Hi, I'm from 18 and from Kerry. My father ran pubs in London for years before moving home. He told me about this night in such high esteem. He said he never felt more at home in London than this night. It's what makes us Irish great. Thanks a million for the upload
Me and my cousin hitch hiked to Glasgow (50 miles) in 1981(?) to see the Tones the first time ever in Scotland. It was about 2/3 full, but the next year it was packed out, the word had spread

The National was the place to be if you were Irish in London late eighties, early nineties. The Galty up the hill was for the country folk. Always made sure to keep your ticket for the sausage & chips served at the hatch on the left of the hall after the music We were all young and foolish and the Celtic tiger wasn't even a kitten.
