Bring back 1996 😢 Married for 10 years, sadly lost Trish in 2004 due to a sudden heart condition. My Wife was only 31years young 💝 R. I. P forever Patricia Maree
Still listening in 2024! I was fifteen in 1996... which makes this one incredibly relatable. Life was far more simple, at the beginning of the mass internet age. It was also a time where simple things could be enjoyed, and things weren't so complicated. There's little here to miss!!! Bring back 1996!!!
2011 - 1996 is a 15 year difference If they made a song like this in 2020 we would be reminiscing about the year 2005 Myspace, Emos and cans of monster
I think there's something specifically 1990s about this song that makes it impossible to transpose effectively. As much as anything else, it's about the insulating psychological effects of a specific kind of First World privilege that (imo thankfully) died with 9/11. The whole thing is a brutal, bitter deconstruction of '90s nostalgia and what (and WHO!) it conveniently leaves out, from "though war was breaking out all around me, my concerns were with prank calls" to a teen party full of blatant, oblivious wasting of vital resources (using water as a visible stand in).
Fuck you, you selfish wee fool you have a family who you don't appreciate. your life is all you need and every needed life is so easy it's just a game people take too seriously well not me. I am a self made millionaire and what I realized in life is it's just a piss take, so piss take it back take chances investing in property buy a shop take chances and if you really don't give a fuck what lies ahead. anything is possible fuck face and think what you want of my speech because As I said I am the self made millionaire 10times over. Ilost it all 2 years ago just for a laugh and show people how easy it is to be a millionaire and make it in life if you don't give a piss what people think of you and your self believe is second to none forget the rest once again self made millionaire you little fool so fuck off make some money and then you can get it right up every doubtful person who doubted you sort it out make life easier for yourself by not giving a fuck what people think about you, and remember you are a waste of space and if you can't make money in life then ill make money on you by recycling your face with a hammer freak show. say something cheeky about me and I will go through your door and punch your mums head in don't mess around sort it out freak show
3+ months ago I fell in love with this band watching this video. Back then I never would've thought I'd 1. Love them as much as I do. Their music is amazing and 2. Meet them and have the chance to talk to them. If there's any band that deserves support and recognition, it's them. I can't ever repay them for having them making me feel so great at Bumbershoot--so I'll just say it everywhere and anywhere: they are incredibly talented guys, write relatable songs, and they are incredible to their fa
Born 1996 and I've fucked up my life immensely from drug habits, toxic relationships, endless partying and finally left feeling empty. Make your choices wisely kids, my chaotic life began at 10. Make better decisions than me 🙏
Lol this song came out when I was 9. I'm turning 15 in less than a month and i cant help but have the daunting feeling I'll be here every year, then looking back at 24 thinking fuck, where did it all go? Responsibilities, bollocks.
LYRICS: I had no cares in the 1990's I knew of no downfalls The war was breaking out all around me My concerns were with prank calls She kissed me on the cheek She kissed me on the cheek Right in front of the older kids When my self-belief, my self belief Wasn't scarred by the modern itch 'cause now it feels like We kissed with one eye on our TV set And the more I give, the less I get Using fairground rides just to spark her smile This little hit to miss, bring back 1996, bring back 1996 So hard to beat those teenage kicks, bring back 1996 We were cloning sheep in the 1990's We were building telescopes And sugar filled the whole of my body As I edged it all to grow I kissed her on the cheek I kissed her on the cheek Just to impress the older kids But my self-belief, my self-belief Wasn't lost in the modern glitch 'cause now it feels like We kissed with one eye on our TV set And the more I give, the less I get Using fairground rides just to spark her smile This little hit to miss, bring back 1996, bring back 1996 Stop talking, stop talking I need a lover not a friend tonight I'm leaving, I'm leaving I'm not cut out for the modern life I'll never beat those teenage kicks I'll never beat those teenage kicks I'll never beat those teenage kicks Bring back 1996
LOVED this song when I was 15, listened to it all the time 💖 8 years later I'm listening to it again to escape the feelings in the lyrics x'( (Yes if you do the math I wasn't alive in 1996 xp)
