ETT Season 5, episode 2: A Mammoth snowboard for opening day at Mammoth Mountain! In this episode of Every Third Thursday, Dave Lee and the entire Signal Snowboard factory crew team up on a huge project-a 10-foot long (304 cm) snowboard. The whole factory needs to be rearranged to create this behemoth board, but it pays off in the end. The board is mounted on top of the 4Runner and the crew arrives just in time for opening day at Mammoth Mountain. Check out team rider Ian Thorley turn heads as he laps the park and kicks the season off in a BIG way!

Can't tell from the video. Does this have the regular sidecut radius from a typical board? It almost looks like the sidecut depth is the same from a normal board, which would make the sidecut radius... Humongous.

Likely, the sidecut is LARGE, but a longboard does bend deeply, so while 'tight' turns don't occur, fluid and predictable carves do. It takes awhile to adjust to a longboard snowboard; You'll be turning at a beat you usually do, but the scenery goes by twice as fast! I first rode a 'long' snowboad in 1990, a Safari 205 cm (which I owned for many years, before letting Podium put it in the museum; I think Nick still has it!), and have since been affiliated with Rad-Air, which makes the Tanker snowboards, of which I've got a few still. My 200cm (that 6 ft., btw) is one of my faves, and has been to Colorado, Oregon, All-over the East Coast, and to Argentina with me. It doesn't like going slow, but floats powder like an angel on the wing! It sports a 12 meter sidecut, so figure add two feet at each end, I'd guess the Signal was around a 20 meter radius, unless they tweaked it some.
