I’ve been watching while my new kitten, Bunny, naps by my side. 😊 I had several older pets pass away in the past 2 months, which is always heartbreaking. But on a donation delivery to the local shelter one kitten reached out of the cage refusing to let go. ❤ I guess she needed me as much as I needed her to heal my heart. Right now she’s finding all the lost toys under the couch and helping decorate the Christmas tree.

In the Netherlands our plots have mostly flooded due to record-breaking rain. Our team mostly works with raised beds, so flooding is not much of a problem for us plantt-wise. Getting any kind of work done in these coniditions is a prolem.

Hi Jessie and your Mum, good job on finishing off the chicken pen roof, they will be much dryer in there through the winter. Well impressed with your DIY skills, too, and a brilliant job on putting your shower tray in 💪 we collected leaves from a local park last Sunday. Never used leaves before, so it will be interesting to see how it goes. I never put our Christmas tree up until December. it's early enough 😉 another great video update. Thanks for sharing and take care 😊

My daughter worked in florist in the old Covent Garden. I would take her to Covent Garden in Nine Elms lane to get all the add on’s . People loved them but it’s very difficult to make a living. I worked for a commercial gardener 50 years ago . We would go to Holland and buy crocus bulbs by sack and wooden clogs to plant them in. We would stack them up in the autumn inside wooden fish boxes we got from the old billings gate market. In the spring we would place a few in a cold frame at a time and bring them on to show a small piece of colour. Then we would go around the markets in south lLondon selling on to venders.

I am so jealous. Here (Montréal, Canada) it's near 0 degrees, below that at night. I have some chard cowering under a wee short flimsy plastic polytunnel. I am literally picking frozen chard from another bed which isn't covered. I fear I must accept that growing is at an end. All I can "harvest" now is frozen sage and maybe, MAYBE the last of the chard, if it warms up... a bit.

Drying sedums, nigella seed heads and some fennel stalks with flowers in my shed ready for Christmas wreath additions and to add to ivy, cornus stems etc for the vase. Thanks for introducing me to the subject of lignin content in leaves! When you mentioned how great oak leaves were for your soil due to their high lignin content I was a bit dismayed since I have no oak trees, but a quick Google search showed me that maple leaves, which I have in abundance and are low in lignin, are actually the best for my heavy shale soil (maple leaves are quick to break down and higher in nitrogen). It makes sense that slow-to-break-down oak leaves are great for your sandy soil. There’s my ‘learn something new every day’ moment for today. 😀

Love your vlogs have been following for a long time now. Cannot think of any reason not to like Christmas, unless you have lost somebody at this time or are on your own. For us it’s always a family get together (11 of us), Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Eve , same as all Bank Holidays and Anniversary’s and family members birthdays. Thankfully we all live within 1O minutes of one another. Ps we have a leak in our kitchen ceiling that we have to put a bucket under every time it rains, fancy coming and fixing it for us, we only live in Essex, not to far.

We have a lot of veg on plot too we havnt bought greens for about 3 years now. I still have some beds to mulch with compost but I will get there. Gotta get my field beans in too and aquadulce. Fascinating start! The vanishing paper bags that were then discovered. Disappointed that the Eric Morecambe Paper Bag Gag wasn't done. Then the roof with light that used to be dark and the concept of opacity. Then a burst of poetry (I expect the full forgotten poem recited over a glass of cider later!). I love this vlog (no subtitles today though😢) ❤❤ will carry on watching now (while my stroke survivor wife snores in the background😂)

Well you certainly got a shower at home at 16:16! lol You might like watching The Carpenters Daughter - Vikkie Lee. She has just bought a bungalow after several failed purchases and after already selling her house and living in a boathouse up North. Does running the lawnmower not speed up the process of breaking down the leaves? How do you spell the L thing Oak leaves have please? We have confifers, lilac and some various hedges like jasmine and wisteria that we just leave to fall in situ. I use my Dad's leaves for mulch where i can. He doesn't save much for us as he says he hates the slugs on the bags but the tree is about 3 healthy people wide. I can't complain but he only saves me about a bag or two of them and puts the rest in the green waste bin for the council. Talking of which, one tip i went to had a container of compost to collect and use. What are your thoughts on taking some or do you think it is too sus as in too many weeds and pests? I think it was from the green waste bins composted down and then they put it in the big storage container near the exit? You'll never know that lettuce stalk might grow stil.... I've seen some Christmas trees up already and plan to get the stuff out this weekend, with an aim for it to be up by Christmas! lol Thats a really pretty wreath. What was the fresh stuff you were cutting off the bush? Not brave enough to collect resources for a wreath to home make. We have a autumn wreath and mantlepice garland that i put up with lights. I normally take the autumn wreath off the door for halloween week and then put it back on. Christmas time, i replace the wreath and living room mantle piece garland with a winter themed ones, with led white lights. I put up green garland, with some white tips on the stairs and landing up to the loft with pine cones and red led lights. We have a tree and some ornaments that we collected over the years and some that was my mums from when i was little (she passed when i was 10). Some other cheap old ornaments that she used to put out as well as her late mum. Oh and we have a light up baby polar bear in the living room! Hehe for the kid in front of the tree but the amount of times i have injured myself on that bloody bear trying to lean over and turn the christmas tree lights on around the corner! We also have Fred the Elf who never knows how busy he will be or how much mischeif he gets up to over Dec.... Anyway, hope you get the shower screens up soon. Do you have a target of when you want to get it done by? We have a concrete ceiling and upstairs floor. It is not fun but keeps the heat in. The new loft is wood, etc, so moving the light placements were a lot easier. I can't speak for anyone else but having a mix of gardening, DIY and crafts all blend together nicely. Any tips on telling a squirrel to f off digging in my containers and checking it's stash daily would be great. No i don't want bread in a flower pot! lol Best wishes
