Love Bela. Had never seen this one. Love Dracula, The Black Cat, White Zombie, and The Raven probably most. Love him in supporting in the Wolfman too. Heck, there were so many good ones he did.
This was actually a 12 or 15 part Serial lasting about 3 hrs. but looks now like a condensed version lasting only 1 hr and 3 minutes. Many thanks though, I'm going to watch this anyway! David N.
Nothing worse than watching a serial that hasn't been edited down. You end up watching some scenes three times; once, on the preview, second, on the actual show, and the third time when told what happened last week! Love the edited serials.
Openins shot of the towers on the narrow building were KMTR, now KLAC on the Hollywod Storage Co, later called Bekins Van and Storage about the 900 block of Highland Ave. The station moved in the mid 1930s but the towars remained until sometime about 1970. Pioneer TV station KTTV was also in the top of that building in the late 1940s-early 1950s. Lugosi was a drug addict, too bad because he was an underrated actor.
It was very interesting to watch. It probably play well as a serial; to forget all common sense is the beauty of this movie and time period. I enjoy it for was it is or was.
