Wicked Recorded Live on April 19, 2015 In Brisbane, Queensland, Australia Veja a versão em português desta canção no site Musical em Bom Português www.musicalemb...
It never fails to give me chills whenever Nessa sings “The WICKED WITCH OOOOOOFFFF THE EAAASSSST” especially whenever the actress gives a little growl on the “wicked” part.
I am so gutted this song was never recorded. I really want them to do a live album so that this song can finally have a proper release. I remember being so frustrated when I found out their reasoning(s) for not including it in the first place because none of the reasons were acceptable to me...I mean that my opinion is the most important in the world...but it's such a good song and their reasons for cutting it are just stupid in my opinion.
So is the person who plays Boq. He's my favourite Boq that I've heard so far, and the person who plays Nessa is amazing too. Their acting and voices complement each other nicely
I always thought there was something fishy about their reasoning for not including this song. Maybe not fishy, but like they were just lazy or made a dumb decision and realized it too late. Dancing through life has plenty of dialogue, and plenty of other songs give away a lot of the plot. Why couldn't this song where Nessa finally has most of the song to herself get a spot?
@@derckjansmits9159 And so is the rest of the soundtrack????? It's weird reasoning when just about every other piece of plot and exposition is given away in the soundtrack.
In the video (Wicked Witch of The East, Bro) I think he was talking about Galinda. Because he said that she came down in a bubble. And when in actuality, Galinda was the Witch of the North. While Nessarose was the Wicked Witch of the East.
I love a villain song, and although this has a lot going on, the various chanting plus Nessa overall, it's SO GOOD. Really mad not to get an official version with or without all the dialogue.
I adore this song so much. I wish they didnt strip the song down that much. The workshop version had more lyrics. Some are kinda unnecessary so I understand why they cut them but some are soo good. Also dont understand why this version isnt on the soundtrack. 'March of the witchhunter' is also a big spoiler but got officially released?
Lyrics: (NESSAROSE, spoken) And why should I help you? You fly around Oz trying to rescue animals you've never even met! And not once have you ever thought to use your powers to rescue me! All of my life, I've depended on you! (sung) How do you think that feels? All of my life, I've depended on you And this hideous chair with wheels Scrounging for scraps of pity to pick up And longing to kick up my heels [ELPHABA, spoken] Nessa, there isn't a spell for everything The... the power is mysterious, it's not like cobbling up a pair of... wait! (sung) Ambulahn Dare Pahto Pahpoot [NESSAROSE, spoken] What are you doing? [ELPHABA, sung] Ambulahn Dasca Caldapess [NESSAROSE, spoken] What does that mean? [ELPHABA, sung] Lahfenahto Lahfenahtum Pede Pede Caldapess Ambulahn Dare Pahto Pahpoot Lahfenahto Lahfenahtum Pede Pede Caldapess [NESSA, as Elphaba chants] Oh! My shoes! They feel like they're on fire! What have you done to my shoes? [Nessa attempts so stand, then falls down] No! No, don't help me [She tries again and successfully stands] [ELPHABA, spoken] Oh Nessa, at last! (sung) I've done what long ago I should And finally from these powers something good... Finally something good [NESSAROSE, spoken] Boq! Boq, come quickly! [BOQ, spoken] You did this for her? [NESSAROSE, spoken] For both of us! [BOQ, spoken] Oh Nessa... this changes everything [NESSAROSE, spoken] I know [BOQ, spoken] Nessa [NESSAROSE, spoken] Yes? [BOQ, sung] Oh, Nessa... Surely now I'll matter less to you You won't mind me leaving here tonight [NESSAROSE, spoken] Leaving? [BOQ, sung] Yes That ball that's being staged Announcing Glinda is engaged To Fiyero [NESSAROSE, spoken] Glinda? [BOQ, sung] Yes Nessa, that's right I've got to go appeal to her Express the way I feel for her (spoken) Nessa, I lost my heart to Glinda from the moment I first saw her. You know that [NESSAROSE, spoken] Lost your heart? (sung) Well, we'll see about that [ELPHABA, spoken] Nessa, let him go [NESSAROSE, sung] Did you think I'd let you leave me here flat? [BOQ, spoken] Don't come any closer! [NESSAROSE, sung] You're going to lose your heart to me, I tell you! If I have, I have to... magic spell you Ah... Tum... Core... Tum... Ah... Tum... Tah... Tayk- [ELPHABA (as Nessa chants)] Nessa, no, it's dangerous... [BOQ] What's she doing? [ELPHABA] You're pronouncing the words all wrong... [BOQ] I'm warning you! Don't try to stop me! Oh! [ELPHABA] Oh no... Nessa! [NESSA (stops chanting)] Boq, what is it? [BOQ] My heart... it feels... it feels like it's shrinking! [NESSA] Oh, Elphaba, do something! [ELPHABA] I can't. You can't reverse a spell once it's been cast [NESSA, spoken] Then what do we do?! This is all your fault! If you had not shown me that horrenible book [ELPHABA, spoken] I've got to find another spell. It's the only thing that might work [NESSA, sung] Save him please, just save him My poor Boq, my sweet, my brave him Don't leave me 'til my sorry life has ceased [ELPHABA begins chanting in melody] [NESSAROSE, sung] Alone and loveless here Just the girl in the mirror Just her and me, Wicked Witch of the East! We deserve each other!
