine March in London, a Jewish guy, wearing the cap. I don’t know what this is called or what it means but I do recognise it as a Jewish symbol of some sort, and such recognition would be common here if not universal. Its still an issue being clarified but I think he wanted to cross the street through the marchers as they went past (no sure exactly). Anyway a police stopped him and, it is claimed he was told “you are too openly Jewish” and its will be “provocative” so “no you can’t”. this is a problem about action and multiple policies as they are in action over a person all at once and judge in terms of priorities. He’s not walking here! I had a thought to make T shirts with: at the top written out, the Zermalo-Fraenkel Set Theory definition of a Triangle; and below the physical definitions of Yellow in terms of wavelength or frequency of “Yellow” light. Of course it sounds a simple task but in fact is not. Z-F axioms still, struggle over geometry axiomaticisations, and well there are many different wavelengths of light we would call Yellow. The real problem though is: I might intuit a Yellow triangle as a single object, but how can I even begin to unite triangle and yellow especially if I must begin with above tow scientific legal definitions. In this is add to the long list of problems around “unity” that have beset various rationalisms at least since Leibniz.

Part B note ...and all those problems of object unity in multiple rationalist scientific axiom metrics, are small potatoes compared to the problems of object unity in interpretation when we move to the hermeneutic unity of symbol and meaning. That is to move towards the German word for science that grew up after Hegel called "Wisenshaften" in the positivist/interpretivist debates that continue today. see the excellent four volume collection of papers: "Modern" or "Contemporary".. German Philosophy" from the 1980's. the take away is can the rationalist model that underpins here the politics of simple person substitution any where and now even any-when. If intuition and consent are not redundant then the whole project is doomed.

Part B note continued: We cannot understand even the simple meaning of a functioning car, with all ready being with a competent driver and an organised environment for driving. That means at 10:20mins its not jsut a problem of what's "under the bonnet of the Car". Of course the same problem geos for the meaning of competent driver and well managed roads or what is a road at all. What is the contrast their then bare raw nature a jungle or desert, a person raised by Gorillas, a car that comes into being like Paley's watch. What is the criteria of risk now, in terms of such a difficult and manifold field of differences between "nature" and "reason"?

Now when you check that on the Internet you will find the claim that by joining the UN Muslim countries entered into a truce in that war.
