There's a LOT of European hunter's stew recipes that start with the same base (chicken stock, aromatics, tomato paste). You can add more flavor by browning the base aromatics first (I'd use a soffrito mix: celery, carrots, onions, all diced small -- or switch the celery with bell peppers) before adding the tomato paste (cook them thoroughly!) then meats, stock, and finally vegs.

Bc a well seasoned stew with meat and vegetables kind of IS the best thing ever. This recipe may have been common knowledge in the past, and still be common in many families, but many other people have never been taught how to cook, and there are many USA gen z who have never had a homemade soup in their lives. I am lucky to have a mom who is a pretty good cook, but I actually still had never heard of this particular type of stew/soup before, because not every family knows every recipe. (My family in particular usually doesn’t do stews/soups, bc my dad dislikes most soups/stews, so until I started learning to cook for myself, I’d rarely ever eaten any soup, and I didn’t realize how awesome soup is). Tragically, even in the age of the information superhighway, families are losing generational knowledge as automation takes over opportunities to learn traditional techniques, and if people in “first world countries” don’t feel inspired to re-learn lost knowledge, we may stop making wholesome home cooked meals like this altogether. I applaud cooking influencers for preserving these recipes by teaching them to thousands of people, including me, so that we can pick techniques back up after our family has lost them. Personally I learned almost all of my cooking from the internet and a cooking class I took, including how to make “pasties”, which are a very simple British meat pastry. It’s in my heritage, because my British grandma used to make pasties all the time, but unfortunately she was not a good cook (bless her heart), so her recipe just doesn’t do pasties justice. I learned online to make better pasties and have made them a few times. (They’re delicious). This recipe here is completely new to me, and I’m definitely going to try it.

In Mexican culture we make something similar. It's called " Caldo de Res" translating to beef soup. Some people cook it sans tomato or with it. Though a lot of people cook the chicken one (Caldo de Pollo) for healthier reasons. I'm vegetarian, so I make a pure vegetable one. Coincidentally- turns out vegan.

Tip: past the "sell by date" is still ok to use for quite some time on most items; it doesn't mean automatically throw it out.
@Lostachilles
@Lostachilles 11 месяцев назад
@@jenninemorel7693the real tip is to know the difference between sell by, use by, and best before. Best before is effectively good forever, but flavour/consistency/quality will deteriorate over time. Just don't eat it if it went moldy. Sell by is just the date stores are allowed to legally sell up until. It could still be good, but also might go bad the next day. It's luck of the draw, so smell/taste test before consuming. Use by means you shouldn't use it beyond that date as that's the minimum safe length of storage time. These times are usually pretty accurate. Generally speaking, you should NOT use foods beyond their use by date as they can cause considerable harm through different kinds of food poisoning, which often results in hospitalisation or death.

Keto diet has killed so many of my patients for multiple organ failure. Be careful and it should only be temporary unless your Dr requires it for a certain condition.

@@gritmakaveliif you’re dying from multiple organ failure I’m sure it’s not bc of not eating bread/rice 😹😹

Where I live We usually put potatoes, carrots, sausage/meat, onion, Vegetable stew/Chicken Stew and other leftover vegetables. I don't put tomato in it because it changes the taste a lot and its honestly really good by itself. (Its also delicious when you dip bread with butter in it). This is honestly just a cheap, easy meal.

I'm not sure how an ordinary beef stew is a secret weightless recipe, but atleast you get a tasty meal out of it :)

But I suppose it does have all the important components, protein, micronutrients from the veggies and carbs

Reminds me of the "magic weight loss cabbage soup" craze we had in Europe a while ago, but this is seriously an upgrade, the European version was just vegetables and little else.
