Sir, I have three questions for you: • Some RMC vendors use SNF instead of VMA to reduce slump or increase the viscosity of flowable concrete originally made with PCE admixtures at the plant. While this works, we've also observed a decrease in strength after adding SNF to concrete containing PCE. Could you explain the mechanism behind this strength reduction? • How much water should be used with chemical admixtures when redosing concrete? • How exactly does VMA work? Could you explain its mechanism, such as chain formation or adsorption?

Thanks Manoj, You can redose your admixture before you reach initial setting time of concrete but in consultation with your client and to check some plastic as well as hardened properties of concrete undisturbed.
Sayan, thanks for your inspiring comments. At present, CIA is being used separately along with HRWR because its individual dosage is too high like 2 to 4%. But manufacturers are trying to incorporate this CIA along with HRWR in 4th generation PCE molecules. Already we have a admixture combo with HRWR and retarder.
Pipe line choke may occur if your concrete starts sudden slump loss takes place. For example, even if you checked the proper slump say 120 mm just before you allow concrete into the pipe line and after that concrete starts losing slump sharply. In such cases concrete is stuck in the wall of pipe which does not allow concrete to move forward even after a few strokes applied by your pump
