WNBA as a whole is jealous and salty ASF...these women have spent years trying to get acceptance and loyal viewers for their league while Caitlin comes in and does it in about 20 games of her rookie season. Lol
hate this as I live near Chicago.. but honestly could have cared less about the WNBA until Clark.. and she is way more fun to watch.. Reese DOES get a lot of rebounds, but like you said, they are off her OWN missed shots LOL... Reese doesn't even compare to Clark in my opinion.. the hate on Clark is mind boggling!! Clark alone has increased the viewership of the WNBA by a ton and everyone stands to make more money due to CLARK... She has already earned ROTY as far as I'm concerned.. put more Fever games on TV in Chitown!!!
Take CC off the Fever, they're back to being near the bottom of the league. Take Reese off the Sky, they'd still be right about where they are. CC makes the players around her better. Like Magic used to and MJ use to.
If you are new to watching the WNBA because you're interested in CC then probably by now you know the names of several other great players in the WNBA that you didn't know about before. Cardoso, for instance, or Aja Wilson or Sabrina Ionescu. It's much like when Tiger Woods was a phenomenon. He brought viewers to the game who then learned about other golfers. The WNBA should be grateful that a superstar has arisen in their league. It benefits all. Michael Jordan didn't trash the NBA. He made it more popular. CC is doing the same thing. Don't be jealous. Enjoy the packed houses, media attention, increased viewership and ultimately better paychecks.
Reese is playing for herself, she's out there for her record ONLY. CC is playing for her team and the records take care of themselves. There is a world of difference between them, and Reese is still in high school in her attitude and maturity.
There is no skill in AG. She simply tall that all. Looked at rhe shot she made under the ring. Liked kid making shot CC is well rounded and high IQ in her game. And she indeed concerned more about her team winning tham her stat. While AG, stat first then her team.
I won't watch the FAKE EYELASHES, but I will always watch CC-22 anytime she hits A COURT, even if SHE LEAVES the WNBA... Reese pulled 4 (FOUR) rebounds in a row. Not one after the other I mean 4 at the same time. Lay up, miss then rebound, shot, miss, rebound, shot, miss rebound, shot miss, rebound. Four attempts to lay up from under the hoop!!! Nah....

Totally different playing styles. Paige Bueckers is more of the old guard play- MJ, Kobe, midrange with a 3-pt. Caitlin Clark is Stephen Curry with great vision and passing. About the fandom? Reese's rebounds have not translated into points and winning. Her team drafted her to score points first and foremost. The team needs her to score, she isn't, she is letting her team down and costing them wins. The Sky lost by two points to the Sun and by two points to the Aces. Angel scored a lousy 3 buckets against the Sun and only a lousy 4 buckets against the Aces. Her lack of making her shot go through the hoop is a major flaw. In fact you could say Reese was the reason the Sky lost the last two games. Reese is not clutch, is not reliable.

Reese has never been ROTY material, altho she has a bright future! She only averages 1.8 assists per game!? REBOUNDS affect possession........ASSISTS have produced point.
Sadly, CC could finish the season AVERAGING a trip-dub, and AR would STILL cry that she was conspired against; or play the race card; or claim some form of victimhood.
The biggest thing I notice is that Caitlin Clark's skills translates into elevating her whole team's play much like Magic Johnson and Steve Nash. Her assists and shooting often account to nearly 50% of her team's scores. Angel Reese's rebounding and often put backs of her own missed shots are not translating into elevated team play. It's just an individual stat line. I don't see how you can compare the two. No one else in the WNBA makes the kind of contribution to team play the way CC does. Even the greatest players like Sabrina Ionescu don"t have as many assists as CC. If CC keeps it up she should be a shoo in for ROTY.
Not to mention the flow of the game. The fevers offense runs through Clark but so does the other teams defense… she dictates the game. The other teams plan around CC, play with her at the top of their mind. AR is another decent big … they can take her for granted… no ones earnestly worried about her. AR may have a great night here or there and have an impact on a game but CC transforms the fever and the other team
Just watch Reese play! She's the clumsiest, most awkward player in the league! All she is able to do is grab rebounds! She misses wide-open layup after wide-open layup! She is the most overrated player ever to play in the WNBA and she should never even be mentioned in the ROTY conversation! That award belongs to Caitlin Clark and ONLY Caitlin Clark!
Reese does battle on the boards but her offense is absolutely horrible. It would be a joke and disgraceful to past winners for her to even be close to winning it!

