The word “parasocial” has been abused for a little while now. Every time I see someone say it, it’s never in the correct context. It’s annoying. I don’t blame Duke for saying that he don’t mess with Banks because he called him a “parasocial” which implies that Duke doesn’t know him like that and is a fan.

Let me preface this by saying that parasocial relationships are an unfortunate thing that has plagued the youth for many generations. It helps distinguish the chronically online from normal human beings. That said parasocial relationships aren’t entirely the viewers fault tho. A lot of content creators tell these people things that a friend or family would. When you tell your viewers that you love them or open up to them about what is going on in your personal life and with emotional, you open up the door to parasocial relationships and weird behavior. A lot of these viewers never had friends or never been told that they were loved. Live streaming has made it worse as there is an increased interaction between the viewer and streamer. Content creators need to be mindful of what they say because it really leaves an impression on these lonely people. Especially these kids man.

I'm no English Major, but im pretty sure the word parasocial is an adjective which is used to further define or describe a subject in discussion. IE a 'Parasocial' Relationship, parasocial exchange, parasocial tendancies etc etc.. People are using a word like its a noun or subject in itself ("Thats parasocial") which sounds off .. almost like they wanna say "thats psychotic" but just used a word they know has proximity to being on the internet. idk thats just me
