I love seeing all of the different versions of the Rider Waite. I don't like the original plaid backs, but I think the red and green plaid on the original is so cute! Looks like wrapping paper. Thanks for showing these Simon!
I think revised is much more in keeping with the christmassy theme, all the Christmas colors and more natural colors of cold winter sky you can almost feel🌬❄ Look at it in dead summer heat to reminisce about cold weather. Thanks once again for excellent walkthrough 👍
Both the decks are stunning but I must admit, the revised winter did it for me. I'm originally from the UK and I just remember snow & making a snow man so these images brought back a nostalgic rememberance (like the 6 of cups). I am now adding this deck to my 'must have' decks. As usual thanks for sharing the side by side, you always seem to bring out the magic in each deck.
Okay. I’m convinced. Not even halfway through. This is too adorable. Christmas is my favorite season. I took a look at their site. I also want the Dead Waite Apocalypse edition and the Twisted Tails and expansion. Just this one for now. Today is the last day to order according to the site. @@the_hermits_cave I sure did! Watching the side by side also gave me an appreciation for their attention to detail. Something about it takes me back to the old Christmas animated shows I looked forward to every year when I was a kid. And the beauty in the backgrounds and the night skies and all the stars. It’s gorgeous.
Christmas is the hardest time of year for me (trauma survivor and natal 7 of wands decan girl ) so I might order myself a deck to use next Christmas as part of my self care. Thanks for the flip through.
I don’t have either of these decks but I do like them. I think I prefer the revised version to the previous one, I definitely like the more traditional image for The Chariot in the revised edition. Lovely deck 😍❤️
Love the edging on the Groovy Deck. I'm going to try and get the Tripping Deck and edge it in day-glo marker. I'm edging many of my decks now, thanks to you. I have oodles of markers now.
The backs make me think of flannel pajamas. I love the blue plaid! The new deck makes me think more of winter nights whereas the old one is more daylight images. They probably should've changed the deck name in order to avoiding any ordering confusion. I am tempted! Maybe next year if they're still around. (I do like a deck without labels, but think I like the new coloring better).
I think if they had completely changed the name they may have been criticise, as the images are more or less the same just with different colouration 🙏🏼
Great video Simon. I wish I had this revised deck; but missed it. Hopefully there will be a new one next year. I prefer this revised one not only because of the inclusion of the names of the cards, but I prefer the artwork in several of the cards, like the chariot, etc. Thanks as always for your videos which are always so well done and thorough.💜🙏🏼💜

I literally just got the original winter waite in the mail yesterday and today found your walk through ❤. I was so thankful, this has helped me greatly and to me, it looks like the extra card of the kids building a snownan might be a spare 3 of pentacles because there are 3 pentacles on the snowman and the children are working together to create him. I'm using it as such and took out the more traditional 3 of pentacles. Not sure why but it's a bit creepy with the 2 people who have animal masks over their heads lol.

I have the original and love it. Winter is long and cold enough that I tend to use more warming decks during this time. I use this deck a lot during dog days of summer when heat is oppressive. (Psychological, I know) I have the majority of tarot collectibles decks.
I've been looking for a XMAS deck. That revised winter deck will due just fine. I have the Halloween Tarot deck and I love it. I think I'm going to design an Easter deck, with lots of bunnies of course (love rabbits) and decorated eggs and baskets. Been wanting to do a deck for awhile.

It seems like the backings of the cards should be reversed. The first deck has a lot of pinks and would look better with the backs of the revised cards, and the revised has less/no pink, more red and green, and would look better with the red/green backs. Just sayin'. Thanks for showing I didn't even know these existed. Must get one for my winter readings!

Thank you for these comparisons and reviews - very helpful! I just received my Groovy Waite yesterday (chose that one based on your comparison video), and will be getting this Winter Waite soon. I’m an American 80s kid, and that Groovy Waite reminds me of Saturday morning cartoons and Soul Train, lol! I love Smokey, too! He was/is the mascot for forest fire prevention and safety.
