I keep getting asked what design software I use and didn't have a good answer up to now. I have been using obsolete programs and trying Fusion, Free Cad, and several others the last couple years. Fusion 360 scared me when they ended the free version and I lost everything stored on their cloud so I definitely wanted a local version. Well the one I finally purchased is Alibre Atom and it is a lifetime license. I also bought the Meshcam package for my CNC router instead of going with Vcarve along with a year of updates and support. This is a quick look using it for my next wood project and how simple it is to use. There is a free trial you may want to try if it looks like it will work for you. It seems to be the best option available that is affordable and will work great for home use. The Artom version has some limits but is well worth the price. Really surprised that I don’t see more people using it. Thanks for watching.

I use solidworks at work. This looks pretty similar. For a home shop. How much is the version you have without cam?

I used Solid works, Catia, and Solid edge for 20 years and this is very simular to them. The plain version is on sale now for $150 for a permanent licensed seat of the Atom version. The full blown version is a lot more. I also bought the 1 year upgrade option for $50. They have everything listed on their homepage. Thanks for watching.

Alibre is great software. I use Solidworks at work everyday. I can’t do everything in Alibre I can do in SW. The work flow may be a little different but it works. Glad you are liking Alibre.

I tried Vcarve about a year ago and it was just to confusing for me. This reminds me of a striped down Solid Works that I am very comfortable with. Still have to spend some time setting up the mesh cam for the router. Thanks for watching.

I started my career on a drawing board back in 72 but one little change could mean erasing and changing hundreds of drawings. This makes it easy. Thanks for watching.

I tried several CAD applications and I also settled on Alibre Atom. So far I have been very happy with it and I also use it to create projects on my CNC router, 3D printer, and CO2 laser.