@Zachary Khan yes he references it, but if you just listen to the soundtrack you wouldn't have know it was Boq, they could've just have thrown Tin Man in there since in Wizard of Oz, the Wicked Witch put a spell on his axe and it kept chopping off his body parts so he kept on getting new body parts made of tin eventually becoming the Tin Man, so yes it's due to her he is made of tin in both story lines.
This is kind of a weird take because it hasn’t ever been done before to my knowledge, but I think they should make an animated movie of Wicked. A lot of animated musicals have been turned into Broadway shows but not the other way around. Musicals work really well as animated movies and I’d personally rather see a really cool animated version of all the Ozian magic than a really CGI-heavy live-action movie. That being said, here’s how I would voice-cast that movie (although this would probably work just as well for live-action): Elphaba- Barrett Wilbert Weed Fiyero- Jordan Fisher Nessa- Eva Noblezada Boq- Ben Platt Wizard- Martin Short Madame Morrible- Loretta Devine and introducing Katherine Steele as Glinda

thing is - I actually don't think she was THAT spoilt! Nessa always had a support system in place for her, and she was never alone. When she was at home, she had frex, when she was at school, she had Elphaba. Elphaba was literally sent to school to look after Nessa. Nessa always had this constant support and emotional reliance upon someone. Then Boq came along and FINALLY Nessa felt this sense of freedom, this sense of independence. Boq led Nessa on for what we can only assume is years. He continuously lied to her and acted as her support system when in actual fact, the support wasn't reciprocated like it had been before, with Frex and with Elphaba. Imagine the one person you had been with for years, suddenly tells you they don't actually care about you, and instead have had feelings for someone they haven't seen since high school. You'd be crushed. She then comes to the realization that really, even her own sister doesn't think about her, and instead cares more about others she has never met, than her actual family. So Nessa is crushed by this realization that she has no one. no one is there for her because her father is dead, Elphaba is gone, and Boq has left to go purse Glinda. She's so alone for the first time in her life. shes got no one to lean back on, no one to care for and no one to support her. Elphaba also changes the colour of the slippers her father gave her, which is a small detail, but I think it's significant that really it's all Nessa has left to remember her Father. Just like Elphaba wants the shoes to remember Nessa, Nessa wants them to remember her father. She has LITERALLY nothing and no one left. I think she was spoilt, but i think people overestimate how easy her life actually was.
I felt so bad for Elphaba, she loved her sister even when her father favored her more and she was the only person besides Glinda she could turn to. But because of a mistake that SHE made just to keep a man she wanted when he was in love with Glinda she will willing to throw her sister under the bus just to save her own butt
I think Schwartz kept this out because it reveals a important part in the story. And I'm sorry to everyone who preformed in this recording, everyone is emotionless.
Anyways I love this song a little too much and for a long time I’ve never known this existed because it’s not on the soundtrack. Also, it’s been 20 years since the soundtrack release (and the musical), I don’t think the spoilers matter that much anymore after such a long time

HI!! I just wanted to ask for your permission if I could use your recording for a lyric video of this song that I'm planning to make? I'm making lyric videos for all the songs in the musical but I couldn't find an official recording for this one
