yeah, I'm not sure what the people saying its so much softer are listening to, sure there is less screaming, but musically its up a notch in terms of quality and still pretty heavy, definitely still metal to boot. More melody doesn't necessarily mean less heavy.

Hunter Keenan I've always liked music like this also. So no matterif a band changes to this sound, it's still good to me. With or without screaming, I think it's an amazing song. Do you have any suggestions on more bands? My playlist is getting stale.

+India Michaels im listening to a lot of bands, but mostly the ones everyone knows. Architects, parkway drive, and so on. Parkway drive also changed hard, but i love their new album. But also a big fan of papa roach and good old pop punk stuff. If you like metalcore i recommend breakdown of sanity, they are really underrated and mostly unknown.

unpopular opinion probably, but I honestly think Ovedose & Misery are some of their best songs to date. I really really love the sound they're experimenting with these two.

This change reminded me of the change between suicide season, there's a heaven, and sempiternal (by BMTH). A different but equally powerful emotional experience. This is change done right.

I've been listening to The Word Alive since the Empire EP, I love them! It's different with each album, wasn't the biggest fan of the last album except a few songs. This song is a bit different but still love Telle's singing!

While this isn't The Word Alive when they first debuted, this is still them. They've grown into more dynamic territory. I like their new direction. I support them fully, every step of the way. I enjoy this new material as much as the old. Nothing but praises here.

Why is everyone so fuckin negative on this? If a band would stay the same over they years people would call em 'boring', they change/improve and people call em lame/gay/sellout etc. Like the fuck people. If you're a fan of the old TWA, go take your ass off this page and go listen to their old album but stop being so negative. Don't like it, fine, but stop being rude and dissing something that other people love. Like they said themselves, they really have found their true sound now, the true TWA, so we should be happy for them.

Man just amazing, I haven't listen to this band since their album with deciever, Hounds of Anubis, and 2012, i miss those days. I've been listening to Born Of Osiris, but I know so many bands, that sometimes I forget, and then an old band like Escape The Fate will come to mind, and i'll check to see how their doing. *Cough Cough* ( Asking Alexandria).

Some people are so unappreciative and afraid of change lmao. Boohoo, they got lighter with less screaming, and Telle finally started focusing on the potential of his incredible clean voice. You need to understand that bands makes music for their fans but they DON'T make it to cater to their fans' tastes, meaning most of their negative opinions do not matter, so go listen to something else. Also FYI, it's very likely their sound was evolving into something that didn't fit to Luke's style, so he left on good terms to pursue his own, maybe y'all should learn from that.

I have to be honest I opened this expecting something heavy and thought to myself what is this? Then after clearing my mind the next day and giving it another listen I started loving it. As an old fan if the new album sounds like this I would definitely still NEED to give it a listen.

as musicians mature, so does their sound. all the whining little boys crying because "ohhh they aren't heavy anymore." and "RIP TWA. go back to empire and deceiver days".it's Hilarious. the lyrics here are more dark and personal and overall the song is just great. keep making music TWA. you won't have the same fans forever but that's their loss. \m/

It reminds me of some tones from Dark Matter, my favorite album by The Word Alive. Great song in my opinion! I love that they do the hard and fast stuff but also balance it out with the melodic and ambient which I love, as in other bands like Blessthefall, A Skylit Drive, Before Their Eyes, Memphis May Fire, Of Mice & Men, I See Stars and so on. Love this band and their sound! Can't wait to see where this band goes next and what the next record will be like.

absolutely fucking incredible guys. Ive been a big fan for many years now. I was brought to you guys from your brutal first couple albums, but I love the style you guys continue to push and the lyrics and heartfelt emotion you bring into every song and every life show I've seen. Even listening to this song a few months ago compared to now has brought such different meaning to my life at my darkest times and lowest of lows this year. this next year is going to be my best year yet! Telle, Zack, Tony and Daniel I would love to meet you guys next time your in Australia. if you ever had time for vocal or guitar lessons I would do whatever I needed to make that happen. until then, I'll keep practicing and reaching out. hopefully see you guys in the near future

People gotta understand that this is just 1 new song. Who knows what a whole new album would sound like. Obviously there would be elements of older TWA albums. You'd just have to wait... but I like this. It's a good direction.