Honestly, as somebody around your age, I used to think this way a lot. Then I got diagnosed with autism, cut a lot of needless energy draining habits out of my life, stopped trying to shame myself into conformity, and suddenly found myself happier than I remembered being since I was 7 years old. Whenever your personal "1996" was, you enjoyed that time because you appreciated it in the moment, you weren't overextended, and your life was full of things that met your needs and made you happy. That can always happen again. :)
Their style is particular, it goes across some deep electronic influences but it never gets far from the rock spark and I think the rock side mainly affects and leads their choices! They recently caught up with a new album and it looks superb, magically embraced by alternative hints and some lovely chorus as in the usual preferences of the band! The sound can be quirky at times, it makes you imagine the space, a love lost or even the relief of being close to the ones you love! These are the right emotions the album grants me, listening to the alternative artists always help you overcome the pointless commercial tunes! If you get over the boundaries you wipe out so many bands because you understand they were not as deserving as they seemed! The Wombats never let you down, they have a groundbreaking sound; only three guys providing the sound of an orchestra! It'd be needed to play along with ten members if you thought to be that impressive! They break the mould and scare teenagers off! They write for lighting up the keenest fans, basically to spice up our souls! I'm addicted to this all and I'm not ashamed of showing up with such a powerful mark! Let's carve it into your heart! Promise yourself that you'll never betray the alternative rock scene! If you agree with all of that don't shirk clicking thumbs up!
What do you mean by, "they scare teenagers off!"? Because I'm a teenager and I've known about them for about a year and a half and love their music...?
This song was made 9 years ago. That means, at the time that they made the song, they were as close to their teenage years as I am to my teen years now. Damn.
I found this song back in 2011 thanks to some rando on yahoo asks giving me song suggestions. You're the real MVP, whoever you are. I still love this song to this day!
this song is reverse optimism with optimistic intent. its not pessimistic. its momentary reflection and awe in a realization and probably disappointment in the fact that it occurred afterwards rather than within the moment being reflected.
I really love this song. I constantly think about how I want to live back in the 90s. Although I was born in the early 90s, I really embraced that decade. I believe that music and movies were the greatest then.
I was born in 1984. Having spent the bulk of my childhood and early adolescence in the 1990's, I can confidently state that this song is so absolutely accurate.
I still think mid twenties -to early thirties is the golden age of life (pre-internet). Old enough to command respect (cause you're a threat), young enough to remember the flavor of what it was like to not care. Dangerous :D
Graduated in 1996. Saw Metallica, Sound Garden, the Wu-Tang Clan, and the Ramones at Lollapalooza in 1996. My last summer before going into the military early the following year. Life was magical.
Graduated in 96. At the time shit was changing. Grunge was cool but I was never a fan. Loved led zep and bands like that. This vid kind of describes the feeling of the 90s. Or it might be that I'm drunk.
I'm kind of sad that I'm probably one of the few people on here that was actually cognizant, as in older than two in 1996. It makes me nostalgic of that time in my life, I was 11 in 1996. My mom was still independent, healthy, and not wheelchair bound. This song sings volumes to me.
I first heard this song when I was 13. In a couple months I’ll turn 18. This is the first song from The Wombats that I ever heard and It’s my favorite song ever. It just has an amazing sense of nostalgia, I really think it’ll stick with me for a very long time
I first heard let's dance to joy division and party in a forest back to back at like 16 I think. I'm 27 now, and that shit's still with me. Good shit never leaves, even if the memories attached to it turn melancholic, or disappear themselves, the music is still there for you.
Nicholas CHRYSSAFIS Why must you breed the negativity? You really should think about what you say to others. You never know what that little negative thing can do to a person.
That was the first song I heard of them and I remember watching the video for the first time. So I listened to the other songs and fell in love with their music! Now I‘m sitting here waiting for the postman to bring me my concert ticket 😍 second time I‘m going on one of their concerts!
I know this song isn't about being born in 1996 but i was born in that year and I'm having a crisis because I'm feeling old for turning 20 in a few months and yeah shout out to everyone who's in this situation... anyways i love this song and this band
I give them permission to bring back 1996. It'll give me a chance to actually get it right this time ;) sounds like a preeettttyyy good deal to me. #1996baby Go for it wombats. question -why all the water?
