Great video. I try to give some artist (not all) grace bc we don't know what the uppers are pushing. Ex: Pink. People would think she used the culture however that was Reid pushing that image. However, these artist have to be aware and acknowledge what they are doing and how it's perceived. Thanks again CCB!!!

i think the current form of hip hop draws enough alternative influences that a majority of it might not actually be hip hop outside of some 808s and rolling high hats, but that's a different talk. I think that the white pivot foot is a good way of putting it. cool video man.

Whenever you point out Post Malone being a culture vulture you get attacked online because he is a nice guy. He can be the greatest person in the world doesn’t mean he didn’t use our culture like a stepping stone. Edit: really appreciate hearing a white person calling this out too. Side note i AGREE with pretty much everything Tyler said. When he says "theres really aliens out here" that STRUCK HOME! Theres really people out here in Seattle that are SO DOPE but the city has only been recognized twice with macklemore and lil mosey in the last 15 years or so.... Im SURE Jeremy can understand that being a white man in hiphop requires a CONSISTANT level of RESPECT for a culture you are a guest to. Ive spent my whole life understanding and falling in love with this concept and to see somone like Ian getting attention makes me wanna puke.....

Look at d-why he use to rap now he does country rap and I hate how post always disrespects, rap, and hip-hop and act like he didn’t get his fame and money and everything from that culture genre lifestyle he got upset because he got pressured and rightfully so by Charlemagne and that made him look at hip-hop and Black people interviews and he likes to say I’ve never been hip-hop. I never been rapping, rapping, hip-hop or not genres who listen to if you wanna feel any type of promotion, listen to Bob Dylan is some little hipster dude who got rich off of Black people and act like he didn’t make his money and name off us

i'm just gonna say this isn't a white pivot foot thing in my eyes cuz to me as a black person all of this still goes back to hip hop being a black culture artform or as Kendrick put it it's a colonizer thing cuz that's what it comes off as and that's why Tyler speaking on it still goes back to the same sentiments as Kendrick and just to reiterate he wouldn't pop out at pop out for no reason if he didn't have the same or similar stance to Kendrick but then again it's prolly internet amnesia forgetting this man literally came out at the pop out and dancing and also was in the hillbillies video so let's just say the word that shouldn't be danced around: COLONIALISM you can say neo colonialism but let's just call it what it is say it with me it's COLONIALISM and prolly racism or whatever but it comes off wrong and rubs the culture wrong cuz it feels like black face with Ian in my eyes personally and also this isn't complex if you think about it: it's ppl not respecting culture for what it is cuz hip hop is at the point where it got the elvis treatment with jazz and yes the internet complicates it but regardless i appreciate you taking time with your words and choosing it carefully jeremy

That's a pretty racist way of looking at it. Should we shun Tyler from making pop music just because he's black? Art is a form of expression and shouldn't have any limitations on it. If the result is good, and people like it, let the creatives create.

This isn't new. Every genre of music Bl@ck people have created has always had culture vultures taking from it and then moving on when they want to be embraced by the whyte mainstream again. And for the majority of culture vultures there's always a small pocket of whyte artists who are the opposite. The ole appropriator versus appreciator dynamic.
@veiledrecalcitrance4314
@veiledrecalcitrance4314 Месяц назад
This is obviously a problem of low key racism. Most hip hop fans are white these days (not all white fans feel that way though, there’s obviously some people who aren’t racist) and it clearly is a situation of liking the music but preferring a white artist over a black artist, so when a white artist switches genres the fans go (even subconsciously)”oh, yeah, well, they’re more in their lane now anyways, they get a pass” and just allow it. Now those same fans are basically locking a black artist into what they think is “black music” and shouldn’t try anything else. I don’t know how well I explained what I mean, but there is a lot of low key, under the surface, racism in this country and a lot of the fans aren’t living a hip hop lifestyle, they just like the music. Hell, I know white kids who may have just one black friend, but all they listen to is hip hop. I think it’s racism more than anything else

Personally I'm fine with artists 'Pivoting' to another genre. Pivot as many times as you want. The issue I see is a lot of these white artists pivot but talk down on HipHop as they leave, like it's a lesser artform. That is the main problem. It's shows a colonizer mentality. They come and TAKE, then crap on the very artform that brought them attention and dollars.

I find it ironic that Tyler is the one speaking out about a younger artist having fun and clearly not taking his music too seriously. Tyler is officially OLD. When he came out, his breakout song was him, (his words NOT mine), making fun of New York Rap and Lyrical Spiritual Raps. That’s why it’s called Yonkers. It was making fun of NY Rap beats and lyrical miracle raps. He was having fun. He then did interviews making fun of veterans claiming that he’s having fun and that they are being OLD heads because they disprove. Look At Him NOW Hating on this lil WhiteBoy making music that’s fun for him. Tyler’s OLD dawg.

@mizuko6132 Месяц назад
He actually sat down composed all the beats. Wrote everything he rapped. Arranged all the music. You can’t compare a white boy rapping about nothing to a person who did all of that alone. And Yonkers was made as a joke song in the sense of when people make stuff they test different styles etc. he was essentially bringing up the he didn’t try to make a hit. He made a throwaway song that became a hit. But he wasn’t disrespectful of the style of music. Yonkers made hip hop blogs take Tyler as a rapper seriously. That’s how good his imitation was.
