I pictured a rainbow You held it in your hands I had flashes But you saw the plan I wandered out in the world for years While you just stayed in your room I saw the crescent You saw the whole of the moon The whole of the moon Hmm, you were there in the turnstiles, with the wind at your heels You stretched for the stars and you know how it feels to reach too high Too far Too soon You saw the whole of the moon I was grounded While you filled the skies I was dumbfounded by truth You cut through lies I saw the rain dirty valley You saw Brigadoon I saw the crescent You saw the whole of the moon I spoke about wings You just flew I wondered, I guessed and I tried You just knew I sighed But you swooned, I saw the crescent You saw the whole of the moon The whole of the moon with a torch in your pocket and the wind at your heels You climbed on the ladder and you know how it feels to get too high Too far Too soon You saw the whole of the moon The whole of the moon, hey yeah! Unicorns and cannonballs, palaces and piers Trumpets, towers and tenements Wide oceans full of tears Flags, rags ferryboats Scimitars and scarves Every precious dream and vision Underneath the stars, yes, you climbed on the ladder With the wind in your sails You came like a comet Blazing your trail too high Too far Too soon You saw the whole of the moon
Hey Jamie. Thanks for the feedback! So the tuning is Drop D (i.e. tune the bass E string down to a D) and the chords we use are A, Amaj7, D , D with G# ( i.e. D chord but with 1st fret on G string). If this isn't clear just email us at thesmallhoursdublin@gmail.com or on facebook at thesmallhoursdublin and I'll try and explain it better there! Thanks again..
@@thesmallhoursdublinSo i just have to tell you now 4 years later. I got married last night and we did use your song and it was absolutely perfect!❤️ Thank you so much !
I was was searching this song because it's a song from a fallow service man I found your cover and its blooming amazing. Yes its 11 years ago but to me this is just spectacular. My name e is Neil a with the 1st Para regiment and o leave and was reminiscing life and time with a beer. You guys are awesome and am loving the song.... Brilliant guys..... Thank You
I watch acoustic shows very often, and play covers myself. It's hands down the best cover version of this song I ever hear. Simple, passionate, inspiring. Amazing Work. You have a new follower in Argentina. Congrats!
I've been a Waterboys fan since I was 14 my first gig was the Fishermans blues tour '89 and I have loved them ever since. However your cover was an absolute joy. Truly it was the best cover I've ever heard by a mile. Superb
Nice job, fellas. The B&W video works well. Keep up the good work. If you're ever doing a gig in Northern California, I'll make sure to be there. Otherwise, I'll try to see you in Dublin the next time I'm there. Sláinte!

So enjoyed this cover. Stripped to bare essentials: audio acoustic and video b/w, you brought focus to the song unlike other covers which try (too hard) to create something new but lose the essence. Well done, gents *huge thumbs up*
Thanks Paul! Yeah the harp's in the key of D (major diatonic). To start, draw on the 4th (-4) to get an E note, then blow on the 4th to get a D note... In full it's as follows: -4 4 -3, -3 4 -3 -4 4 -3 -3 -3 3 2 -1 I hope that helps!
@@thesmallhoursdublin Thanks for the reply. I got it 5 minutes after I sent this message, lol. You’re a good duo, love your version . Want to see/hear more stuff 👍
