As a welding instructor I can tell you that being a good welder takes time, a lot of repetition and a strong will. Welding on a wooden floor is extremely dangerous because your welds can reach over 1000°C. And I would definitely wear at least jeans and a shirt with long sleeves because welding creates very strong UV Light that WILL harm you and every creature that is exposed to it. Love the vids!

You might want to weld outside or in a garage. I don't want you to burn down your house. All those sparks are a bad thing for inside the house.

I was going to say the same thing. Also wear long welding pants and shirt. And have a fire extinguisher nearby. That was great welds for a first time.

You can also buy fire retardant cloths to lay down. I mean it is always best practice to weld outside, in well ventilated areas. The gas buildup is quite quick and dangerous.

Absolutely wear full protection. It's not just sparks, but also little bits of molten metal flying around. Speaking from experience, having a glob of molten copper land on your thigh is a bad time, and will absolutely burn you. Also do not weld without proper ventilation, welding releases gases into the air, which are harmful to you, and potentially your critters. Doing it outside is generally best.

Not sure if other have said this among all the other things but if you are going to weld a LOT the less exposed skin the better because you are going to get one hell of a sunburn otherwise, any non see through fabric is enough, won't work for big sparks though... on that note try not having places where a big spark/fragment can get caught, I speak from experience, got a tiny ball of molten metal stuck between my shoe and sock, burned right through the sock and now I have a tiny scar as a reminder lol.

I was looking for carbonized cork and bigger pieces of pumice few months ago, there is nothing like that in EU. Found some cork in Korea, nowhere else. Big pumice only in US

You’re definitely gonna wanna do that outside. First the gasses coming off aren’t great in that enclosed space, and the splatter will burn itself into your cages even glass. Another thing is that if you weld a lot you will get sun burnt if your skin is exposed to long periods of time because in the welding process UV light is released

I know you were just practicing and will be doing more extensive research before you start welding the frame together, but please try and avoid welding inside if you can! The sparks and fumes put off are really hazardous. If you have to weld inside due to the size of the frame and the access route to the basement, please make sure you have a negative air machine (or some other type of exhaust fan) exhausting the basement when you weld and put down some weld blankets and a few weld screens up to protect the walls and your floors. Also, don't forget the welder's apron and welding pants to protect yourself as well!

this is a crossover i ve never imagined xD finally something that i can relate , i'm a blacksmtith i hate to be the safety guy but please weld outside or in a well ventilated area that fumes can mess you quite fast also in a place that dont catch fire to your home like your basement and with a fire extinghiser nearby apart from that i really enjoy see you trying to weld those welds looked fine they will work

i don't know if croatia counts as one of the main slavic countries, but welding inside while squatting and wearing shorts and flipflops whilst knowing nothing about welding... i'd say thats some major slav energy right there XD i see others complain about safety so i won't say anything about that, but when you're done welding the junglearium i'd reccommend you get your welder friend to look over everything before you start filling it with your new stump and stuff. The idea is really good, but I can imagine that in reality the mirror will be dirty from water marks all the time and will be a pain to clean. I could imagine that the little droplet marks will destroy the illusion so fastly, unfortunately :/

Petko my lungs hurt from just looking at what you're doing... Also, the floor you have is made part out of resin and it burns VIOLENTLY if it catches fire.... welding is a HUGE fire hazard!

So glad you're getting into welding. BUT, get a fire extinguisher ready. Those sparks are molten metal and can start a fire real fast. Also, they tend to go to places they're not supposed to and may cause fire long time after you're done welding. So always keep half an hour to one hour of constant fire watch after you finish and then check up on it a few times after that every 20 minutes or so.

Arc welding is the easiest welding but after that is flux core so you do not have to use the gas. Also you should weld in a well ventilated area. Also you should prep your metal by grinding down the surface where you are welding to make sure you get good penetration. You should also wear long sleeves and jeans because the arc will give you the same thing as sunburn. Also make sure that no other people are around as if they get arc flashed it can cause damage. Short term will feel like you have sand in your eyes for a few days.

It’s awesome to see you learn something new! We are never to old to learn. Just a thought: I would put a drain in the new set up. Many put a slight offset in the bottom so the water from the misting system can collect in one side for easy drainage.

Instead of using paints and other insulation solutions that are guaranteed to break after some time, why not cover everything with glass or plastic and only leave the required holes you need for cables, pipes, etc. This way you will only ever have to focus on these holes for any problems.

also, welcome to the world of welding! your wire didn't come out the first time you tried because it ran into the bottom of your contact tip/electrode, which is the copper piece that that the wire comes through at the end of your whip/gun. that copper piece (contact tip) is probably threaded, and it's a good habit to just take that out when you're feeding wire like that and then thread it back on after having slid it down a bit of wire. the wire DID come out the second time, yes, but it's a game of chance. the wire very likely was NOT bent on its initial run down the whip. it probably bent when it smoked the bottom edge of the contact tip.

NICE WELDS! for real! if that really was your first time (and i believe it was, because you exposed a lot of skin to those UVs and you probably won't do that twice), you did absolutely great! legit. if you practice you will be very capable at making things out of metal. i recommend not doing this in your tarantula room though. yikes.

Yea please weld in like a garage or something but also be careful with what you’re welding you probably want to make sure you’re not using stainless steel And especially not galvanised You don’t need long trousers really because your legs will be probably far enough away but you might get a dodgy looking tan from it

Uv light is like the sun brotha always wear the proper gear lol or get bad sunburn and watch out for welding flash with your eyes ive been a welder for 30 yrs trust me lol any ways love your channel and the only way to get better at welding is to do it so enjoy great skill to have and lots of other skills come with it 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻and hope you get another bearded dragon awesome lizards take care

I would do a concrete bottom. With that rolled on atuff to make it waterproof. That is probably the best way unless yout gonna do a glass bottom. Just think that would be very expensive and very tough to do.

Wow, did I panic when you declared that you were going to weld, I mean the girl was. Welder in an officer and a gentleman, I have never watched the film not one of my favourite genres but I remember my mum telling me how romantic the movie was , I love Horror and sci fi! I think if anyone an do it you can, you don’t give in so watch some videos on RU-vid and I am sure you will succeed! I come from an Italian family I am desperate to go for my first time but it is so expensive from the UK!

10:59 That is called RHS or Rectangular Hollow Section. Also, you should buy some tip dip to keep spatter from sticking to the shroud as well as a set of contact tip cleaners. Also, pro tip... don't weld in flip flops. EDIT: It's hard to tell but you seem to be welding in the wrong direction. Push for MIG, pull for stick.

A couple of things ... in the US, we call that material square tubing. For mig welding; push for solid wire, and drag/pull for flux core wire.
