Seriously - at least the trio that was turned into stones isn't _conscious._ If they wake up, it'll be like waking up from sleeping. Meanwhile Opaline is going to die of thirst at best, or be immortal in there forever at worst.
Opaline simply let herself be carried away by her own discord and never tried to get close enough to the Alicorn sisters to become their friends. She and Celestia are so similar but while Opaline only saw her attribute as a form of power and domination Celestia saw her flames as a way to give life and warmth to defenseless ponies. She surely tried to explain but Opaline didn't listen, closing herself off and seeing herself as the victim of everything. This great ego made her destroy Celestia's work and consequently Twilight's, but she was defeated by forces that she doesn't have the head to understand. Opaline has now reaped what she sowed, the tree of harmony took away her cutie mark and her power. If she already suffered a perpetual confinement in her tower now she is much worse than before. And being an immortal Alicorn she is in a living hell.
Knowing how twisted Opaline’s concept of friendship was, she likely never wanted to be genuine friends with them but rather use their “friendship” as a means of getting noticed since Luna and Celestia were the golden girls back on Skyros. Basically the equivalent of someone wanting to be friends with cool kids at school so they themselves can climb up the social later. It’s consistent with her character when you realize all the people she considers “friends” were just ponies and creatures she used and manipulated and would be willing to toss them aside when they no longer served any purpose.
Opaline uses the light as a metaphor for attention and glory yet ironically enough, light itself is always fleeting as eventually even stars burn out. She had her fleeting moment of triumph only be left alone in the dark.
If only she was shown guidance and love, things could have been a lot more different. Also that fight scene reminded me a little bit of the "lullaby for a princess".
I’m kinda 50/50 with Opaline getting what was coming to her. She didn’t try to get close to Celestia and Luna to become their friends, especially after almost burning down someplace, let herself be consumed by jealousy and hate and yeah, she went unchallenged for awhile, but her actions eventually came back to bite her. Now she’s trapped in a tree left to think about what she’s done to get to this point. In short, I feel bad for her, but not in the pitiful way, more like “you got what you deserved and now look where you are” kind of. Though, I will say, being trapped inside of a magic tree is probably just as bad if not worse than being turned to stone in my opinion. Because Opaline IS an alicorn, so unless she find a way out of there, she’s basically left with her thoughts and her cutie mark to think about her actions for the rest of her life.
In pursuit of power, when you deem no cost too great, you'll find yourself paying for it more than you ever thought possible. Opaline got burnt in the fires of her own ambition, and now, she only has the consequences of her actions to keep her company. ...I kinda want to hug evilbutt here >.>
This actually is very sad, Misty and Sunny tried reaching out to Opaline, but she never listens. I dont know if this my heavy sympathy talking but I actually hope she returns. She may have deserved to be defeated but maybe she needs to think what she's done. Worked for Tai Lung when he was defeated.
Once again, Makaryo, you continue to blow me away with your incredible animations. It really lends a lot of additional context to Opaline’s backstory, and I just LOVED that fight scene between her and Twilight. As others have said, it seems very Lullaby For A Princess-inspired, and if that was your intention with it, that was an excellent homage. What else can I say other than keep up the awesome work. This kind of stuff is exactly what our community needs right now, and really shows the power of G5’s story. I will never not be impressed by the work you do. :) P.S: Is it wrong that I feel kinda bad for Opaline here, the way you depict her imprisonment in the Together Tree? I always assumed she just became fused with the Tree itself when it grew, but imagining her actually inside it, trying to get out, but never being able to? Dang, that’s a fate worse than death.
Will she return? Will she try to do revenge? Opaline was . . . A silly villian with a suspicious back story. If we meet her again someday, I hope we can meet her as a friend, Not a fiend.
She's the most wasted potential among villains. Literally the oldest one who knows the backstory of how Equestria was made and knew Luna and Celestia before G4 started. She should had been the last final boss in G4 as she had more gravitas than Grogar or Pony of Shadows, especially since she ACTUALLY succeed in destroying G4 Equestria.
I wish we get more backstory to her life at the time she was living in Skyros before she left and went to live in Equisteria. What were her motivations to want to rule equisteria. Was it to prove to herself and all the other Alicorns back home that she can be just as capable as Celestia, or she was viewed by her fellow Alicorn as a commoner and Celestian and Luna were the golden girls at her day. Who knows what sparked her interest at that time at her youth.
Opaline is a great villain in my opinion. A little flawed but overall great. She vile, cruel and most of all irredeemable. If she ever comes back, I hope she comes back stronger than ever.
It’s not so much her character that people don’t like, it’s just the way she is shoehorned into the story of G4 without any prior appearances. And yet the writers just expect us to go along with it.
I see what you mean. In a show about friendship, seeing a villain like Opaline is like a reality check for Twilight; sometimes, friendship isn’t enough.
@@SillyDartPony It honestly depends on the villain; unfortunately, this means that nothing is enough sometimes, like with Opaline, and you have to defeat the villain one way or another, even if it means killing the villain. I know it’s morbid, but things like that happen in real life. Take the police and SWAT team in standoffs for instance; they do try to talk the suspects out of it, but if the suspect in question has a weapon and is actively trying to hurt them or others, then they do have to take drastic measures.
