This was a play on the psychic test scene in the first movie where the guy was actually showing some signs of being psychic ("couple of wavy lines") but Venkman is too focused on hitting on the girl to notice. In this "World of the Psychic" scene the guy is actually right about the end of the world and Venkman brushes him off because he's convinced both guests aren't real psychics.

Not really, since it wasn't released until July 15, 2016. The biggest movie released in February 14th that year was Deadpool, which is a sort of world ending event, since that movie is lucky to exist at all.

It almost killed the franchise. Damn lucky we have Ghostbusters: Afterlife, the true sequel to Ghostbusters. And i just watched it and it was great! The whole past cast was there except for Rick Moranis. Stay for the end credit scene to watch a throwback scene.

Whats kind of funny is that usually psychic predictions can pick up sometimes on probabilities. Sometimes even hearing the prediction can change the outcome. The first guy was actually right giving the context of the film. only the ghostbusters got back together vigo may very well have been successful and the world as everyone knew it may have ended

People were comparing it to the first film too much to like it. Then the 2016 reboot came out and people are now taking a second look at the film, realizing that it's really not a bad film at all. It just isn't the first movie.

It followed the blueprint of the original film too closely. All the story beats are the same - Dana is being haunted, the Ghostbusters start/restart their business, we get a montage sequence, they get hindered by a bureaucrat, they talk to the mayor, a giant creature walks through NYC, and a nerdy guy who has a crush on Dana gets possessed and becomes the villains henchman. As a result it lacked the "fresh and unique" feel the first movie had.
