Riding and Wrenching bikes for 50 now, the death wobble is NOT limited to Harleys. I have had it happen on just about every make, some minor and some a handful to get control of. Caused by more than one "Lack of Maintenance" issues. Can't wait to see your video on this one John.

It is actually pretty funny, your referencing more days that you shop will be open. I was actually hired at a local hd dealership near me as an apprentice, in the middle of this pandemic, doing 40+ hours a week.( we just moved up to 48 hours last week). Things are still hopping in the Harley Davidson world. Just outside NYC the COViD-19 epicenter for the US. Ride when I can, great part is I can fly down the highway with no worries. Prayers for Clay and all others suffering from this crisis.

Our hospitals are all locked down to visitors too. To be honest I think this whole thing is blown completely out of proportion. Glad you are still working. Keep it rolling!

happy that Clay is doing better. definitely crazy times. My girlfriend is a nurse manager at a large hospital up here in Upstate NY. I worry about her every day. My bike is in storage at out local HD shop and they are closed but opening soon by appointment for pick up only. I don't dare whine to her about picking up my bike with all she's going thru right now

At least your dealership is open, even with reduced hours. Dealership in Jackson TN is closed. But they keep posting on Facebook everyday that they’ll deliver to your house if you buy a Harley. But Car Dealers are open with reduced hours.

We are on lockdown in PA, not supposed to drive except for work, groceries, and solitary exercise. Still lots of cars out and about though.

Hey John thanks for keeping us up to date on Clay's condition definitely a bad time to be in the hospital....not that it's ever a good time to be laid up lol ride safe and stay healthy I vote for the front end wobble did the neck bearings in a friends flh and he is getting a wobble when he let's go of the bars or at higher speeds not the first bearing job I've done I have four bikes and have done the neck bearings in 2 of the four thanks.

Seeing there is hardly no traffic. Its a great time to ride 👍 plus gas is super cheap, around $1 gallon. I do see and hear quite a few bikes out. Im one of them👊

Hope your friend Clay keeps getting better. I'm looking forward to your video on curing a death wobble . I have a V-rod and would like to change the 4 degree triple tree for one with only 2 degrees rake to stabilize it at higher speeds. I installed a one inch lowering kit on a bike for a friends wife's V-rod pushed the tubes down one the triple tree only 1/2 inch and the effective difference made it more stable right up to 110 mph.. So with the frame at 34 degrees at the head and 4 degrees in the tree that should be effectively 30 degrees and taking it up to 32 degrees would be stable to 125 mph. and that would be just fine. My only other option would be a steering damper. I don't want to manage it I want to fix it. I think I experienced what a death wobble is when a friend asked me to test his bike out on the highway . I checked the steering head for tightness turned it left and right with no binding got out on rt-50 hit 85 mph. and it started to wobble like crazy so I tightened my grip relaxed my arms and cranked the throttle. Just above 90 it settled out. I told him to sell it. That was about 38 years ago. I'm still riding at 67 and my father in law at 82 . So bring on that video wile we're still young enough to learn something useful. Thanks again and Happy April Fools Day . Mike

Hi. We are in lock down in New Zealand. No riding. We can only go out for food and some exercise. Essential services only are at work. So most of the country is at home. We are trying to stop Covid 19 be not giving it anywhere to go. When we do go out, we have to be about 6 feet apart as we pass other people. Seeing you guys out in groups is strange. No masks or protection from Covid 19. Helmets don't count. So its 4 weeks at home and NO riding and NO contact. Hoping to be out when its safer. Be safe guys.

After about 2 years with a speed wobble but not a tank slap type! We did everything front to back top to bottom, TWICE!! and then some.. 02' FXDX... You may come up with some fix's that I want to see! But my friend who is a genius figured it out! It was the frickin' Fork brace!!! at 90 and above it would go nuts left to right, I almost bailed the last time! "U" here it is.. anyway I'm not going to mention the maker but I suggest if you have a FXDX Take that shit off!! No more tracking groove and NO more speed wobble!! ?Your thoughts?

New Sea Land is in strict lockdown Only essential businesses open ie food, supply chain, medical care, trades only to work for essential businesses. NO unnecessary travel - certainly no riding around for fun. I am a dentist but limited seeing patients for very limited emergency care for urgent issues of severe pain/infection - so business less than 10% Hopefully can get through Covid-19 pandemic retaining my team to continue once NZ has it well under control 😁

I have an 03 Road King and getting ready to remove primary cover to replace the primary tensioner shoe...do you think any of the after market self adjusting tensioners are worth installing or just stay with stock manual adjust...? I get different feedback either way on this thru youtube...confusing!

I saw a video recently where Doc Harley was talking about using your engine to slow or stop. It sounded like he was saying that downshifting is bad for your motor. Any thoughts? I think you have more control when you are downshifting.

My question is: Worth it? Will the new sound make my heart sing? I also will need to ride to another state say, Nevada or Arizona to have this done...Yep, I live in Sissyvill, CA. I've got a 2017 Street glide FLHX that I bought new, I just ride occasionally so don't have a lot of miles in it, but just would like to know if this TSB is an actual fix for the trans/primary fluid transfer if or when that should happen to my bike. Was wondering your opinion on if I should upgrade to stage 4 and do air suspension on this bike or trade in for a 2020 street glide special. If I get the new bike I wont have the money for a little while to do any upgrades. I also know that the upgrades wont really help the value of my current bike on future trades. I also love the sound of my current bike and know the new ones sound weak with stock exhaust. What would you do?? #ClayStrong

Would I also need to adjust the rear suspension too? Stay safe out there we've been in lockdown for 2 weeks now only essential business open eg supermarkets medical service stations.

Hi John. What's the deal with Harley Davidson parts? I've been waiting 7 weeks for top end engine rebuild parts. Harley said it's a software issue, they installed new software but no one noticed it wasn't working for 3 months. Have this effected you? Do you know about this? When will it end? Before you go down the virus path Coronavirus does not effect this at all & it was balls up before the coronavirus went into full effect. So any news would be helpful as my dealer can't give me a E T A on anything only when they took the job they said it would be 2 weeks fully knowing there was a problem. Any help?

Hey John. Thanks for the update. #CLAYSTRONG. I have what might be a dum question but wtf. I own a 2012 Fat Bob with 35,000 miles on it and it still has the original cluth cable. I was wondering how long a well maintained (lubed every service) clutch cable will last for. It looks fine at the lever end but who knows what's going on with the condition of the bit you can't see. I would rather replace it before it lets go on me instead of waiting till i get caught out on the road somewhere. Is there a certain length of time or miles that it should be replaced.