THE LULLABY FOR A PRINCESS REFERENCE AAAAAA🤩🤩 And everything about this, from the storyline and song choice, to the dialogues and 2d animation. Its giving such a nostalgic feel, kinda like what i feel after watching a disney movie🥹 Eitherway, keep up the wonderful and gorgeous work!
The mlp community is gettin stronger, every time I see soenthing incredible like this. I still prefer G4. But G5 fans are getting more impressive like this. ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
Nice animation, the sequence 3.00-3.60 is very interesting and something that could actually be canon, because we know from the IDW covers when the Discord arc was underway, that Twilight had fought an unknown opponent and was about to lose. Right up until the end of MYM, when Opaline had stolen the dragons' magic, no one was able to believe that the fire alicorn could become a fearsome opponent. As soon as Opaline was strong enough, she had become a very serious threat on the same level as Tirek. The only way for Twilight to defeat Opaline was to use the Unity Crystals that Opaline had ironically helped bring about when she had sown magical chaos among the ponies before the first attack. It is canon that she was the first pony to have her magic taken by the Unity Crystals. But Twilight failed to capture Opaline who managed to escape despite the loss of her magic. And the aforementioned sequence showed that the final showdown between Twilight and Opaline may have happened in Zephyr Heights rather than Canterlot. An alicorn is immortal, we just don't know what kind of immortality it is, is it only against aging or against all possible death scenarios? Their immortality is possibly because they can be immune to the effects of time even though they "age" very slowly. Opaline was trapped in the Together tree which seemed to pull her down into the underground, along with her cutie mark which prevents her from using her talent - and elemental magic based on fire. Now she is in a prison - once again. For many centuries she had isolated herself in the dark castle without being able to get away because she needed the together tree in the castle for some unknown reason. But this time she is trapped with no way to escape. Opaline might show up in future G5, because I don't think she's gone for good. The question is - will she learn from it?
That ending, she maybe dying by suffocation soon. All it remains in that tree, even if destroyed by the critters that caused her castle to collapse, it'll be her skeleton.
Opaline is seriously an underrated villain like I can get sometimes she’s dumb when it comes to her plan but she has a good backstory being drawn up all that is left is misty to see that and help opaline join the side of good and have a redemption we known she was alone for thousands of moons so it’s understandable why she grew so bitter and distrusting over time 😢
Another spectacular and phenomenal animation as usual Maka, I absolutely loved every second of it! Everyone did such a marvelous and fantastic job bringing this masterpiece to life make no mistake about it, Truly outstanding work guys!!!
I have an idea for your next project. How about a video of Allura taking control of the mane 6 and Comet saves them, as they save him from her before? I think it would be a nice way for comet to return the favor.
Very smooth animation. I really enjoyed this song. Everyone involved did a fantastic job. Keep up the good work. Have a wonderful day Makaryo & Friend’s.
The parallels between Celestia and Luna And Twilight and Opaline here But instead of banishing Opaline to the moon, Twilight banished magic itself I love that kind of story
I live the animation and how the beginning uses a fire as a representation of what Opaline feels. It's definitely interesting and i love how history repeats itself and Twilight uses the crystals as celestia had used the harmony gems. 😭😭 so beautiful! What if Opaline was also the cause of skyros falling?
Hope you make a fan made episode about opaline and her past and the battel with opaline and twilight and how twilight made the bubble around equestria and opaline being send away from the land all alone that be so cool and feel for opaline more as well and cute video. Spike being part way with twilight be sad part I think
I really do hope that Opaline is reflecting this time whilst being traped in the tree of harmony. Since she is an Alicorn, and technically speaking she is immortal, she would feel prety tired at this point because this would be her third attempt to rule over equisteria and failed i am assuming. Think about, after her second attempt to take over by fighting to Twilight and lost and then being imprisond for centuries who knows in her castle, she would feel prety miserable living there all alone, having nothing but her desire to try again once magic returns. I know she is supposedly a villain in this generation of MLP, but if Hasbro wanted to have more depth in her character then she should be view also as a tragic character who has ambitions to be someone great or become a rival to Celestia, but she is going about it the wrong way. Celestia didnt use brute force and other means to dominate and control others into accepting her as their ruler, but took alot of learning from her teacher Merlin and years of learning diplomacy and peaceful negotiation skills to win them over not by domination. Sigh if she does somehow set free from the tree, i hope she gets some help and re-think about her life choices upto this point because all she is doing is hurting herself.
To be honest I thought the tree also tied her up and she’s was left in a cocoon in the tree and I always thought it was like eternal resting where she isn’t even awake until someone breaks the “curse?” But I still loved this though
I don't like G5, but your videos make me want to watch it. I just don't understand the lore and I wanna know more about it, but I'm almost 100% sure I'm gonna be disappointed. Dang it, Makaryo. Not to offend G5 fans. It's just me and my opinion about this show, you do you