When Reese is on the floor, concession sales have gone up 60% for 8 consecutive games. While reports shows food and beers stalls are merely empty when CC is on the floor. Seriously though, AR's is -13 today on the (+/-) stats. Turrible.
I wouldn't say she just gets her own rebounds. Sometimes she misses wide open layups, like today when she missed so badly she hit the bottom of the rim and ball came back and hit her in the face.

People talk about Clark's 3 point %, Reese is shooting 19% from 7 feet or over, and she isnt shooting all that great from 1 foot ... She cant perform basic basketball skills, layups, dribbling, jumping.... How does anyone get to this level and cant perform a layup? Or dribble?
ESPN mindlessly promotes their own favorites and Caitlin Clark is not their pick no matter what the scorecard says. After the Allstars beat team USA a post game woman announcer from ESPN referred twice tol Caitlin Clark's "entry level passes". What's an entry level pass? I see CC bounce pass, behind the back pass, a coast to coast pass and a no- look pass. All players perform these various passes based on the type needed at any given time. Entry level announcer.
It's not an agenda, it's drumming up interest. These Johhny come latelys to the WNBA are the worst. Kelsey Plum was CC before CC. Comparing Caitlin with Angel is like comparing a QB with an offensive/defensive lineman. What they do is different. As for comparing her to HOF Dennis Rodman, I'm sure she'll take that. Monica McNutt's rationale is a longtime standard foe gauging individual impact on winning. No conspiracy just objective analysis. CC is the ROY for me but I understand the counter rationale and opinions I hear. EX Magic won a title his rookie year and got only 3 ROY votes.

What keeps being ignored is CC's assists are because of her teammates. The buckets are finally being made at the end of her passes. Wouldn't be surprised to see her have games with 15+ assists after the Olympic break. Caitlin is raising the level of play of the other Fever players on the court.

They were down about 20 points and Reese got another double-double. MAY have let them come back some to not embarrass their fellow women so badly in front of their home crowd.

Since when did team standing ever played a role in the Rookie of the Year award? Last year's ROY Aaliyah Boston is on the one of the worst team in the W that's why they have the #1 overall pick this year and got CC. Wembenyama won ROY while being in one of the worst team in the NBA. Even Lebron won ROY when his team didn't even make the playoffs. Team standing doesn't affect ROY award since the best rookie will usually go to the worst team in the league. That's just how the draft works.
AR is above expectations. 22 is below, we will have to see but honesty who has even cared that much about rookie of the year. The fact that it is up for discussion shows how disappointing 22s year has been
Angel is an amazing player. I think her bullying opposing players has hurt her image. She's good enough without rough play. Caitlin is humble, never trashing other players and is a team player. She is a rare talent and a worthy role model..

There have been 31 triple-doubles in the WNBA. They are just rare for a rookie. The 15 double-doubles in a row by Reese broke the all-time record of 12 by all WNBA players and has stood for 15 years.. It's a big deal and not getting the press or recognition it deserves.
Not sure what you trying to say but just to clarify : 31 triple-doubles in the history of WNBA ! also you may want to know how many double-doubles are in the history of WNBA and that will be over 11000! Also no one makes the difference between double-double in points/rebounds (AR's DD) and a points/assists (Clark's DD) , points/ assists less common.
@@viform44 What I am saying is 15 double-doubles in a row has never even been approached by any WNBA player in the long history of the league and acting likes it's not a big deal is not giving proper weight to the accomplishment. Angel Reese and the Sky humiliated the league champion of last year last night and are within 1/2 game of the Fever and whoever comes out ahead there MAY have something to do with ROY and acting like the deal is already done can only jinx it.

@@liquidocelot6294 In Reese's 15 game record setting performance, the Sky are 6 - 9. During that same time, with all those massive turnovers, the Fever are 9-6. With Clark being the point guard, if she weren't that good, they wouldn't be winning. Oh, and Clark leads all guards in the W in rebounds. Reese is an awesome rebounder and, at times, brings championship level energy her team needs. But, watch her off the ball activity and you'll see she mostly stands around waiting for a shot to be put up. Until Reese learns how to contribute effort the entire time she's on the floor, she'll continue to be a contributing factor of why they're a sub-500 team.
