Back in 2020, we saw a massive rise in the amount of people who were speedrunning games, but without a doubt the game that saw the most attention was Minecraft! Now, most people think of Java when it comes to speedrunning, but in today's video, I wanted to talk about the niche community of individuals who speedrun Minecraft: New 3DS Edition!

I’ve been watching Genspace’s minecraft 3DS series for a little while now, and I always thought it was so cool that someone else was actually playing Minecraft 3DS, I got my copy at a Walmart back when it first came out in retail, and I’ve been playing it ever since. It’s my personal favorite because surprisingly it was my first personal copy of Minecraft that wasn’t just one at a cousins or friends house. I was shocked to find out there was a community for it, I’m glad this version is getting more recognition than it did at launch!!

It’s crazy seeing Genspace mentioned on such a big channel. I remember discovering the dude a fair few years ago & thinking he would just stay as some niche little RU-vidr. I check up on his channel occasionally out of curiosity when it comes to mind & I’m always impressed with how big it’s growing. Props to Genspace. W RU-vidr

I just saw your video, and decided to do a speedrun(i own a new 3ds, and i main minecraft new 3ds) but have never speedran it. I got 4th place on the leader board for my first day of speedrunning it! I am very happy, and continue to keep going

i tried running minecraft 3ds rsg and i made it to the fortress only. It was my first time playing the 3ds version but i'm still pretty proud of my 25min run to the fortress

Ive been working to achieve the first manhunt on 3ds. However, because my friends in real life don't own the peak of gaming systems, I can't. So now im struggling with emulators and the actual version, please help.

I couldn't even beat the 3DS version. My game got to where it ran too slowly and i couldn't control it as well as I'd like. It was cute and novel, but ultimately not too fun or worth it.

Some feedback on the video, you can literally crop out the first 6 minutes of the video and itd still work Like you said, I haven’t been living under a rock and I didn’t need a rundown on what a speedy run is or who a Minecraft is

3:25 I dont know how to properly translate the names, but i can tell you that the Japanese names are longer than the ones in the brackets. Because Doya is Doyamaru and tarokitchen is however tarokichi.

I think the reason why some people really like this version, is because of the cult following the Nintendo 3DS itself has nowadays. It's a console that many people have strong nostalgia and appreciation for it, they may have grown up with the New 3DS version. Or they just find neat how they managed to port Minecraft to a console like it :]

I enjoyed 3DS version for a few days or so. Treated it more like a dungeon crawler since render distance was so poor. Gave it up since it crashed a lot.

fun fact: this game can run perfectly fine on older 3DS models if you have the Stick Pro and FBI to force open the game

the reason you need FBi is because the game will not pass the built in checks if you try running normally but using FBI you can get the 3Ds to skip the checks which makes minecraft be like : “Yep, this is a New 3DS!”

this is not even a little bit true lol. the game is physically hardcoded to not be able to run on the old 3ds. and yes, we have tried many times before. (also underclocking a new 3ds to the same performance as the old 3ds does not run well at all) if you have somehow found a way to make it run then please let us know, we have been trying for quite some time

On a perspective of how small this community is, about half the world are gamers, about 90% know what minecraft is then of that smaller portion they would have to own a 3DS, then own a copy of mc 3ds and finally they would have to be into speed running meaning it’s on average 0.0001% of the population in this community lol

참고로 마인크래프트 3DS는 한국 정발X 다운로드 소프트웨어로만 발매 (현재 정상적으로 e숍 들어가서 다운은 안됌) 뉴다수만됨 (이유 뉴다수에 있는 C스틱으로 화면 돌려야되서 TMI로 3DS 크리퍼 에디션 있는데 그건 기본옵션중 하나가 마크임 미리 깔려있음

I tried running random seed in 2021 but I never completed a run it was sad :( I did do around an hour long set seed run but I didn't submit it because i didn't have a phone and couldn't record Edit: I did IL times on the leaderboards those are there (recorded with my moms phone LUL)
