John Calvin Coolidge, Jr. (July 4, 1872 -- January 5, 1933) was the 30th President of the United States (1923--1929). A Republican lawyer from Vermont, Coolidge worked his way up the ladder of Massachusetts state politics, eventually becoming governor of that state. His actions during the Boston Police Strike of 1919 thrust him into the national spotlight. Soon after, he was elected as the 29th Vice President in 1920 and succeeded to the Presidency upon the sudden death of Warren G. Harding in 1923. Elected in his own right in 1924, he gained a reputation as a small-government conservative.

This man Calvin Coolidge is hugely under rated - FDR grossly overrated.

CC was the most under rated president of all time. He was a true Capitalist and as such a true American who stood for the ideals that this nation and the Founders intended it to be.

@Willredd94 I couldn't agree more. But as for who the "next Coolidge" might be, only time will tell. What I can say for sure, however, is that Calvin Coolidge is one of my favorite U.S. presidents. I find it laughable that some historians dismiss Coolidge as one of the "worst" presidents, but he was really a far better president than he was given credit for.
