James Rodriguez was an absolute joy to watch in his prime. At the time of this video, there are reports of him potentially returning to Everton or even La Liga. Do you guys think he is done or still has some spark remaining for a last dance?
Well, he is having a revival in Copa America. Maybe he won't be a bright a star as he was but playing as he is, he probably deserves a spot in a competitive team in Europe
@FootballVisionYT OOOPPPSSS, you obviously don't pay attention to CONMEBOL qualifiers. James is still the captain of Colombia's national team. He has led the team to 27 undefeated matches, and counting, the only country in the world right now that hasn't lost a match in all of 2024. In the ongoing Copa America he won player of the game in all 3 games of the group stage. He also won player of the game in Colombia's 5-0 demolition of Panama in the quarter finals and has the team ready to take on Uruguay in the semis. In fact, many Uruguayans are worried that he will defeat them on Wednesday just like he did 10 years ago in Brazil. He has also had a betterCopa America than Messi or Vinicius Junior. He also has Colombia, as of right now, in 3rd place below Argentina and Uruguay in WC qualifiers. So you are 100% wrong on your assessment that James " disappeared overnight."
Hopefully he and his management team know there is no point to moving to a team if the coach is not willing to utilize a traditional number 10 in some capacity. James is an attacking midfielder who operates between the midfield and forward lines. He is a creative playmaker responsible for orchestrating attacks. James has excellent vision, passing ability, and technical skills. At his age, he needs the freedom to play his position the way Nestor Lorenzo has allowed him to play for Colombia. At Real Madrid Zidane often used a 4-3-3 formation, which didn't naturally accommodate a traditional number 10 like James so he lost playing time as a result. Néstor Lorenzo primarily uses a 4-2-3-1 formation as the head coach of the Colombia national team. This formation suits James Rodriguez. The 4-2-3-1 formation typically employs an attacking midfielder behind the striker, which is James' preferred position as a traditional number 10. This setup allows James to operate in the central area between the midfield and forward lines, where he can utilize his vision and passing skills to create chances. With two defensive midfielders behind him, James has more freedom to focus on his creative duties without as much defensive responsibility. The formation provides width through wingers, which can create space for James to operate in the center.James' ability to play quick, short passes and through balls suits the 4-2-3-1 system, especially in linking midfield to attack. It would be great to see James return to La Liga on a team and coach that knows how to best utilize him.
He's BACK !!! Best player in the Copa America 2024 right now, all the hate against him can be shut down. He's playing even better than in 2014, not only scoring but creating magic on the field for his Colombian team.
As a Uruguayan. I am terrified. Valverde and Ugarte need to keep him off of the ball and we can win but otherwise this is probably the end of our copa America since our defense is so injured
Have to feel bad for James for all of his bad luck with managers and injuries at the big european clubs. Thankfully he is having his redemption tour in this Copa America and can hopefully keep it going for an encore in the next world cup that Colombia is sure to qualify for this time.
What a great video…. In his country, my country, media punished him so badly, but not only, people talked so much trash about him…. And now, you know, they don’t…
No ReaL Madrid will put players out No matter who it is and sit them on bench or sell them to transfer or loans that is why I can’t ever be a ReaL Madrid Fan bcz they don’t Care about the Team they only Care about Win if you play Bad a couples of games you get put out or sit on the bench for years they don’t give chances once you start to mess up 10 games or less in a row that’s the route they take
This is silly. All this talk as if he disappeared from the face of the earth. He had an exceptional career and is leading his national team tonight in the semifinals of the Copa America.
The only thing he failed was to live up to expectations, because people expected him to be challenging for a ballon d’or. He didn’t come close to that. I thought him & Neymar would take over after Messi & Ronaldo lol naaah didn’t happen
Great to see James Rodriguez doing so well at the Copa America! His coach, Nestor Lorenzo, knows how to get the best out of him and how to utilize him. Great coaches know how to get the most out of all their players. James is a world class talent that did not fit in with Benitez or Zidane’s style of play.
This is one of the few videos on the subject that don’t just glance over all of his achievements outside of the World Cup and the first season with Real Madrid. The truth is James was an incredible talent long before that 2014 World Cup. He carried that Banfield team to their first and only ever league title and shined throughout his entire time at Porto. Had two great seasons with madrid and a fantastic loan spell at Bayern. I think the mix of injuries and having that fat bastard Benitez following him his whole career deprived us of seeing him shine at the elite level for longer. Even now at 32 James continues to show signs of his brilliance with the Colombian national team, I hope he can have a great copa America and get to finish his career at a club of the level that he deserves.
His firstt season for real madrid was good ,next season injured after recovery Zidane selected casemeiro and James was in the bench for 2 years and left
not true. benitez played him, he just got injured. it was zidane who saw casemiro was needed, as james kroos modric as a midfield was too defensively weak. actually it was perez fault for buying james. he isn't as defensively good as di maria at CAM. and also kroos isnt as defensively good as xabi alonso who he replaced.
Imma be honest, some players just aren’t meant to play for certain clubs. James should’ve never joined Real Madrid, not that he wasn’t good, but maybe his career would’ve went differently had he joined Bayern for example instead. Like he wasn’t bad after joining Real Madrid, but he just didn’t play. Which can make you worse. A lot of players should’ve avoided man united for example.
I get where you are coming from but James perfectly suited the Galacticos culture and had a very impressive first season. The managerial changes were something out of his hands and injuries unfortunately hampered his comebacks into the side. So I think it was more bad luck than joining the wrong team
First year at Madrid 24 games 12 goals 12 assists. He was on his way until ancelotti left. Also it’s pretty hard to crack that starting line up that Madrid was field at the time
I'd love to see him peak once again, he has a chance because he was selected for copa America I was thought to be obsessed with him and indenial of his fall by people when i talk about how good he was
10 years later and he makes a comeback… it’s proof no matter how much time passes if you get that discipline and hunger back it’s possible to make a comeback like he did in cops America and today he’s raising that cup.
One of the biggest disappointments after 2014 World Cup he was put on the level of Messi cristiano Neymar that level he just wasn’t ready or perhaps those players that don’t want to be at the very top they don’t have that ambition with average success they are satisfied he was a huge disappointment
Agreed. If anything, his story sheds light on just how amazing it was for Ronaldo and Messi to consistently put out season after season at the top level. It will likely be a very long time before we see another rivalry like theirs in the sport.
Joining madrid is always a bad move cause u surely have to compete amongs star players for your spot🥹 should have stayed in bayern and made a name there
He didn't disappear overnight he worn trophies in madrid and bayern some players dont have like Harry Kane.that boy is a winner, And also he is still a millionaire
James is not really playing for São Paulo he is just being paid by them… the team recognised that was a mistake signing him and after Copa America mostly likely will leave São Paulo…
Thank you so much for this ,too !! I always wondered what happened to him & curious of what really happened ( although I had heard/ read of his injuries ,etc ) ! I came here after watching your wonderful video of Di Maria ! I am gonna hit the subscription button now ! 👍👍🎶
This is what’s gonna happens to all the current supposed talents 😂 Vini JR, Endrick, Yamal, Mbappe, Halland, etc. 😂🫵 They all will be good players but never legendary like the last great Era pf football Messi and CR7
Injuries and not in manager's favor define a footballer's career. Real Madrid was so stars-studded at that time. But one moment of what could've been is what if he decided to stay at Bayern Munich.
James was a victim of the changing football landscape. No. 10 were being replaced by talented Box to box midfielders with similar output and defensive help.
