The WiiU is an amazing system it's a real shame what happened to it, but its definitely worth revisiting in 2024 - easy upgrades, easy to soft mod and that opens up WiiU shop again for downloading games and dlc again - great video and awesome setup!
Just wrote this above but will quote it since I guess you're knowledgable (?): JUST got my first Wii U for what I consider a decent price at about 80USD current exchange (3 games (4 with Mario Kart on it), Wii controller extra, tablet and console in good condition). Haven't gotten it in my hands yet, lying in wait at the post office, but now to mod it probably. Any ideas on how/where to start? Not super good at soldering but dk if that's even needed (?). Edit: oh and actually got it mainly because I wanted to play portable GC (may get a proper emulation handheld in the future but not for now) but... Good games that are still exclusively tied to Wii U? Soft modding good enough (I have not looked into the modding scene at all)? I want to play GC-Wii U games and preferably be able to do so in... erherrm... less than legal ways rather than forking up silly money (I do have a GC library but for ease of use and comfort it'd be cool if able to play the roms instead). 😉
@SicketMog no need to open the console just need an SD card and a way to get files onto that SD card, this will open up everything you want, however GC I think you will need to download isos I don't believe there is a way for the wiiu to read GC disk but I could be wrong ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-zagaL_OZaL8.htmlsi=ACVzQfVRaWFn-rPz
Great video the wii u is amazing console very underrated i love the wii u great games like twilight princess hd and Mario kart 8 and super Mario maker and xenoblade Chronicles x ninja Gaiden 3 razors edge
You just made me reconsider selling my WiiU 😅, I was going to keep the GameCube and ditch the WiiU Because the switch for me, took over everything I’d usually play (smash, Zelda)
Don't forget it is fairly easy to mod which will save your disc drive from wear and tear plus you will be able to play games from various consoles as well.

honestly thank goodness i saw this video i didnt even consider buying a new battery. i’ve been playing my Wii U a lot lately and 45 minutes before it goes Red isn’t enough 😭😭
I bought a battery off on Amazon in 2019 from the brand Other Future... still holds a full charge and lasts 4-5 hours. I had bought one on Amazon from another company before that, and that battery was D.O.A. So, chances will have to be taken. Good luck.
The WiiU is pretty amazing, it sucks that they very much mishandled it. Native leftover compatibility with GC games? Never used. Emulators for VC? Largely kinda bad for some reason. Marketing? Let's not even talk about that. And now there actually is little reason to get it outside of like...fanmade restorations for online functions(Miiverse rules), the few games they did not port over and minor potatoes like the touchscreen levels they removed in the NSMBU-port. 8:35 Of note being that one kinda needs homebrew and the high seas to still get the best experience on this. Of course, the online features that will shut down next month(though it will take a longer time still for fans to restore them), but also that playing it in physical standalone has long loading times, so it is recommended to either get the digital version...that is no longer available...or the free datapack-DLCs that kinda work like the "install data"-feature on some playstation games. Which are also no longer available. That is actually why people wanted it to be ported to Switch, and now want it to be ported to the upcoming Switch 2. Even many WiiU owners(like me) skipped out on it when we really should have gotten it and now it's not exactly a great time anymore to start playing.
Family just gave me a switch as a gift. 1st Nintendo console I had not purchased since 1986, mostly as, exactly what you stated: I already have most of the best games that look about as good on the Wii U as Switch. I did just buy Tears of the Kingdom. Mario Odyssey is next.
The cool thing is that the Wiiu can natively play all three versions of TP and both versions of Wind Waker(though the GC versions require homebrew sadly.)
@@thedigitaldivide3958i had the Wii u since release There was a high capacity battery 2500 something I have it though pretty worn For used all these years Its still seems possible buy one without box from reseller on eBay new item
Hello friend, could you ask me a question? I bought a locked Wii U with 3 original games, if I do a factory reset will it brick it? And if I keep it connected to the internet and update the original games, can it brick too? Thanks!
I bought one on eBay that had a parental control lock on it. Could not use it until I found the 4 digit code. How did I get it? I started at 0000, 0001…and so on. 7049 was the code to unlock it.
For any wanting to play StarFox listen carefully, don't play the main story first. Go to training mode and spend about two hours learning the controls, because the motion controls are kinda complicated. There's a minus button that swap screens and you have the ability to turn the motion controls on or off in the pause menu. It's easier to shoot everyone in first person mode, where as all ranged mode is easier for avoiding enemies.
Just as a side note, the content you get in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe makes it an entirely different game, so if you can only choose onw go for that one. Breath of the Wild is the same on both consoles, and as for Mario 3D Land the Wii U version is an amazing way to experience it but the Switch version is far better thanks to the Bowser's Fury and the fact that the slowest character in the Switch version is faster than the fastest character in the Wii U version.
So Mario Kart for the Wii U has almost all of the same DLC- not all, but a lot, including Link and Hyrule castle. Does the Switch version come with all of those new tracks and characters in the base game or are they still paid? I honestly don’t remember.
@@thedigitaldivide3958 all the DLC for Mario Kart 8 is included in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe base game, and then there's a $25 DLC that adds 48 more tracks and a few extra characters that is exclusive to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe on the Switch.
4:20 mk8 is not really the same game. there is extra dlc that you cant buy on the wii u. 4:50 again 3d world has dlc that the wii u doesnt have. the new super mario bros games like luigi u are ported with nothing new, and i would use that as an example instead of those two games. and you loose the touchscreen on the switch (for placing blocks in nsmb u), so its actually slightly worse than the wii u original. botw has the same number of dlc on both systems. i understand your point though and you are right. 🙂♥
If you mod the console it's super easy to get the DLC on Wii U still, but they were probably talking about the Booster Pass which doubles the number of tracks in the Switch version from 48 to 96. @@thedigitaldivide3958
